granny- clarly you arrived in time as Jo is home safe and sound now....and thanks for the posiive vibes...I am staying positive and keeping busy with good things while I wait..have gone rowing twice sinc emy appointment, walked 10,000+ steps today, met a dear friend for lunch and then went with some new folks to see Halifax's first roller derby!! (with a very odd 'burlesque' half time show...more like belly dancing but I guess small town halifax is not supposed to knw the differece!)...a good day!
Whack hack to anyone who is still up.....only 4 minutes to go Halifax time!

Hi Jo! I was starving when I got back home after my plane ride from TX, ha-ha! So glad you are doing well. I am getting to watch some movies on the DirecTV free weekend channels as well, or are setting some on the DVR. Have a relaxing Sunday.

Jo - I've been reading all the posts. Sounds like your procedure went well. I'm so glad. And glad you have a DH to help you at home. Wow! You had a lot of company in your pockets. What a party in there!! There are paper cups and chocolate wrappers everywhere. Hey you guys, come pick up your mess!!! Mmm...I just found a leftover piece of chocolate, my favorite!

Up early and feeling great! Slept very well. Back is a little sore from laying on those hospital days all day but that will work itself out today. Gotta get plants watered and laundry done today. Just another day. Have several more doctor appts this month and then I should be appt free for several months. Not looking back over my shoulder - today is a new day, so looking straight ahead to brighter days.

I woke up so disoriented last night...It seems that since I was up so early to be on time in Jo's pocket, that I feel asleep in there. Why didn't you girls wake me up when you were leaving? DH was wondering where I was.

All I can say is... WOW!!! Ladies you have had a busy few weeks. I have just spent an hour reading the last 12 pages to get caught up. So many new ladies having to join, it makes me sad.
So very happy for everyone that has had the recent mammo's and gotten B9 results... JO and Chabba! Jo I hope your D&C results come back great and you don't have to have a hysterectomy but if you do all is o.k. I had one 9yrs ago and like so many did great as will you.
Valjean so glad your DD2 had a B9 result and is o.k. I miss you!!!
Grannyduke your prayer for jo made me cry!!!! LOL I've become a really soft hearted sponge these days. cry at the drop of hat somedays...
As for appts in June I have one with my Rad Onco tomorrow for my 6 month checkup. The lasttime I saw him in Dec he scared the krap out of me, when he saw that nodule on my chest x-ray and I had to have a chest CT w/contrast. Of course if was all good but not at the time. He is my least fav doc. He also is the one that does the tumor marker test and I hate waiting for that thing. He causes me much stress and anxiety.
Loislee2- you were asking about all of your grandchildren being around you during chemo... I took chemo some yrs ago when I had Hodgkins disease and I went to high school during the entire 8 months I took it. I also work in an assisted living and I have had several residents over the years that have lived there take chemo and interact with other resident's and their families. I also have had friends that went through chemo and continued to work during chemo. The only times they actually didn't was when they were physically ill/nauseous from the meds. Today there have been so many advances in medicines, many have none of the ill effects from the medications other than the hair loss. But, if definitely talk to your Oncologist and get his/her input before deciding and then make the decision that is best for you and your family. Good luck.

Mimi - Thanks! It should know something in the next 10 days. Doctor is out of town this week - need to call in the morning and schedule a follow up appt for the results. I am thinking it will be negative and I can go about my business.
Shame on your rad onc for scaring you so. That is just not right. I am so glad I don't see mine anymore - he was such a moron. My MO does all my tests and schedules all my appts for mammo, etc. I really like my MO and it doesn't hurt that he is really good looking.

Hahaha Jo on your MO being good looking!!! Mine isn't and neither is my Rad onc!! But my RO is right there with the morons... LOL! My breast surgeon got the good looking genes...Yummy!!!

I love my BS - who I see tomorrow for my 1 year followup. He does 6mo for two years then annual for three. He is well past the usual age of retirement but is still recognized as one of the best in the state. I [along with half the population of the county] dread the day he does retire.
The cancer center is a satellite of a regional clinic 90 miles away. They send out a different rad onc and a different med onc for each day of the week. I was very happy with all five of the ones in rad but do not like my MO. He seems to try and avoid answering questions only gives half answers and tries to hurry you out when you do catch him. My next appointment is with someone else.

