seyla888:  CONGRATS on finishing your treatment!  That's so awesome!

grannydukes:  Great news about the GS...congratulations to you and your family!

    annettek: LMAO @ "hairy eyeball"!

I'm now 3 weeks post-lumpectomy and have had TWO drug-free nights of sleep (not perfect nights but good enough) and while I have some discomfort throughout the day, I'm having short periods while sitting still where I forget I had surgery! Yay!

Should hear about the Oncotype this week so I'm stuck waiting anxiously for yet another piece of news that scares the crap outta me. Frown  Assuming that doesn't blow my "no chemo" plan, I start radiation in early May after I come back from a much needed (and long planned) vacation! Anxious to start yet want to be in denial about it all!! lol

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend...

granny....I started Femara on March 23 2006. My DR wanted me to stop last month but i didnt want to. Im wondering if i will get withdrawal or something. DR says no. Pharmacist says no.

But I really want someone in real life telling me that.

ajtina..Thanks for the well wishes but I'm really nervous about stopping the pill.

I must be a nut case. It doesn't feel like Happy Dance to me.

I hope your oncotype comes back low.

Sheila - Congrats on the Femara countdown - you are going to be alright.  Think positive thoughts.

This is just for you my friend

ajtina - Glad you are recovering well - sending gentle hugs and hoping your oncotype test comes back low - no chemo for you.  Enjoy the vacation - you deserve it.

Raincity- My score of 1 was the oncotype score- I wanted the test. I think the surgeon  is probably in the ballpark that I can just go on with my life versus the oncologist who believes tamoxefen.... are the answers. I need a repeat vag. ultrasound before doing anything else which i am sure will be next week.  I believe armid... is for postmenopausal women which I am not.  I think also some of the difference between Tina and myself is that I feel that I have to advocate and search for good medical care... Its been a challenge - something for me to work on so good point Tina.

    thanks for the assitance.

Baklava was my favorite pastry when I was in Turkey.  I have never tried to make it but may have to try one day.

    Hi, Sheila....

My name is Meece, and I was a stage 1

(I noticed you changed the header Wink)

I wish my radar would get a clear field, no more blips.  In January and February I had two diagnostic mammos, one screening mammo on th eother breas, two ultrasounds, and an MRI.  I was told a tenative all clear by the head radiologist, but she wanted to take it to an expert MRI rad, who was a pioneer in the field.  I then got the call that said they would just follow up in 6 months.  I relaxed.  On Thursday I saw my onc and almost immediately she said she wanted to do a MRI Guided bx.  She wanted to see me in person to tell me.  She says there is still something "crazy" going on in there.  She was also concerned about the BE around that area, not a lump but a gushy, inflamed texture in that quadrant.

Anyway, I wonder if she is just being super careful, and if doctors are allowed to be that careful (by insurance)?  Last time I had a bx on this site (18 months ago) it took insurance 3 weeks before they approved, and I was allowed to schedule.  Friday I recieved a call that said they were ready to schedule my bx.  It sure seems quick!  Am I just blowing this out of proportion?  I hope they can suck all the questionable area out, then I won't have to go through this again with this zone.

Sorry, for sort of ranting.  I just  was curious how careful can drs be? (I am not complaining, just worried if she is thinking something needs this immediate attention.)  It seems so many times insurance holds the purse strings like a noose and we have to fight to get the best answers.

Ilovechocolate...wow a 1! My score was 11 and I was so happy and relieved. I told my BS office I was afraid it was going to be 80...she said the highest score she had ever seen was 64...

ajtina...I completely emphasize about the waiting...the oncotype test is supposed to take 10-14 days. Mine came back in 9 days. I almost added to my BC with a heart attack waiting for the call. When I saw the BS office no on my caller id I think I hyperventilated. I know it isnt a perfect test but it is a good barometer on recurrence and affects your treatment plan. My BS had already scheduled surgery to remove a little extra tissue and install a port for chemo...When my score came back the onc said radiation, and Arimidex(not thrilled about that drug). Radiation won't be a walk in the park but I prefer it to chemo. Hopefully your test comes back early and low...diane

Ah Jo- I learned how to make it one year when I stumped as to what to get my Dad for Christmas...since it is an armenian delicacy as well, though it goes under the name of paklava-same thing- it was my crowning achievement and the look on his face when he unwrapped the box was priceless......

Meece - I don't think any of us can be too careful. This disease keeps us on our toes all the time.  I am not scheduled to have my first mammo since dx until June and then it is going to be a bilateral diagnostic - not a screening.  It will be an anxious time for me.

You are right - the insurance companies hold the purse strings and let's all hope they don't hold them too tight.  We need the assurance that we are healthy.

Welcome Back Renee!  Good to see you.

Meece:  I'm so sorry to hear they've got you in that awful place between "need to do more evaluation" and "here is the situation."  Being at the tail end of that place for the first time, I can't imagine having it happen the second time.  I have Kaiser, so I can't comment on insurance approval processes.

I hope it ends up being nothing but a false alarm from a good doc who is watching over you closely and all you get is anxiety out of it!

Sheila: I understand...but still something to celebrate!

ilovechocolate:  I hope to beat your score. Laughing

Renee:  Welcome back! I'm new but look forward to learning from your experiences!

Meece- I have found out that some docs can get just about any test down as quickly as they want...and know thatyour doc knows you and your history- well, an insurance company would not neccessarily try to push it off. I was so freaked that I convinced hospital to move up a CT scan...then more freaked when insurance denied it saying it hadn't gotten formal noticification, etc and I was on the hook for 7K. Great. naw, onc called and took care of it. ANd your doc SHOULD be careful with you- and it sounds like she is...which is a good thing...BIG HUGS and will be holding your hand across the airwaves....

Thank you, ladies. My appointment is April 8th.  It is the first opening for that procedure, the scheduler we very apologetic that I would have to wait 3 weeks.  I already have an appointment for the 14th to review findings, so at least I will not be waiting too long, but all in all it will be one more month of anxiety.
