(((OMAZ)))) - I sorta got the idea you weren't doing so hot (but you wouldn't really say so). The exhaustion I can totally get but you can be proactive about the neuropathy. Try taking Glutamine. In the chemo threads as well as the natural thread, they swear it helps. Serach on neuropathy and chemo and see what you can find. (((HUGS))) girl. Have you been icing? I will pray for you.

Hot flashes totally suck. I went through meno 7 years ago but...HELLO hot flashes.

Thanks Barbara - I have been icing and using glutamine.  I didn't use the glutamine the first treatment and it has helped with the burning/tingling feelings to make them much better not with  the numbness. I also do omega-3 and B6 for the nerves.   I think all those things help but I must just be suseptible.  Thank you for praying for me.

BarbaraA, How did your onc app't go?

Sweets, Were you able to get into your BS today. Hope everything was OK.

(((hugs)))  to everyone. It was a long week-end and it seems BC doesn't make it any easier as we all know. Sometimes it's hard to work on the mental attitude when the body isn't feeling so great.

Yes Ma'am, it's me. It's the ACS Making Strides for BC walk in Lakeland. I have more pics on my facebook page (Shelley Beabout Jones). It's my only pink adventure. A friend of mine who is a nursing instructor invited me to walk with her nursing students. They checked out my scar and my port, etc. It was fun.

BTW, I just finished rads today. Yeah.

Shelleyj - I do not go to Duke, but my doctors all communicate with the doctors at Duke.  I go to the Cancer Centers of North Carolina and I am very please with my doctors and my treatment. It has taken me a while to get used to my new normal and it is really different from my old normal.

Please pray for me as I just learned my Mom passed away this morning.  I will be traveling  to Texas this week.  I had to change a lot of appointments for this week, but everything should be back on track by Monday.

AmyJo, I'm so sorry.... Its been almost 5 years for me since I lost my mom, and I HATE that I have to go through this without her.

Samsue, The lump actually seemed a little smaller today, so I wasnt as panicked. lol.  I'll see him for surgery on Thursday so Im just gonna wait it out.:)

And to those of you on Chemo treatments, wow, I can only imagine how you guys must be feeling. I'll be on that road as soon as I get some clean margins.  Be strong. HA! Be strong..... my bf tells me to be strong, that we will beat this, but really..... what the hell is that? How do you "Be Strong" when you feel so bad? I guess I'll have to figure that one out on my own. I feel bad enough after a lumpectomy on the 12th, swollen and sore....I  was watching dancing with the stars tonight and wondered if I would ever be able to bounce around like that again without pain. I have to hold my boob to walk to the kitchen!

Ugh, I guess I ended up needing to vent a little. Hope everyone is well.

Sweet.  I had tremendous swelling after my surgery.  Arnica gel (not on incision lines) and arnica pills helped immensely and quickly to relieve the swelling.   Available at health food stores.  Used them before for bruising after an auto accident and, desperate for relief, tried them post-op in April.

Good luck and God bless us all.

Amyjo - I am sorry to hear about your mother, I will be thinking of you this week.

I had my 3rd chemo today so I am at the halfway point then onto rads.  I have had some neuropathy since the 2nd chemo treatment.  The nausea comes and goes, I just medicate with anti-nausea meds and work thru it.

Ladies there are some supplements you should avoid during chemo and Omega-3 is one of them.  You can find the supplement list for OTC meds to avoid while on chemo at the National Cancer site for patients and physicians. I was taking fermented wheat products with the first chemo and had a massive reaction that increase the chemo effect which cause a hospital stay for me.  Stopped the fermented wheat germ and no more problems.  Just check with the chemo nurses at the infusion centers they will also have the "do not use" supplements.

    Peace and laughter,

    Cheryl

Shelley -  Hope I follow in your tracks.  Poor Tek,  hope they are on top of her pain this time.  We are so individual with our reaction to our treatments.  Have not had any mouth sores but still have the lip sore and still waiting for the oral onco visit.  Good luck to all the girls with their onco visits and procedures and chemos.  Hugs to all.  Special hugs to AmyJo - so sorry you have to deal with a loss of a parent now.

CherylIQ - I asked the onc nurse about possible supplements and the onc nutritionist and they ok'd the glututamine and omega3.  It seems like there is a lot of variability in supplement 'approvals' so I asked if they were ok with those. How is your neuropathy?

    Hey Cathy,

Where are you in your chemo? Are you doing alright? We need to check in on Rachel and LadyinBama, they are FEC+T girls, too. Here's a shout out to them! Check in and let us know how you are doing. Don't let it get you down!!!

FEC+T could stand for Failed Emend & Compazine + Truck or

    Fighting Extreme Cancer + Toxic

Hmmm I could go on and on....could be fun....

Thanks GrannyDukes, it feels good to be "done". Hugs back at ya!

Thanks Granny for the hug.(((Hugs))) to all of you.

Today I used ice, my BS had said no ice and no heat, but I see here almost everyone has used ice, so I did. He had said that right now, my breast is filled with fluid, and eventually will fill in with breast tissue. (I had no drains) Maybe the ice would harden the fluid in there? IDK, But Im uncomfortable, and going back in Thursday  anyway, Im sure a little ice wont hurt.

    (((AMYJO)) My condolences.

Not much going on with me. Home from my second hospital stay, they still aren't sure what's causing the fever/infection, but new meds appear to be working. My taxotere is put off for a couple of weeks. I want to get it over with!!

LadyinBama - sorry to hear you are having a rough time.  Hope they get things under control soon so you can move forward.

Of all you ladies who have finished chemo and gone through chemo pause have any of you gotten your periods back.  I had a little spotting a week ago and my onc's office said that is normal and that sometimes they can come back well, this week, full blown period.  I was really looking forward to not having these any more and now I have to go through the hot flashes again at some point in life.  It seems like we can never catch a break.  Just wondering if I am alone with this one or if others have had this happen after completing chemo and also if radiation will stop it again?  Hugs to all of you and best wishes.  Hope you are all doing well this week.

Amyjo, so sorry to hear about your Mom, My prayers are with you and your family. Sometimes the road just seems to stay bumpy.... waiting for things to level off a bit. Hope it comes soon for you.

Sweets, I had to hold my boob too when I walked and it felt like sloshing. My BS said ice was ok just not to keep it on to long. 15 min at the most and definitely no heat.
