Did some pilates this morning, This afternoon I picked up a bunch of tree limbs in the backyard...since the wind is still gusting at 45 mph today, I will be doing more of that task again! In wonder if I should just plan on an INDOOR picnic for the 4th of July

Walked on treadmill as wanted to stay near home. Got in little over 9100 steps in 45 minutes. Now off to make dinner - still on mashed potatoes! Dessert is Edy's berry sherbert (yummy). Can't wait to be able to eat decent food again. Not really motivated to find soft foods as they may taste good but without substance I still wouldn't be satisfied. Oh well, this too shall pass.
Night my sculpted friends.

Annie - so very sorry to hear about the loss of your much-loved dog
.I've been AWOL a lot lately. Have been very fatigued since the California Dreaming trip (possibly related to whatever bug I had during the trip plus a new prescription for Lexapro?). Plus I'm having some level of recurrence of the dreaded trip bug so I've been feeling entirely justified in feeling sorry for myself and sleeping a LOT!
Please keep in your prayers a 47 year old woman by the name of Brenda from my church. Brenda went through treatment for stomach cancer during and following my BMX/TE placement and expansion. Several months ago she was told she was clear. Last Sunday we learned that the cancer was back and it did not look good. My DH told me that during the morning service today our pastor said she was not expected to make it through the day today. I just cannot believe it. Brenda is a wonderful woman with a level of learning disability that has kept her dependent on and living with her parents all her life. She bagged groceries at the local grocery store and always had a smile and friendly comment for everyone. Her family is very Christ-centered but is still, of course, having a very hard time with this.
Love to y'all

Yesterday I walked for 35 mins on the treadmill. My legs are a little sore today. I probably won't do a lot this week with my second AC treatment on Tuesday. Have a good week everyone!

Lisa, so sad to hear about your friend, Brenda. She and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Sweet, Brenda and her family are in my prayers. Sorry you are still under the weather, so think about it, you had that stomach bug before you came to California so you've been not yourself for more than six weeks, has the doctor done a culture, you may have a parasite and has he done blood work? Badger I loved the movie too, did you stay and see the number of people it took to make it, there were hundreds of names. Take it easy this week Mom.
Today did Body Step class.

So sorry about your friend, sweet, and I agree with Cheryl, your doctor needs to do some more investigating about your 'bug'. Six weeks is too long, especially since you took antibiotics and have been doctoring all along. They need to get to the bottom of it (could you have picked up something on one of your trips abroad?). Get back in there & pester them until you get some answers!

Annie - I'm so sorry about Penny. And so young too - only 9. But of course, no matter how long you have with them, it's never long enough. My condolences. I hope your other pooch is up and about soon. When it rains, it pours.
Sweet - I'm so sorry about Brenda. It sounds like she's a well-loved member of your community and her loss will be felt by many.
Patoo - hope you're doing better soon - bet you can't wait to bite into some good solid food!
Cheryl - I love watching all the movie credits too - we're usually the only two people in the theater by the end.
Ruth - it sounds like you're getting a taste of DC weather - our standard forecast in summer is "Hazy, hot, and humid with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms." It's such a common forecast that local weathercasters sometimes just say, "It's going to be a standard Triple-H day today."
LB - sorry about the knees, but good that you're getting them looked at. I had a lot of knee problems years ago, and the dr sent me to a session with a physical therapist who gave me exercises to strengthen all the muscles around the knee. I did them daily for about 6 months and they really helped. Also, when I started running a few years ago, my knees would ache for a few days after a run. A doctor at a running clinic suggested icing my knees after runs - amazingly enough, it really helped. He also suggested balancing on one leg frequently - that helps strengthen the muscles and ligaments around the knee as they work to keep you steady. Here's hoping you get some easy effective solutions as well.
Up at the cabin this weekend - did some mild Garden N Sculpt, but mostly just rested and enjoyed being there. Short workweek for us this week - we had Friday off anyway, so we decided to take off Thursday as well for an extra long weekend at the cabin.
Half hour run this morning - a 6 bunny day! Lots of squirrels too - it must have been a prolific spring for them.

Thanks all, both for the prayers for my church friend and the get well wishes for me. I do have a follow-up visit with my PCP next Monday the 7th for the new Lexapro prescription. When I tell him about the fatigue and more especially about the gut issue recurrence I know he'll start digging deeper to figure it out. I do feel better today than I did either Saturday or Sunday but then again I haven't eaten much since Friday so there's not much to digest! On the bright side, I'm still about 10 pounds down from my pre-trip weight (just don't have mynormal appetite) so lots of my summer clothes are actually fitting when I thought they wouldn't this year

Hi, Lisa, so glad that you are feeling better, and hope you continue to feel better each day! Hope your doctor can figure out what the problem is!
Exercise this week is watching our 3 month old Grandaughter, we are filling in for the daycare they have put her in!! There was a mixup with the waiting list!! We are on call until they find a spot for her! We take her for walks and they live in an area where there are hills!! Pushing that stroller up them is a good workout! Having fun! Hope to shed some pounds, too!

Thanks Kathy. I don't have grandchildren but I do know that my 'grand-dogs' help me burn extra calories when they visit for a weekend and they're both just itty-bitty things. You'll be getting some good toning in while you're walking those hills with a stroller!

Lisa Jayne,
Hoping they get your tummy bug figured out soon.
Mary, hope you were able to get a Bryce bobblehead today

Exercise yesterday was a couple of hours of leisurely swimming. Today was pulling weeds, aqua jogging and more leisurely swimming.

