Having trouble getting my rear in gear this week. Did 25 minutes of yoga each on Wednesday and Thursday when I got home from work, walked a half mile and back to get a sandwich for lunch today. I find it very hard to get up early enough to exercise before work to get the cardio from the rowing machine. I think I am deep in the mid-winter blahs and also feeling sorry for myself (for a number of reasons). I feel so much better after I accomplish something, but I find it so hard to get the motivation to get the accomplishment! I promise the voices and all of you that I will get my butt back on the rower this weekend and get moving......

Yoga for me too, 40 mins of AM/PM yoga DVD.  Did that after walking 45 mins @ indoor track.

Now for supper - leftovers but good ones: roast pork loin and garlic mashed roast cauliflower.

Martha, I can't make myself get up early to exercise in the cold winter mornings, either.  Maybe you have a touch of SAD (seasonal affective disorder).  Have you looked into light therapy?

    Martha,

I agree about getting up early to workout. Unfortunately in my case, it is just because I like sleep too much Loopy...

No exercise for me today as I am fighting a nasty head cold and have enough difficulty breathing. Planning to take it easy over the weekend to try to get better.

It is parting with the covers but once you strip them off and get dress it's not so bad. I do it 3 days a week, 5AM. It never gets easier but it sure feels good once you're done!

Odie: Hope this weekend sees improvement and your cold vanishes!

Nats: The paint projects all again when I bought new folding shades for the dining room. One thing leads to another!

Finished painting the bedroom. Now need to clean up. Painting is really good exercise!

No way can I go to the gym in the morning, used to but something shifted in me and now I am a night girl and when you are in the cold weather states it must be really hard to motivate yourself.

That being said I did go to the gym this morning but the classes started at 9am, I did Body Pump Express (1/2 hour instead of an hour) then Grit Cardio there was so much liquid awesome I was glowingHappy

Rhody, try as I might over the years, I could never stick to an early morning workout. Some people love it, but not me! Could you squeeze in some time right after work, or while dinner is cooking? Or sometimes in the evening even?

Wonderland, all the rooms in my house could use a fresh coat of paint......something to keep in mind if you get the urge Winking

Once upon a time I was able to get to the gym to workout at 6am but my job was right across the street so it was easy. Now I have to be at work at 7:30 and it's a 45 minute drive so no way am I going to try and get to the gym at 5am, or even get up to workout at home that early. I also love my sleep in the morning.

    30 mins treadmill today.

    Night sculpted friends.

Back in the day, I did my weights/crunches routine on my way into the shower prior to heading out for the train into NYC. Now I do the crunches in the AM, and the weights while cooking dinner. I do the walk after work, but then I have a safe place to walk a couple of miles. Boring, but effective. There is a gym in my building, but I would much rather work out by being outside.

In a month or so, it will be light enough for a run after work. But even now, even doing a walk after dark, even doing a walk in the rain....it lifts those midwinter blues. I won't have any whilst skiing next weekend. I will be euphoric in the snow and sun. Not to mention that I will get to share with my guy.

I remember reading a number of years ago that the health editor of the New York Times made a simple change in her life. She WALKED the 1.5 miles to the post office and back. She found that for the first time in a long time, she didn't gain those customary 5 lb.

My birthday is Monday so a weekend of feasting ahead! Off to put color on my head to keep that illusion of youth going. Then a walk or run. Wish me luck making mayonnaise from scratch today. For the celeri remoulade, one of my faves which I haven't had in years. But only works with real mayo. - Claire

4500 meters on the rowing machine this morning. Off to a Brewfest fundraiser at my rowing club; I will be so happy when we can get back on the water again! But right now the river is covered in ice. Tomorrow I will be helping with cleanup after the brewfest, so will surely gets lots of exercise moving tables and rowing machines around!

The golden retriever puppies are ADORABLE!!!! Nothing is better than puppy breath!

Keep up the good work ladies!

Happy Birthday Claire and good luck with the mayo!

20 mins of core/strength training today followed by 10 mins on the elliptical. Also walked about 10 holes on the golf course. What made today's workout interesting is that I'm here in the lodge where several of the players are staying and while I was in the gym several of them were there to get massages before their rounds. Needless to say, these young guys in their undies were a nice distraction while I worked out!

LARock, OMGness those puppies are so cute.  I adore goldens.

Martha, attawoman for getting at it this morning.  You deserve some brewskis!

Claire, homemade mayo is easy to make.  You're a good cook so I'm sure it will be yummy. Happy B-Day!

