To those in the path of the storms, please stay safe. Nasty weather lately. Ruth, your new workout sounds serious...LOL
Mary, those lines were unbelievable. Guess you won't need the blanket tonight but it will be nice for fall or early Spring games. Try not to melt tonight as it really is stifling.
Welcome Ginger48 and teacher64!!!! Like Twohobbies, I can only dream of retirement at this point...
Exercise today was bootcamp.

Wow, I'm so far behind on this thread.
Kindergarten, Granddaughter exercise is the best kind to
get!Ruth, leave it to you to make a FUN exercise picking up
branches. One of the reasons I love this thread!Annie, hoping Zoe recovers from surgery quickly!
Teacher, Welcome! You will love these ladies!
Hoping everyone is staying safe in these storms. I've been a
bad girl and haven't exercised for the past two days. Today was infusion day
and tomorrow is a bright new day!!0 -
Welcome Teacher and welcome back Ginger. Good to see you Claire. Annie hope Zoe is well on the road to recovery. Pat your trainer sounds like he really knows his stuff, nice that he gave you the exercises to do at home, now you just have to do them

Today did 2 classes Body Combat and Body Jam, a fighter and a dancer yeah that's me

Had a very funny incident at my house this morning, was woken up by my cat Frank tapping me awake so up I got and went to the kitchen where I found the cat 'crunchy' bowl empty, I then saw that the dogs water dish was absolutely putrid with dirt and then I noticed all funny little footprints all over the kitchen floor, I looked outside and there were candy wrappers everywhere .... Luckily I watch a lot of Investigation Discovery so I was able to conclude that our local raccoon had paid us a visit through the night, we have a little window that's open for the cats, obviously the raccoon decided he'd come on in and have himself a feast.

Get that raccoon a toothbrush after all that candy!
Time to walk. It's going to be a hot one today.

Cheryl - Wild Kingdom, right in your own kitchen. Those raccoons are clever little things, aren't they?
Ginger - good to see you back! Keep on truckin'!
Annie - although PT is a pain, knowing dogs I bet Zoe is enjoying being the center of attention.
We had a Nats game last night. We tried something different - we used the DC bikeshare bikes to get there. It really worked! We took the Metro down to Union Station, which is on the same line as the one near our home, so we didn't have to change lines (that can take forever sometimes). There are racks by Union Station, and racks right next to the ballpark. We just picked up a bike at Union Station, biked the two miles to the ballpark, then parked the bikes in the ballpark racks, and walked in. It was fun pedaling across Capitol Plaza, past the Supreme Court, with all the other DC sights in the distance. We enjoyed it thoroughly and will probably make that one of our alternate ways to get to games. Although we're not quite to Claire's level yet!

Two hobbies, thanks for the reminder, I will watch the straps - wedding isn't until september so I have weeks and weeks of being careful about tan lines.
Mary, that sounds like a great way to get to the park.
Got a walk in at lunch yesterday, but overslept this morning so no classical stretch. Gym bag in the car, though I must say right now I'm not feeling it - but I will at least go and do something. The trainer gave me a pep talk the other night, said pick 3 days a week and schedule my workouts just like I do training sessions. He's right of course, because there are so many excuses I can come up with in the summer since it's light out so late.

hi everyone, i've been reading some of these post to remind myself to exercise. wonderful to read what's happening here!
Haven't done much yet, as still going through chemo and the first cycle wasn't so good. will probably lurk in the background most of the time.. am happy to share that today i did "exercise".. if walking the dog for one tiny round in a neighbourhood playground is considered exercise!
0 -
Welcome, yen! Yes, any exercise counts, and I think we'd all agree that you get bonus points for anything you do during chemo. I had days during chemo when walking from the bed to the living room was a major effort, so if you managed to walk around the block, I'm impressed!!

Mary....bike share is the way to go to all sorts of events. Such as the strawberry festival last Saturday. You cycle in and avoid the parking fees. Congrats on doing this.
It was HOT here yesterday. This, after a chilly June. Plus a lot of work. I did a 2 mile walk after I got home, as no way was I doing a run. Will be delightful for the rest of the week with highs in the 70s and sunny!
Ginger....I started running about 15 months ago. Just slow 5k runs, but keeps up my fitness level and has made me a better cyclist.
This weekend will be 100 miles total as need to be ready for the big ride which is coming up in 10 days. Should be exciting, and fortunately, know I am fit enough after my workout last weekend. Run planned for tonight. - Claire

Welcome, yen! I would just put on my tennis shoes and walk around and around the living room and ABSOLUTELY count it as exercise during chemo! Just do what you can.
Finally a gorgeous day here for our Wednesday Walking Women. It was my turn to make the facebook poster. I think turned out cute, so here it is:

Wednesday Walking Women are looking very good. Welcome Teacher64, Ginger and yensmiles! Ms_mez,logistics are working in your favor and good going on the swimming. Had my McKenzie Method appointment yesterday and have a series of
exercises to do. Self management will be reviewed in 3 weeks time. Over
all, I'm in good shape and running seems not to be an issue and NatsFan, more balance tick - as that is one component of the exercises. Watched Wimbledon today - Serena sickie meltdown to tears to going out and Murry bowing out. Top players are falling and more to come at the end of today.Power step and body balance at the gym this morning.

running up and down stairs today, and hopefully will get a walk in later

Great picture Ruth.
Incline training on the treadmill this evening.