Well I have to say my RO has been the best looking but now I don't see him anymore unless I come up with some excuse. My MO missed out on the looks but I love him anyway. My BS is a female but I have really come to appreciate it because she does look at things differently than my male doctors. Once I get through my MX I really don't have to see her anymore unless I want to so I think I am going to stick to seeing here yearly, as least for awhile anyway.
I was to have an appt with my MO at the end of this month on a Friday but my son has a long weekend on that Friday and wants us to come visit so I decided I was not going to let bc rule my life. I called and rescheduled for two weeks later.

My BS was good looking, my original onc uh-no, my Rad Onc no way, my PS yes and my current med onc yes, but female. It makes a difference how you percieve a doctor if they are taking care of themselves.
A local Med onc is in big trouble for sexual misconduct this week, so many women we know rave about him. I wonder if it is because he is a slick talker.

My RO is hot but I hate him, My BS is REALLY hot and my favorite. My MO is hot, too, but shorter than me (I am 5'2").

Meece funny you mention our perception if they take care of themselves. My MO is not great looking but is very into health and nutrition and talks to me about it all the time. Probably because he knows that is important to me as well. I really like him because he will talk about health and nutrition and not just take my pill.

My Onc is cute as a button and the size of a pin. She is a petite chinees woman. VERY nice.
My GS is as animated as a cartoon character and very lovable. He is aprox. 58, Filipino, and always enters the office with a huge smile on his face.
My new PS, as of this afternoon, is much nicer looking now that I have talked to him and found he has a pleasant, helpful personality.

I'm so happy for those of you who got good results this month. And my prayers for the rest of us who will finish soon. I can't even imagine how great it will be to get this over with!

Isn't it funny that most of us find our breast surgeons nice looking as a general concensus? Wonder how that seems to happen. LOL! Well I saw my rad onc today as planned (of course I was running late after a perfectly terrible Monday at work, it seems if I ever plan a doctors appt. my boss will find a way to come to my office to "talk" about a problem with the staff and make me late). Arrrgggrrr!!!! Anyway.... he graciously agreed to go ahead and see me though I was almost 30 mins. late. He didn't do much, did a thorough check up and breast exam, drew CA-129 (cancer markers) and that will be in on Weds afternoon. He commented what a great job my plastic surgeon did on my breast reconstruction surgery with the symmetry.
And told me again that I needed to have a bone density test done since I had been changed to Arimidex. Told him I would consider it later. He also wanted to do a follow up chest x-ray and CT scan w/contrast on that scar tissue/nodule on my lung they found last Dec. I told him lets wait till Dec. My insurance didn't pay a 100% for it last Dec and I had met my deductible and right now they are applying everything from labs and tests I have done to my deductible and I am having to pay it all out of pocket. Can't afford that, so gotta wait. United Health Care stinks!!!!!0 -

Yeah Mimi. I have United Health Care also with a $5900 deductible. Eff 7/1 I go on Medicare and Supplemental so I hope everything will be paid. That could be wishful thinking. I don't know if you have hospital bills, but fyi, my son had a collapsed lung two years ago and had a high deductlble. The hospital called him wanting him to paid it all (about $3500) and when he told them he didn't have it, they reduced the amount and he paid $2500. Negotiating = WINNING! lol

Looks like I'll begin rads within the next couple of weeks. My surgeon's office just called to say my Oncotype Dx score is zero. Of course I'm happy about that, but have any of you received a score of zero?

Maybe-------i never heard of a score 0...sounds real good to me tho..hey i dont think you can get better then that.yay for you...i got a 10 and the BS was jumpin for joy....YAY>
fyi---all my drs are female....love them all.\!!!!!!!a lot!!!!!!just goes to show you how much i trust men drs.after the big shot shit head messed me up..ha.

Maybe: I found this explanation on another board hope this helps and yes there are ladies out there with very low scores and 0s:
"The way my Oncologist explained it is that the score tells the precentage of the possibility of recurrence w/ just tamoxifen compared to tamoxifen and chemo. The lower score means that there is no benefit to doing chemo in addition to tamoxifen. The higher the score the more benefit there is to adding chemo to your treatment. The test is done w/ the assumption that tamoxifen is part of your treatment."
