Calling all TNs

So very, very sorry to hear of Dawn's passing - she was truly an inspiration to all of us. I hope that her family and friends are comforted by the fact that she is finally at peace. To those of us who shared her journey with her, we are priviledged to have known her and benefitted from her advice and knowledge. To those who have only joined our group recently, Dawn (Inmate) was a lovely lady who did not go down without a fight - she was valiant throughout her illness and should be an inspiration to everyone to not give up. Rest In Peace, dear Dawn. {{HUGS}}

Hi All....I am sorry to hear about you friend Dawn. I am kinda new here. I came home from the hospital and logged on to get some feedback and saw the bad news.
I was just told that in addition to my cancer being TN it also shows choriocarcinomatous differentiation. Apparently this is very rare and there isn't much info about it. Does anyone out there have the same thing or have any info to share. My rug has been pulled out from under me.

Doreen said it so very well. Dawn showed me what a true Warrior is. Peaceful journey dear Sister. I'll see you on the other side.
Una - I'm so sorry for your news. I did find one article for you, but it is not specific to TN, and it is very, very technical. I will give you the link if you want, but I think you would be better served by info your MO gives you.0 -
I am relatively new on these boards, so I did not get the opportunity to know Dawn. She sounds like an amazing woman. My heart is heavy with sadness - no one should have to endure this awful disease.

My heart is heavy at the passing of Dawn (Inmate). What a wonderful brave lady she was. Never gave up but always had time for our moans, grumbles, worries and woes. Yes Linda another star in Heaven always looking over us like she always did on earth. It was such a pleasure to know her. My heartfelt love to her husband and family who will be grateful that she is now at peace and in no more pain. Rest in Peace dear Dawn. In my heart always. xxxx

Thanks Kathyrnn....I have confidence in my MO but I also like to gett my own info. This has just been a frustrating journey for me. I had a lumpectomy, my lump came back. I started chemo, had to stop and get a mastectomy. I was relieved after the mastectomy. Now the pathology of the mastectomy comes back and I find out that in addition to being TN its choriocarcinomatous. What next??

Dearest Dawn... strong-willed, resilient... she rocked us with her humour, sparkled with energy. What a loss. I will miss her.

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share this with you!
I'm taking a certification class, and the president of the company is the one holding the class. I know of him through another organization that I belong to, and I've known that his wife was a BC Survivor, but I didn't know much about her or her bc until I took this class. I had also known that it was an aggressive type of bc, so I had wondered if it was TNBC. I finally got the chance to ask about her and find out more!
She is a 10-year Survivor of TNBC! She was dx'd in 2003 with 11/13 nodes positive, and her tumor had grown from 1.5 cm to 7 cm in the initial 3 weeks that they were going through appointments. She was stage 3. She had a UMX first, followed by chemo and radiation.
She is healthy and living a full life!
She read a book called "The China Study" (I just downloaded the 30 minute short version), which influenced her to where she changed her diet dramatically, she also incorporated exercising, juicing, and now she does yoga and meditation, but I don't believe she did yoga and meditation right away. She also employed several other things, such as refusing to let fear control her and really developing a fearless consitution. She tackled it from every angle it seems!
I also saw on TV the other day, that if you want the benefits of juicing, but don't have a juicer, or feel it's too time-consuming, that you can do it another way. You can blend the ingredients, and then use a small strainer to pour the liquid into your glass. You will have juice, without the pulp, just like juicing. I've gone out and bought my strainer, and now will be looking for some great recipes.
By the way, if you don't have Kindle, guess what? You can download (for free) the kindle reader for your computer, and then buy the books for Kindle and it places it right on your computer. I don't know how I discovered that, but it's awesome, and I'm a maniac now buying all these $1.99 to $3.99 download. I think actually if you go through Amazon, they have it set up to where you can press a button next to the ebook, to download the Kindle to PC program, instead of having to go out to the internet to look for it. I'm thinking now that this is what I had done!
With our diagnosis, we all have hope and at times fear. I'm hoping this positive story to refer to will uplift you all!
Hugs,

