    Welcome Davina.

My mom is recovering from sugury.  It sounds like they did catch it in stage 1 although we won't know until the pathology is complete of course.  Thank you all for your wonderful support and prayers.

Wow, this thread is always hopping.  Even though I don't post as often on BCO as I used to I still check in and try to keep up.  Just wanted to say "Hi" to our new friends on this thread, to wish everyone a lovely weekend, and to thank you all for reminding us that there is more to life than breast cancer!!!

Hello Davina...a finer bunch of women you will not find anywhere:)

Great news hawk.....you and your mom are in my prayers and heart:)

I went away to a retreat and it was not what I expected so i tossed everything in my suitcase and headed to San Antonio and checked in a hotel and it was fabulous and cost me .29 cents total for two nights (combo points and them comping me a night which was just STRANGE and wonderful).

Funny about the retreat....I knew it was not what I needed or wanted but tried to get my head around it...I was so proud of myself for driving off in the dark (and I mean dark-it is the hill country) I stopped, got my bearings and put the roof down and cranked up the radio. I felt like I was choosing life for some reason...

Tomorrow is the big day. I went to PRMA in San Antonio for a consultation and will have my double mastectomy with DIEP reconstruction in the morning. I'm so far behind on reading all the post here but the past couple of weeks have been a whirl wind of activity. Can't say I'm not more then a little nervous, this is a big surgery (6-8 hours). Tomorrow this time one of the most famliar parts of my body will be gone but so will the monster that has turned my life upside down for the 2 months (to the day).

We left Taos on Friday spending the night in Amarillo to celebrate my husband's birthday with our family and friends which gave me an opportunity to see all. Arrived in SA late Sat afternoon and have spent the last two days settling into our temp home (included a shopping trip to San Marcus) I'm not so much afraid of the surgery, though I'm dreading the pain, as I am of the knowledge afterwards whether I will need chemo and/or rads. I know that I'm in good hands and have confidence in my surgeons and have made a promise to do whatever I need to do to decrease the risk of going through this again no matter how uncomfortable or scary it may seem. Nothing can be worse then this limbo I've lived in for the past 2 months.

Don't know when I'll be back but be assured I'll be here as soon as physically possible. Everyone stay safe and continue to fight the good fight. Each of your stories have been special providing comfort and inspiration. You are all special, special ladies (and gentlemen) and my prayers are with all of you.