Great pic Ruth, you are very clever. Claire we were talking last night about 'big buff boys' who come into Spin class get on the bike and have to get off cause they just don't have the endurance. LB sounds like your appointment went well, glad you've got some exercise to see if it helps.
Did Sh'bam this morning and went to Body Combat tonight, it may have been a bit much as I am now very very tired I'd really like a massage but as I say I'm too tired to go out

The 10% chance of rain is pouring. Not complaining because we need every drop in this drought. Treadmill time because it's dry. Today I have time with my trainer. It's a great day.

ginger, good for you with c25k - I have tried that a few times, then get up to about week 6 and stall with progress. But I always tell myself that it's not a race, and if I need more than a week at one of the levels, then that is fine, since I am still maintaining whatever week I get stuck at. Maybe I will pick it up again, it always gives me a good cardio workout.
So I go to the gym yesterday (even though I didn't want to she says with a little halo over her head), and there is a big sign with lots of small print on the front of the building - uh-oh I think, another gym gone under. No, instead they are announcing that the gym will be closed from July 5 - July 14 for renovation. So next week I will need to be creative with working out.
Walked yesterday at lunch, and a little legs and cardio at the gym, and a little classical stretch this morning. Hazy hot and humid here, waiting for rain tonight. Happy 4th everyone!

did a 40 minute bike ride today.
Pat01- that is how I am approaching this whole experience. If I need extra weeks, so be it. Still better than being stuck on the couch.

Love the festive poster of you Wednesday walkers. I had a nice run thru the woods yesterday and it was just a bit cooler in the trees than out on the road though I cannot really call this hot and humid weather cool at all. Jumped in the pool for a quick swim afterwards just some moderate laps - mostly breast stroke but some crawl. Swimming is hard work and I feel it on my surgery arm and underarm. Woke up with stiffness in my underarm and back this morning so I've been stretching it today. Gonna keep swimming but try more variety in my strokes to go easier on the arms. Off to the gym with my dd for a circuit training session this afternoon.

Thanks Cheryl.
Body balance and pink pilates this morning.

Welcome to all new ladies!
Annie, so sorry about your precious dog.
I am at Emerald Isle, NC in a beach front house this week on our vacation. Hurricane Arthur will be hitting us later tonight! We are not under any type of evacuation (voluntary or mandatory) so we are riding it out. The ocean is angry and will get angrier. I'm watching 2 crazy people swimming and riding in waves in the dangerous water. They're making all of us nervous!
Thank goodness we have plenty of beer to get us through this!

Yikes, I was wondering how you were doing, Wonderland. Get rid of Arthur before I show up, okay?!
Went to Core & Pilates & have been cleaning, making food, washing bedding & the like since then. I have company coming in later tonight (I think I will have time to squeeze Zumba in...we'll see), our annual 4th of July picnic in the backyard for family & friends tomorrow, and Saturday is a bunch of small town stuff (parade, antique car show in the park, music, food....lots of activities plus the county fair is here). So I will be busy, busy....probably not any formal exercise unless I can sneak in some walks, but lots of moving anyway. Happy Birthday, America!

Beautiful day here today. I trimmed the hedge the old-fashioned way since our electric hedge trimmer broke. Then I went to the lake and walked for 50 minutes. I did two sprints during that walk, but I couldn't bear to do 3. Did some 5 lb weights upper body and now going to stretch.
Oh Wonderland, I hope your vacation does not get ruined by that Arthur. There's always a couple of nuts who decide its a good time to windsurf or surf or go swimming! Man never seems to learn that Mother Nature is more powerful than us.

wonderland- stay safe.
The surf was churning up in RI today too. I got in a 30 minute walk on the beach. It was HOT so those crashing waves felt good.

Four reps of sit ups, presses with weights(first time since surgery), lat pulls and three reps of "pre" plans, box steps and walking carrying weights. Then it was time for shoulder stretches. I felt wonderful.

Great job teacher!
Stay safe Wonderland and enjoy your vacation at the beach. It should be gorgeous once the storm passes.
Went to bootcamp tonight. What a workout! They are having a two hour class tomorrow but I will have to pass. Planning to get some swimming and aqua jogging in over the weekend.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy 4th of July holiday.

Ok, so today walked the dog (and the cat - she likes to stalk us) around both big blocks. Weeded two gardens after work and totalled just over 9000 steps. Yesterday I did some Presidential exercise, trimming trees and cutting up branches that came down in the last storm.
Welcome to all the new ladies, very nice having you here with us.
To all my American friends, have a very happy Independence Day tomorrow!!!

My poor dog is having a case of the heebie jeebies as there are fireworks going off all around us and it's only just the beginning, it's going to be a long 24 hours

Wonderland hope you are safe and sound. Great job Teacher, you'll certainly 'feel' it tomorrow. Ruth that fair food looked so good in the FB picture, I'm looking forward to out fair which is starting next week, love to sit a people watch and of course eat all that naughty food

Went to Body Step class tonight although it was a half hearted effort on my part as I feel blah, think it's still the pneumonia as I'm still coughing and people keep telling it takes months to get back to 'normal' whatever that is these days

Today's walk will be a mile to watch the neighborhood flag ceremony and then a mile home. It always makes me feel good to see kids on decorated bikes and dogs with patriotic bandanas.
