Oh Sheila- I am sorry about your dad being in the hosptial, that is tough on him and YOU- I wish I could meet you my friend- maybe next year when I have more strength I will just rent a car and drive out to see you:) Remember to take some time for YOU while he is ill.

Sheila - I missed reading your post earlier. That is what I get for getting on the puter before coffee. Sorry to hear about your dad - it has to be tough on both of you. Be sure to take time for YOU. Keep us posted on how he is doing.

Sheila sorry to hear about your Dad. Is there any way you can go to any garden area of the hospital to just get away for things for a while? I usually try and find a quiet place to just chill... hope you can too.
Annettek, It's really tough working in an office with just so many guys that think they're more in charge than we are. Our office has project managers and "we're" their support group... they would fall flat on their faces if they didn't have us around. They have never hired a woman as a project manager! I just leave the work at work now and get outside in the yard as much as possible. Nature does wonders for my soul. I think because we are women that we have this "nurturing/fixing" mentality sometimes and feel we have to do better when we are already better. Fear an anxiety used to follow me around as constant companions. Now, I take time for myself.... and talk to the ladies here. Better company!

Annette - I know where you are coming from. When I was in the Air Force, it as a "boys club" and i had to fight to be heard sometimes even when I made the senior ranks. It really can suck.

I finally got to take some much needed time away from work and home and the stresses of life. We came to Nashville, TN last night, just my hubby and I for the weekend. Today we watched my granddaughter Sidni's cheer team compete for a national championship (they came in 5th), it was her first nationals. Tonight we are going to the Grand Ole Opry to see Carrrie Underwood and some others... very excited!!!! Tomorrow is my 47th birthday and I am so thankful to my heavely father above for another year here on this earth with my family and friends.

Thank You all for well wishes. Fortunately the hospital is walking distance.
He is holding up but every day they are finding something new. They will move him to extended care where he will stay undefinitely.
Yes I'm taking care of myself but feel exhausted.
He is on the same floor where I receive my chemo so I'm familiar with couple of nurses first name basis.
I'm so glad the days are longer so when I take my walks can walk to the hospital.
Tomorrow is my day off.

Are there any other stage 1 sisters going through chemo? Highish oncotype cx score put a kink in the plan. Just finished first round of FEC chemo. 2 more to go and then 3 rounds of "T". Feeling pretty ok - considering...

Thanks for all the Birthday wishes. I am home now and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I took some pictures that as soon as I can figure out how to upload on my new computer I will post a few. Guess it will have to wait till my DD gets home. LOL!

I need to get an idea of when I should/could go back to work. I'm down in the dumps at the moment - & will be happy as a lark in a few minutes.... Nevertheless - can you give me some idea of how long it was for you???? I'm driving DH crazy. Thanks, Martha

Mostlymom, It all depends on how well you heal and how you are feeling. For me because I didn't have much sick time. I had the surgery on Thursday, and went back to work on Monday. I did wear sweaters so I could put some ice packs under them when the pain got to me and to help with the swelling. During my hour lunch, I would take a half hour nap. Luckily we had some unused office space where I could close the door and chill.
Good luck with your decision.... everyone is different.

Hi Mostlymom and welcome! I had a lumpectomy and one node removed on 2/25 and took two weeks off work. I found that I felt much better pain-wise week 3 and mostly pain-free at week 4! Just starting to try to sleep a little on that side but still no belly sleeping, dang it!

I had chemo, finished in Aug. I had 4 cycles of AC (my oncotype score was 24---right in the middle). It was bad the day of chemo and somewhat the next day, but overall not as bad as I had anticipated. and I was able to continue to work full time, taking only the day of the infusion off. I also had B MX, hoping not to have to deal with this anymore!

Mostlymom-I had my SNB & lumpectomy on a Friday & was singing on the worship team on Sunday & back to work on Monday. In hindsight, I wished I'd taken a week or so off, but I was fine. I work in a small office & I'm in a back office so I don't have to have customer contact,etc.

Mostlymom- I also had a lumpectomy on a Thursday and went back to work the following Monday, but I sit at a desk all day and don't have to exert myself. During Chemo treatments I would have Chemo on Monday and take that week off but work the next week. I worked as much as I could because it kept my mind busy, I was very lucky that I could telework so I could check email the weeks I was off and take care of anything urgent from home. I worked the entire time I received radiation, thankfully it was cold and I could wear layers so that not wearing a regular bra was not noticable. I am adding this topic to my favorites.

Mostlymom, I had my lumpectomy and SNB on Friday and went back to work on Monday. During chemo I sceduled it for the afternoons, and missed a half day of work. I was a single mom so I had to work as much as possible. I did rads on my lunch hour.
