Two areas of interest were located in my right breast...both not yet 1cm in size... the recommendation of the radiologist is to do another ultrasound and a mammogram 6 months from now.
I'm not super happy with the wait and see, I told my GP who shared the report results with me that I wanted to see my surgeon from my previous breast cancer surgery as he was EXCELLENT...but the doc said I couldn't...when I asked why, he said he had retired. I'm pretty disappointed as I somehow thought that if I ever needed surgery again he would be my surgeon. I have a scheduled appointment with a doc from the cancer clinic on the 22nd as part of my high risk survellance, so I'll ask him/her what they think. I would sooner have anything suspicious removed even though the report says "probably benign"...this is what the report said for my first BC...but my surgeon said..."if you were my wife, I'd want it removed", so he did,...sure enough, it was cancer. I'll post if the cancer doc says anything interesting.0 -
Oh Isee, I am sorry the ultrasound was not entirely reassuring. Such findings are common but after a first cancer diagnosis we really do not need the uncertainty! And it's hard to lose a good doctor. The good thing in all this is that you're going to see another specialist soon, who will hopefully put your mind at rest! Keep us updated, and I'll be thinking of you.

Hi Everyone!
I was on here looking up info on Lobular BC (Invasive, I believe) for a friend and I decided to come to the Tubular subtopic. I think we are the lucky ones!
It has been awhile since I have been on here but thought I'd give you an update on my Tubular Carcinoma history. First of all, I am about 4.5 years cancer free! I had my most recent mammo (3D) in February and all was great. They did take a little longer to discuss with me and called me in for some extra pics, but they determined that they were looking at scar tissue and there was nothing of concern. As we all know, those hours waiting, dressed in your little smock seem like an eternity. This last time, as I waited, I had myself mentally prepped for bad news and I was already thinking about the breast surgeon I would use (the same one as last time), etc. I think we all can relate to the anxiety of that day, as well as the days leading up to it.
I had my bone density scan the same day. She said there is a little bit of bone loss but my numbers are still excellent for a 65 year old woman, regardless of BC history.I am taking letrozole which really has not been a problem. I do get some night sweats (even in the day) sometimes, but it's manageable. My
MO said I will probably be able to stop the letrozole next Spring, at my 5 year mark.
As far as my lifestyle, I have made a few changes. I try to exercise regularly. I select no hormones added and organic products where I can. I take Turmeric daily and I drink green(iced) tea daily.
I must admit, I still enjoy my wine, but I try to be moderate on that front.

I was diagnosed with IDC of no special type with tubular pattern growth that went into 20 out of 21 lymph nodes. I dont know the percentage of tubular but it's obviously mixed type.With good prognosis of tubular I'm wondering why it went into so many lymph nodes and what's my prognosis because I guess my tubular is aggressive

Update...I had an MRI a few days ago even though I'm allergic to the gadolinium...I took a benadryl prior to the scan and it seemed to stop any reaction. I was phoned the very next morning to get into see my GP to review the results. Normally I would have to wait a week or so for results. So I knew right away that something was up...
During the scan it was noted that there were 3 spiculated nodules the largest being 7mm in size and the two others were 5mm each. There were two enlarged lymph nodes in my right underarm as well. One of the lymph nodes was 2.3 cm in length with eccentric cortical thickening (I gather that is not good). I'm not sure if 2.3cm is very large or not...anyone know?
They have now scheduled me for a breast ultrasound and possible biopsy on December 30th. I wish they would move a bit faster...we have been looking at this now since Sept. and after spending a month in hospice last March watching my poor sister die of a bone metastasis, sorry for mentioning this yet again...I have no intention of going there! Whatever this is, I want it dealt with sooner than later!

Isee, I'm so sorry that you have to go through this, including the added anxiety at having to wait 2 more weeks. All my thoughts and wishes are with you, for a good outcome. Hopefully you have some nice plans for the Christmas period to keep you busy and distracted as much as possible? Lots of virtual hugs , and let us know when you have updates

Oh, Isee, I'm so sorry. What rotten luck. Hopefully the results will be reassuring but if not, throw the book at the damn thing, like you said you would. Of course you are thinking of your sister but you are not her and, even if the wretched thing is back, treatments are continually improving. Agitate, complain and be as difficult as you need to be to get prompt attention. Keep us all in the loop...we will be thinking of you.