Ugh! But I did it ... and came right in to tell you ladies, and so far it is staying down! )
I put raw carrots in the blender. About 10 of those baby ones, and enough water to cover the blades, and threw in a piece of ginger. By the way, nobody told me ginger was a spice! I thought it was something else. *more surprises*. Then I placed the handheld strainer over my glass and poured the blended carrots into the glass, through the strainer. When done, I took a spoon and mashed the remaining pulp that was in the strainer to get out any more juice. Then I decided, no pain no gain and downed it without stopping. Okay! Now that it's over with, I can make a few recommendations:
1) Have a bite of something nearby, if you need to change the taste of it right after drinking. I didn't, I faithfully came right in here to update you ladies on how the strainer works.
2) Do this when you are kind of hungry, so that way you are readily looking forward to it.
3) Loved how it was so much quicker and easier, than waiting for carrots to steam and eating them, or the time it takes to chomp on a raw carrot.
4) I think you can sprinkle some cinnamon and a squirt of lemon juice to make it a bit more pallitable. But in a pinch, the carrot with a piece of ginger was tasty enough to get it down. The ginger unpowers the carrot flavor a bit.
I'm so happy with this new strainer technique, I highly encourage anyone who thinks that juicing is expensive and time-consuming to try the blender with strainer method!
I'll let you all know if I make any good veggie shots out of it. I might work my way up to a raw green one today. We'll wait first and make sure I don't have any undesirable effects from today's experiment!

Update: It has been a rough past month for me with all kinds of crap popping up here and there. Just when I thought it was all coming to a close after radiation. We are not sure if it is chemo related or not but they did find that I was having some A-fib beats and some V-Tach beats. Both of these can be VERY DANGEROUS and you don't always feel them.........HMMMMM try to stay calm they say. ... I am on medication but I am so sensitive to stuff we have had to lower it and may have to change it all together, but trying to wait until after radiation due to side-effects. I will be starting radiation later this month. Please pray for me because I am not sure I can make myself go everyday with this agoraphobia and now the crazy heart thing to add. I keep telling myself that Satan knows that this is my best thing and he is going to stop me one way or another. Please pray because I am just about to give up but yet hanging on. I do fear death and people keep telling me if I died I would not suffer anymore.......not really comforting to someone who fears it.I am so sorry to read about Dawn.........:(. Not that this matters in a whole, but does anyone know how old she was? Just curious.Una2008 I am sorry to read about your diagnoses and I hope you find the strength you need to go forward with a double whamy as well. Welcome to the groupDebra THANK YOU for posting that about the 10 yr survivor. I so needed to hear that with all that is going on...............Sucks.Juicing........I tried it a few times and one thing I can offer is please be careful as it will raise your blood sugar to fast (some people) I did a juice with beets, carrots, lemon and something else........I don't remember but I did like most and I drank it real fast and paid for it the rest of the evening and I had even made a second batch to try later and I threw it away that is how bad it made me feel. Just please be careful.I have not felt well so I am sure I have missed a bunch of stuff so forgive me if you posted something I did not respond too.0

FYI on Ginger: I learned the hard way. It is not good for people who have gallstones or gallbladder issues.

I'm praying for you stupidboob.
Debra, thank you for that encouraging post. I bought a juicer before chemo but don't plan on using it until done w/ rads.
My last chemo is next Thursday. It's so hard to process everything that has happened in the last 5 months.0 -
group hug with stupidboob in the middle of us all. I am sorry that you are having such a rough time right now. People make such insensitive comments to be sure. I think Dawn was around 46 or so. Too young indeed. We all fear the what if. Sometimes it consumes me too. My regular MO check up is coming and I amm mentally a wreck about it. I am approaching 2 yrs next month.
Hang tough and be strong my warrior sisters
Maggie