Got the front lawn mowed before another batch of rain storms. 49minutes. I move faster under threat of rain!

Good Grief, the wind has been howling here for three days and we have, not only twigs, but whole big branches blown off the trees and lying all over the yard. I have invented a new toning routine while picking them up (which I did for 45 minutes this morning & 45 minutes tonight). I call it SSSS (Squat down, scoop up the branches, snap them into little pieces, smash them into the garbage bag.....and I am so totally counting it as exercise for today!) Also went to Zumba.

Wow Ruth that sure sounds like a workout. This morning did my Sh'bam class and tonight did Spin, my legs were really 'feeling it' I guess from the Step class yesterday ow ow ow.

Hi Ladies....
Have been MIA with all the goings-on. Annie....so sorry about your dog. These things are just awful.
I am buried (so what's new?), but feel ready to do the Seattle-to-Portland. Just glorious here today after an iffy-at-best weekend. I don't know HOW we missed the deluge on Saturday, but it happened when we were in Tully's for a break. I got in my strawberry shortcake. YUM! Plus the extra hill work. 35 miles on Sunday.
Got in a 5k run this evening, and a view of the bog in the early evening light. Bird song too. Early blackberries along the trail.
My big worry is that the huge tent on the other side of the shopping center parking is FIREWORKS
I think I am skipping town....Centennial Trail????I think I will do dinner as after 10 and just now getting dark. - Claire

Ruth - SSSS sounds satisfyingly strenuous.
Odie - No Bryce bobblehead for me - did you see that the lines to get in started at 1:30pm for a 7pm game? We have tix for tonight - we get a nice fuzzy travel blanket as a promo gift - on a night when the forecast calls for a humid 90 degrees at game time. Something is wrong with this picture . . .
Claire - good to see you again. Ah yes, I remember Seattle - a Tully's on every corner, it seemed. Glad it provided refuge from the storm.
TwoHobbies - speed mowing - sounds like a new Lawn Olympics sport!
Upper body weights this morning, plus some wall squats. I'm gonna feel those tomorrow.

Saw the trainer yesterday - we worked on arms. I've had for several years now a twinging pain in my shoulder when doing certain exercises - he thinks it is probably a rotator cuff injury. So he gave me a set of 4 exercises to do with very light weights that he said if I'm faithful to 3x a week for 6 months, I will see a big difference in my twinging pain. Also gave me some stretches to do afterwards. Then he proceeded to work my arms to death! But the rotator cuff exercises I can certainly do at home with my own weights, so I'm going to give it a shot.
Got my 10k steps in yesterday. When I walk at lunch now I switch shirts to a tank, because I don't want to get a farmers tan for the wedding in september. Another nice day here, but increasing humidity. Also did some classical stretch this morning, but my sore arms couldn't handle it for long!

I'm new to this chat. I worked with a trainer between bmx and DIEP. I was able to gain full ROM just before the second surgery. It's been more of a challenge coming back but I'm determined to be fit again before surgery July 30. I work with my trainer M-W-F and ride exercise cycle for an hour or walk 3 miles in between. Because a small bit of abdominal muscle was taken during DIEP, core workout is limited. Yesterday I asked if I would ever plank again and was told yes, just not soon. Patience, grasshopper, is hard for me to hear.

Welcome teacher64! I am a retired teacher, as is Kindergarten (try to guess what grade she taught
). Patience is so boring, isn't it?!!!!I did my Core and Pilates classes this morning. The wind has died down but now it is rainy and sweatshirt-cold.....boo hoo!

Been swimming a lot, running a little and doing my circuit training workout 2x week. Headed to the gym this evening for a circuit while I wait for my DD's 2 hour soccer practice to end. It's perfect timing and the location is next door to my gym so no excuses for me.

Ruthbru - 36 years of middle and high school language arts and social studies. I love being retired!

I beat you! 38 years middle school special education. I love being retired too, but still sub once and awhile to get my' kid fix'!

Ran about 2.5 miles this morning. Would have run longer if I'd gotten up earlier, but it was too darn hot. Part of every morning right now still revolves around doing canine physical therapy with our dog, Zoe, who had surgery, and getting her out for a slow walk, so that cuts into my available running time.

Ruthbru - I was aiming for a few more years but heart issues got in the way, so I hung up my chalk or dry erase markers! I was asked to sub and politely declined. I'd rather spend time with my grandgirls, volunteer, and do my heart healthy workouts.

Walked 30 minutes this evening and did some weights for upper body. I have graduated from 3 pounds to 5. Woo-hoo.
Ruth it seems your weather has been similar to ours. We had horrible thunder two nights ago. Last night the power went out. I hope we won't see the sweatshirt weather though.
Pat, watch the strap lines too, depending on the dress you are wearing. When I'm out i tend to wear scoop neck Ts or V necks and it seems I can't even out my tan, even if I put 45 sunscreen on the tan part and nothing on the white parts.
Welcome, Teacher. Ah you retired ladies, I'm so jealous. I can't even dream of retirement yet.

hi everyone. I have been off this site for a while and cannot believe I have missed 50 pages...I have been hearing the voices and have been getting back into regular exercise since the school year ended.
I have just started the couch to 5k101 program and about to wrap up week 2. I am up to jogging(very slowly) for 2&1/2 min followed by walking for 2&1/2 min for 5 times. I have never been able to run before so I am pretty excited with my progress.
Glad to be back and looking forward to reading how everyone is doing.
