Hi, the5owens! What is your chemo regimen? Are you interested in joining a closed group on Facebook for TN only? If you are, let me know and I will get your info to one of the administrators. It has been a great support and resource for me. Sounds like you may have had surgery prior to chemo?

Ladies, does anyone on this site have any side effects from Lorazapam (Ativan)? Please do tell, as I want to see if the problems I am having may be related to that. I take just 1 mg. some nights. If you notice anything that you might may be the side effect of this wonder drug, please let me know.

Nice one Annie.. ha ha ha !!
The5owens... thinking of you for October 1.... you are strong, you will come out the other side. The waiting and anticipation I found way the worse thing.

Tazzy rads were so easy compared to chemo. The worst part is the going everyday and fatigue. I had no burning or anything. My RO gave me a lotion called Miaderm and I used it faithfully.
Hope so glad you were able to post.
Born yay for your great news!

CS - I "stole" your picture for my blog. It is so funny!!!

5owens: Good luck. The first one is always the most anxiety provoking but once you get that one under your belt you're one step closer to the end and you'll know what to expect. I found charting my symptoms each day helped me to find a pattern of the "good days" and not as good days with my side effects. We'll be right there with you. GO get em Girl!!!

http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-09-25/five-cent-diabetes-pill-from-1958-may-be-new-cancer-drug For those who are on the Metformin study. Some positive info. to read.
It was Tuesday night I couldn't sleep well. I saw this special on PBS about scans and how they produce so many false positives, and then patients are over treated. Most Drs. said patients would have lived with rather than died from most things discovered. Also, most of the doctors that were interviewed came to the same conclusion that too many scans produce cancer in most cases. However, no one said what a better solution would be either. So I guess it comes down to a personal choice. What can you tolerate??!!?? Also with a TN dx being proactive to me is always a good thing.
Cocker that pix is tooo fun-nay!!
Inmate and Hope (((HUGS)))
Lovelyface-nice to see you again
Standard of Care-It is so confusing. I am checked every 3 mos with a breast exam, blood draw and then he takes this mallet and pats it down my back. Since I had a BMX I am not due for a Breast MRI just yet.

The following came from an anonymous Mother in Austin, Texas...
Things I've learned from my boys (honest and not kidding):A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. ft. house 4 inches deep.
If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.
A 3-year old Boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.
If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20 x 20 ft. room.
You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on. When using a ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.
The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.
When you hear the toilet flush and the words "uh oh", it's already too late.
Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.
A six-year old Boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year old man says they can only do it in the movies.
Certain Lego's will pass through the digestive tract of a 4-year old Boy.
Play dough and microwave should not be used in the same sentence.
Super glue is forever.
No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water.
Pool filters do not like Jell-O.
VCR's do not eject "PB &J" sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do.
Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.
Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.
You probably DO NOT want to know what that odor is.
Always look in the oven before you turn it on; plastic toys do not like ovens.
The fire department in Austin, TX has a 5-minute response time.
The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.
It will, however, make cats dizzy.
Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.
80% of Men who read this will try mixing the Clorox and brake fluid.
Those who pass this on to almost all of their friends, with or without boys do it because:
a) For those with no children - this is totally hysterical!
b) For those who already have children past this age, this is hilarious.
c) For those who have children this age, this is not funny.
d) For those who have children nearing this age, this is a warning.
e) For those who have not yet had children, this is birth control0 -

Thanks for the link to the article about Metformin, Fighter. We still have a long time to wait before there is any firm evidence. In the meantime, the story continues to be promising.

you and I can wait together OBXK! Had mine 2 days ago. I hate the no eating thing when they schedule you in the afternoon. It is cruel and unusual punishment!

Thanks for posting the metformin article, Fighter. I've been taking the stuff for pcos for 16 years. Here I am with breast cancer, so I guess I wouldn't be helpful to their study. Although who knows, may breast cancer would have come sooner if I hadn't been taking it. I'll be curious to see their results.

Mags - I hope all the best for you! The freaking machine went down, just as I was going in, had to wait an additional 2 hours. I was feeling very fussy!

My PCP prescribed metformin for me when I asked for it and showed her the trials....can't tolerate the amount they are using in the trial.
Celebrating that my bilateral breast MRI one year PFC is NORMAL!!!!

Just saw on the news tonight that a woman tried to "fake" breast cancer so she could get implants...seriously...she is going to spend a year in jail...good for her...gah..

Titan... that is sick. A year in jail ?? I'd make her do chemo, mx with no recon and radiation. Disgusting !

Lovely, I took Ativan for a year, but never had any side effects. Sometimes I had a rapid hearbeat, but I was never sure if it was just anxiety or the one of many meds I was taking at the time!

Painting: I am part of the study and could not tolerate the 2 pills a day but in the study it says you can just take 1. So I'm just doing the 1.
Titan: That is SICK. Not sure if you remember the incident of the woman who faked cancer to get money from a fundraiser at her school where she taught. Some people are sick and desperate.
Just came home from Yin Yoga and feel really good - exactly what I needed tonight.

borntosurvive....Thank you that is good news. That is what I am doing but taking half inthe morning and half at night. How are you doing it.
Titan...well why doesn't that surprise me....I am sure she isn't the first.
Lovely...I took ativan during/before chemo and other tests....barely made a dent in my anxiety. For me it did next to nothing so I didn't have any side effects. I don't know what would happen if they had given me more but the first treatment I had 2mg and felt next to nothing. I did not get sleepy or calm or disoriented. I may have been a little less anxious but had to use my friends to distract me and get me through those first days.

I am taking the full pill with my dinner. It seems to help when I have a meal in my stomach and also if I get a stomach ache, it's when I'm sleeping. So that seems to work. I have tried 2 pills a few times and the result is me not being able to digest anything or eat anything raw. Not worth the constant trips to the bathroom and stomach cramps. I was happy that I could just take the 1 pill and still stay in the study. Good luck with yours. There are some promising stats coming out.

Hello lovely ladies! Just wanted to drop in and wish everyone well. Haven't posted in a while but I try to stop by every week and read up! I celebrated my 3 years as a TNBC survivor on Sept 22nd. Spent the day at the ball park with my family watching my 10 year old son play baseball and then the evening with friends. Can't think of a better way to celebrate being alive!!!! Just know that I continue to keep all of you in my thoughts daily. Not a day goes by that I don't realize that there are so many fighting hard for their lives.
