What a great post.  Thanks for all the wonderful welcomes.

I was wondering if anyone has to travel for their treatment.  I'm in a rural area and have to travel 5 hrs (although my daughter lives there along with some friends) to get to a good women's breast center.  I could of stayed in my area but I didn't like the way my biopsy was handled (my city drs. even questioned it) and my first dr. told me not to worry about my lump. Plus there are few choices. So anyway traveling has been difficult, but well worth it, getting top notch treatment.  Anyone else want to share on how they made it easier.

Agian thanks for all the welcomes.  Lots of hugs.

suz...I dont know where you are but in NY they have places for women in treatment to stay free with others that they are also in treatment until its over.

Can you have the treatment in the city but all the blood work locally?

Suz - I live in a rural area, initially I was going to try and stay local but my biopsy was screwed up too so I travel a little over an hour and a half for most of my doctors.  It wasn't so bad when I was not working and in active treatment, now I find it very inconvenient.  I have to take a full day off from work, even for just one appointment and to coordinate appointments is difficult because the days they see patients differ.  That being said, I am very confident in my doctors and it is well worth the trips.  My sister lives about 3 miles from most of my doctors so when we have a procedure or surgery, we usually stay with her.   I know it is not 5 hours but hopefully you can coordinate your appointments to make the best of each trip.

o2bhealthy, good to hear from you.  I actually know your area because a long time ago I went to NAU, love your area.  I'm in the pacific north west now.  I am also confident in my dr, so it helps.  So far the breast center has coordinated all my appoints (they have been great and very comprehensive), so next Wed. I have a consult with genetics, onco and acupuncture app..

Seyla, they don't have a free place to stay but they do have a $25 a night place, but a little moldy.  I've stayed in some hotels and at my daughters.  Hopefully it won't add up in cost over runs.  I'm going to take sometime off from work so I can stay up there for some treatment.  Thanks for the ideas.  Lots of hugs

Michelle, that is the best news. Yes! You are awesome.

Meece and Rajkumari, congratulations on your anniversaries. It is just a great reason to celebrate.

Meece, how did your cookies turn out? What kind did you bake?

Suz3, I have been going to an acupuncturist regularly since I have been diagnosed with BC. He recently mentioned that tai chi is just great to try. Did you mention in earlier posts that you do tai chi (spell?)

    Congrats on your news, Michelle!

I made a batch of fudge, spritz cookies, basic iced sugar cookies, stained glass cookies, and persimmon cookies.  I packed everything into a pack for DS & DIL, FDIL's mother, a platter for Dhs work, and a care box to military son.  I have four cookies left here. Love to bake, hate the calories, so I had the best of both worlds.

I commuted about an hour for my drs and tx.  I got a job in the same city, so I comuted to work and drs during chemo.  I was gone about 10 hours a day.  I got my kids in school in that city so I coul spend time with them daily, before I crashed out of exhaustion.During chemo I moved into the same city as my drs and that really helped.  I did all of my rads during my lunch hours.

Meece - IMPRESSIVE!  Not just that you did all that and kept only four cookies, but all that you did your your treatment....

Now, as for those cookies - persimmon?

Mmmm Persimmon, made with persimmon pulp and raisins, nuts if you don't have people in your family who are allergic.  Somewhat of a spice cookie.

Sounds delicious, never heard of them.  I saw persimmons in bulk at Costco today and wanted to try one after reading here but couldn't commit to 20 of them :)  I am allergic to mango and papaya, are they related?

I don't know if they are.  I You must eat them when they are very ripe.  I think I only got one of the cookies, and now, writing about them, I am really craving one.

Good morning all!  Happy Cyber Monday.  I will be doing Christmas shopping online, today, in my jamies!!  haha

Oakley--so sorry you're feeling down.  Hope you never get too tired/sad to come here.  We're here for you!

Michelle!!!  Oh yippee!  I trust you're recovering well at home.  Glad you were "sprung" in time for Thanksgiving!  VERY HAPPY the news is good!!!

3jays, sending my condolences, too! :(

jp3--Welcome!  You're in the right place.  These ladies on here are awesome!  I was DX'd this past summer, too. BMX, TE's, exchange.  It's a roller coaster. I was DX'd years ago with osteopenia.  I was on fosamax for a couple years, but have been on Boniva now for 2-3 years.  I also take calcium and vit. D.  Have had 3 bone density tests and it's not getting worse.  I know there's controversy about fosamax (haven't heard it about boniva), so it's between a rock and a hard place.  But when you think, that even a sneeze could cause a breakage, I decided to go with the prescription.

Meece--so happy for you.  Joining your happy dance.  Congrats!

Welcome to all you other newbies.  Sad for you, but happy you've found us!

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving with a bunch of my family.  Couldn't post much, as my sister's computer died while visiting!!  You ladies, were in my giving thanks prayer, for such support, encouragement, and strength.  THANK YOU!

Hi ! catbill, onestep, thanxs !  day will come for all of us to celebrate cancervarsary. I should say that,  teatment  in India and other countries can not be compared as there is less good clinics. Most of the high profile doctors are working in other countries. However,my treatment in All India Institute of medical Science was successful and getting stamped of  5 years survival. I had faced lots of problem during the treatment but I took it very lightly, never serious and damed care for the outcome. I can share my experience during chemo, radiation  etc.if you need to hear from India.

    RAJ-

I, too, would like to hear about treatment in your country.  My oncologist is from your country, and went to medical school in Mumbai.

I am only 2 months since DX, and I only dream about being 5 years out from treatment.  It seems a long way off.

I have a problem. i wonder if anyone else ever experienced this.

I'm seeing this white flash popping at least 4-5 times a day in the corner of my left eye.

I googled it got some info but today I decided to make an appointment with my eye DR for next week.

My left hip and my back is hurting not all the time or when I'm walking but sometimes its painful to get up from the couch or even turn in the bed.

If those things were happening to me before my DX I wouldn't even be paying attention.

But now everything scares me. I don't know if I should see a DR or wait little longer.

I'm feeling so uneasy with my body. I don't like this feeling. Im making myself all nervous.

I have so much to be thankful for but........

    Thank You for listening.

Read this thread everyday but don't post much.  Don't know why.  Have had such a hard time with rads and have posted on that one alot.

Almost done - Friday will be the end of 30 txs - 25 + 5 boosts.  Really wiped out now and find the feeling frustrating.  Just want to get my energy back.

I usually spend my evenings designing and sewing quilts.  Haven't been in my sewing room in 2 months and really miss it.  Just can't focus right now.  Hope I can get back to it.  I have a lot of scraps and enjoy making quilts for children in our area that need go without a lot of basic things.

Okay - going to stop whining right now.  Just feeling a little depressed.

    Hi,

The white spots in your eye sounds like "floaters"  little flakes of fluid.  I would check it out to make sure - I have had them.  Not serious but please go to the eye doctor.

The hip pain and joint pain is something I get when I don't do the excerses - I get stiff from Arimidex.  Please check with your doctor.  Maybe they will tell you to take advil.  Good luck

Seyla - I have also had floaters - it started with a flash and then became like little black bugs moving around that I wanted to swat.  It should be checkd but is not horrible.  I know we all worry about everything now, but probably you have a little arthritis or just not 30 anymore kind of stiffness :)

RCG.....I had the black bugs i used to do the same thing LOL

    They stopped now I'm flashing.

I don't care about the discomfort or the pain. But to me everything is related to the C.

I should be better after 5 years.

What kind of message I'm sending to all the newbies.

    Sorry Everyone.
