Kaara:  Thank you for the advice.  I know I need to do the radiation - it's still just so scary.  I was terrified of chemo too - but am getting through that okay.  I'm sure rads will be a breeze after all of this.  "-)

Sherry:  Hello again!  I ran during my first AC treatment, then had to stop - couldn't go to the gym because I was so terrified of germs, and frankly I had a difficult time on AC with almost no energy most days.  After AC came Taxol - and excruciating pain for 5-7 days of each treatment.  But now that the weather is getting nicer I'm working on walking as much as possible, and plan to start walking regularly next week when I get my energy back.  I am doing the Komen walk in Kalamazoo in 10 days - my DH's daughter and her husband are flying in from NYC to surprise me; his other daughter and her DH are driving in from Madison, too.  I may crawl across the finish line, but I will finish!

Slept through today's treatment - am so happy I only have ONE MORE Taxol to go!!  I can't wait.  Honestly, just very excited.  I'm wearing long pink tutu to my next treatment - will have to find a crown, too - definitely something to celebrate!

    Hi Everyone,

I'm also stage 1 - 9mm.  I finished radiation, my oncotype score was 18 and I opted not to have chemo.  I'm on my 7th week (I think, who can remember) of Aromasin and I have had one Prolia injection.  The Aromasin is the hardest part of the process, now that the waiting for results is over.

Bubbe - I agree the anti-hormonals are worse than anything else I did.  I became an arthritic old woman long before my time.

NancyHB - Mine wasn't on the left, but if it's any help at all, radiation was a breeze for me.  I'd do radiation for a year if it meant I didn't have to take these damn pills.

nancyhb good for you for doing the walk.  I like how the kids are going to surprise you! LOL If you do radiation most people get very fatigued.  I just pushed my way through with exercise.  I think it helped alot, but I also took a nap every day after rads and before I walked or did yoga.

Granny glad it does not seem as bad as your thought but I like 2nd opinions.  Keep us posted and will continue to pray for you and your son.

raincity I have been on tamox and have had the same arthritic issues.  First was my hip then that got better and it moved to my left should then neck.  Before my BMX I was in horrible pain.  I think the morphine coma I was in in the hospital helped alot.  I am not hurting any longer but just started back on tamox so we shall see.  I hate these hormonal drugs.

Happy Mother's Day everyone!  I shared a rather hectic dinner with some of the kids and grands.  The restaurant we went to was overwhelmed, not enough people to serve, and silverware and napkins in short supply.  The food was marginal and the tab was expensive!  I guess I can't complain...I didnt have to cook and I got some very nice cards and flowers.

    Hi All,

Happy Belated Mother's Day to all you mothers!  I spent mine with my mom and did get a phone call and facebook posting from my own daughter who lives so far away!  We drove an hour to have brunch with my MIL and family and waited and waited to get seated.  We were over 2 hours in the restaurant and before the food got there I had to open an orange marmalade and eat some because I was light headed from no food.  It was a beautiful day here in Chicago and after brunch, we spent a lot of time in MIL's backyard visiting and just relaxing.  Overall it was a great day!

Sheila, So glad your report came back and it isn't your heart.  Hope things even out for you! and Happy Birthday! even if it is a little late.

Hi everyone! I have a question for all of you related to ongoing testing. What tests does your onco do to monitor your health? My onco has never done a PET on me and one of my friends is adamant that this is malpractice. She insists that it's standard to do a PET on a regular basis.

Hi boatergirl....I never had a pet scan...and i believe that is not in regular follow ups....

My oncologist does tumor marker test every 4 months......some they don't believe the results of that test.

Is your friend a DR or a BC survivor?

i'm sure others will chime in about pet scan.......

    hugs♥

boatergrl - I never had a PET scan and I did specifically ask about that because I assumed I would have one at staging.  My MO feels strongly that the radiation exposure is unwarranted in my case.  I was diagnosed early, no lymph node involvement, etc.  It is not standard procedure for all patients.  I am monitored with bloodwork....tumor markers, etc.

I've never had the pet scan or the tumor marker test unless it can and may have been done in the "full blood work up".

Thanks for the info. Your are all always a wealth of info and support. My friend is neither a doc nor a survivor but is driven by the recent death of her sister to bc.

    OK....Finally I will have a new Oncologist..made arrangements....will make an appointment tomorrowSmile

I know someone who is Head NP for Oncology and she was also my neighbor for years...

Transition will be much easier...she was  there when i was getting chemo....

I feel pretty good...we talked and asked her questions....have to go and sign release papers and the first time i will have a female DR....and very local right across where my other MO was........

    Now I will belong again.

This Change of Insurance made me switch 3 of my DRs...but finally I know where I stand and to call if there is a problem.

Edited to say she is making all the arrangments no she won't be my DR..I will have a MO.

Happy Belated Mothers Day to everyone!  DH got me some beautiful flowers and went to Hardees to get us biscuits for breakfast.  We spent the afternoon at a local park/playground (thank God the rain stopped and the sun came out) to celebrate our youngest granddaughters 3rd birthday!  Her name is McKensey aka MacNCheese and she is just too precious and has her Papaw wrapped around those little fat fingers!

Boatergirl:  I had a PET scan back in October since a pre-op chest x-ray showed "something in my left lung".  The next day I had a CT scan that was "indeterminate" so my MO followed that up with a PET scan.  The diagnosis is "granuloma".  I was terrified since my Momma passed away from lung cancer on 12/31/06 and I am a former smoker.

My MO ordered a CT in March (nothing changed) and I'll have another in August.  He said if everything was still the same, we would no repeat the CT for about a year.  I'm comfortable with that and am breathing easier.

My next appointment is with my RO on the 23rd and I expect to continue to dance with NED!

    God bless y'all!