It was in the 40's here today, and sunny, so took my grimy salt-encrusted car thru the car wash.  Busy place this afternoon.  Came home and headed out for a walk.  Logged 3.7 miles in an hour so a pretty good pace.  Put a spaghetti squash in the oven to bake (very tasty with marinara) and did 40 mins AM/PM yoga DVD.

Here's a Voice saying keep up the good work everyone! ♥ to all

Gosh those puppies are gorgeous, nothing nicer than puppy breath unlike one of the dogs I am dog sitting right now who found cat poo delicious and then wanted to give me a kiss eewwwwwwwwBawling and sounds like your morning in the gym was fun Winking Badger glad you were able to get out and walk in the sunshine, hate to tell you but I had to turn on the air conditioning in my car today. Happy Birthday Claire.  Mary the kids started playing baseball at the field behind my house so your season must be going to start soon.

Well today I did a trifecta  - did Grit Strength where we must have done 100 push ups as it was 5 clean and presses, five dead rows then fifteen push ups and we did it over and over and over, then did Body Combat left that gym and went to another where I did Body Flow, right now my arms feel like they could fall off.

Only excercise I did yesterday was folded last load hubby's laundry. Today is a load of my laundry and make the chili in the crock-pot!

Got in a run yesterday then took my bicycle out of the car and washed off all the sand and mud prior to putting on my bicycle rack. Then off to Seattle for a bit of retail therapy. Found two amazing items at the resale shop....worth about $1000. I got them for $80. One is a gorgeous cashmere/silk maroon blouse, and the other is a pair of Wolford leggings. They will work much better for a romantic ski weekend (the in front of the fire) than the baggy cashmere sweats I normally don post wet/chilly ride or ski.

Then off to the wine bar where I kicked off my birthday with a glass of sparkling Gewurtztramminer, followed by a glass from the last bottle of a wine I adored (2001 cabernet blend). Both on the house as their present to me. I also got to tell Sarah in person how sorry I was that she lost her beloved dog Lucy last week.

I came home with a bottle of sparkling wine of another grape varietal, Muller Thurgau. This for tonight's dinner.

Unfortunately, I learned that mayo is ridiculously easy to make with the right shaped bowl and a whisk. Even better, extremely easy to clean up afterwards. This is not good news as I can easily eat the whole thing! I need to get some milder olive oil though if I am going to use with something like a seafood salad. The batch I made is very pungent, fine for a celeri remoulade, but too strong for a lot of things.

I need to get started on the cake and also joint the chicken for tonight's dinner. I am so excited to be doing this. First real dinner party here. Yes, I have had made dinner for my guy a number of times, but no one else.

Happy exercise everyone. Looks like I might get to do my run in sunshine today. This will be followed by a long walk once everyone arrives so we can view the very wild pond, which my Seattle friends don't get to do very often. Can't wait for the festivities to continue.

Will let you know how it all goes. - Claire

    Winner winner chicken dinner!  Winking

We're also having chicken dinner tonight.  Locally-raised bird slow-roasted with yams & Brussels sprouts.  I've got a few Ambrosia apples that are just past prime so we'll have some nice warm homemade applesauce too.

Did 20 mins AM yoga, now on to Jan. bookwork but will walk later.  ♥ to all

Hi All - I'm just going to jump in here. I walked 2 miles on a walking trail today. We have great weather here today, sunny and in the 60's.

Mommyof2, I am also doing laundry and had put the chili in the crockpot before I left. Smelly yummy!

Happy Birthday, Claire!  I won't even try making mayo even if it looks easy. I don't need more temptations, yikes!

Cheryl, wish we had the Grit stuff at my gym. I need something new as I'm getting lazy. This week I skipped Body Combat and Saturday Zumba. Looks like I'll miss Body Jam tomorrow as well (heading for the mountains).

I did just 20 minutes of yin yoga last night. Today, walked 40 minutes in the snow and I'll still do my own BodyJam Express in the bathroom with steam from the bathtub (sort of like hot yoga). I'm thinking of setting up an aerial yoga hammock at home. Has anyone else tried aerial yoga?

Getting my exercise with my pooch - walking around the neighborhood and throwing the ball in our yard. She doesn't quite "get" bringing it back to me yet, so I am having to "fetch" it myself!

    Welcome, SummerSun!

Heidi, I don't even know what aerial yoga is; but it sounds like a way that I could seriously injure myself Loopy

Claire, I KNOW that you will have a wonderful birthday!

30 minutes on the treadmill & 40 minutes of pilates with Denise Austin.