Thanks Mountainlover and Grainne! I'll keep you posted. I hope you are both doing well! Christmas will be quiet here. We have an order from our Provincial government to only socialize with the people who live in our house. So that means the we will not be able to spend Christmas with our family unfortunately. Hopefully next year this will just be a bad memory!

Thank you Isee for your kind wishes! It will be a quiet Christmas for us, too, but we are grateful as we could travel to our place in our home country. Lots of precautions, a covid test, masks and gels all the time. Still, we could see our closest family (although at a distance) and our hills. Now we can rest for a while. And we'll try to make these days special with take aways from some good restaurants in the area (only take away allowed). All the best and yes, keep us posted!

Thanks for thinking of me Grainne. I had the ultrasound and the radiologist did biopsy 2 areas that he said looked very suspicious...but also very small. He thought that if they were malignant that they were small enough that he would not think that it would have spread the the lymph nodes. He told me to call my GP today and have him make me an appointment with a surgeon...not to wait for the results. So I spoke to my doctor but he said he is not allowed to make an appointment with the surgeon without the pathology report. The radiologist put in 2 wire markers at the spots he biopsied so they can be found easily....I suspect he is going recommend a surgical biopsy on his report which is why he said to call the surgeon now. So now I'm waiting for results again...apparently it will be about 10 days.

Isee I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope it's a false alarm. At any rate, the fact that the suspicious areas are so small is very good. Please keep us posted and best wishes to all for a good 2021. I can't wait for this awful 2020 to finish!

Howdy all, I hope the new year is treating everyone well so far.
I got the histopathology report today from the biopsy on Dec. 30th. I thought I had them the other day when my GP told me the report did not mention cancer, but that he would refer me to a surgeon (should have done that on Dec. 30th). The new report says one of the biopsy specimens (they biopsied 2 nodules) contains a low grade DCIS. That was a bit surprising to me, but I know it could have been much worse. So now I'm waiting to see a surgeon. Hopefully they don't dawdle. Terrible time to have to be dealing with this...Almost 10 years to the day since my first breast cancer diagnosis on the other side. I'm sure this is a result of my BRCA2 mutation.

Hi, Isee. I know it's a blow but I can't help being relieved. If it had to be something, then a small amount of dcis is manageable. Scoop it out asap and have done with it. How are you feeling?

Hi Grainne, I'm totally fine, thanks for asking. Rather not be dealing with any of this, but it's pretty minor considering other possible scenarios. We are heading off to our cabin on the ocean today for 4 or 5 days, looking forward to the break from the usual. It's only 2 hours by car away.

Isee I am sorry the outcome was not benign but I'm glad that it's "minor" at least in the cancer world. I hope things move fast now.

Thanks Mountainlover, the cabin was awesome...some big wave action that is always exciting. We are back home now and I'm just waiting on my appointment with the surgeon on Feb. 9th. I just want this all over and done with. Not happy about having to be around doctors or hospitals during this time of covid. Numbers are not too bad where I live, so I'm hoping that is not also thrown into this mix. Other that that, all good here!

Howdy grainne and all, I hope you are all doing well!
Had the appointment with the surgeon on Tuesday the 9th as scheduled. He said he thought the two spots at 3ish o'clock should be removed due to the papillary lesion mentioned on the pathology report from the needle biopsy on Dec. 30th. He said his plan is to do an ultrasound guided fine wire excision/biopsy. The other lesion at 9/10 o'clock he said is a lymph node and he is not concerned about it. In the MRI report from Dec. 9th it mentions two enlarged lymph nodes in the right axilla "that should be examined"...I asked him if he was going to look at the lymph nodes under my arm that were mentioned in the MRI report and he didn't really respond...he started talking about the 9/10 o'clock lymph node. I was pretty nervous so I didn't push it, in hind site, I should have. I certainly don't want any surprises in the future! I think it is very interesting that I might have another "rare" cancer type, papillary...sounds even more rare than tubular!
When I left the receptionist gave me a package of info about preparing for the surgery and said it would be within a month. The next morning I got a phone call from her, they have scheduled the surgery for next Wednesday, Feb. 17th. YEAH!!! Super happy to be getting this done sooner than later. I'm sure it will be a few weeks after that before I get a more detailed pathology and find out if I will require any further treatment. I'll keep you posted...and thanks for your concern!!!
