Down 1.5. First week on Tamoxifen.

Down one. I am trying to do the 10 Day Sugar Challenge....where you don't add any extra sugar to your food. It has made me think before I add sugar (I still had to put just a sprinkle on my grapefruit.....and just a sprinkle of brown sugar on my oatmeal....but made me reduce the amount & pick healthier foods to start out with).

Ruth, Try cinnamon on oatmeal. It makes it taste sweeter.

Up 1 to 132.5. I feel like a sausage and have onc appt tomorrow where they will weigh me. Ugh.

Down 2.2.
Ruth, I put cranberries and/or blueberries in my oatmeal which makes it sweet and so good. I also always sprinkle cinnamon on it as cinnamon is supposed to be good nutrition.

One of the supplements my dermatologist has me taking for thinning hair is cinnamon.

I have cinnamon on my coffee everyday, too. I tried the no sugar added challenge but gave it up yesterday at Day 4. I had a flan for dessert and I just ate a lemon tart with dark chocolate for breakfast today.
Forgot to weigh in yesterday as it was scan day and my mind was not on my weight. Now I can justify eating the sweets, it was because my scans were clear! Anyway, am up 100 grams from last week. Will try to get back on the no sugar added wagon.

Heidihill, congrats on the clear scans! And life is too short for no sugar... moderation is the key. Your tart for breakfast sounds delicious by the way!

Congratulations, Heidi! Definitely news that calls for sugar....besides lemon is a fruit & dark chocolate is a health food. I eat 2/3 ounces of dark chocolate every day for 'medicinal purposes'

I like your outlook ruthbru! I too eat a small amount of dark chocolate daily -- doctor's orders (dermatologist). I see him for thinning hair. Besides prescriptions, he has me taking several supplements and the delicious dark chocolate!

Here's the scoop....remember the to be considered 'dark' the chocolate has to be at least 70% cocoa. The darker the better.
1) Dark Chocolate is Good for Your HeartStudies show that eating a small amount of dark chocolate two or three times each week can help lower your blood pressure. Dark chocolate improves blood flow and may help prevent the formation of blood clots. Eating dark chocolate may also prevent arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).
2) Dark Chocolate is Good for Your BrainDark chocolate increases blood flow to the brain as well as to the heart, so it can help improve cognitive function. Dark chocolate also helps reduce your risk of stroke.
Dark chocolate also contains several chemical compounds that have a positive effect on your mood and cognitive health. Chocolate contains phenylethylamine (PEA), the same chemical your brain creates when you feel like you're falling in love. PEA encourages your brain to release endorphins, so eating dark chocolate will make you feel happier.
Dark chocolate also contains caffeine, a mild stimulant. However, dark chocolate contains much less caffeine than coffee. A 1.5 ounce bar of dark chocolate contains 27 mg of caffeine, compared to the 200 mg found in an eight ounce cup of coffee.
3) Dark Chocolate Helps Control Blood SugarDark chocolate helps keep your blood vessels healthy and your circulation unimpaired to protect against type 2 diabetes. The flavonoids in dark chocolate also help reduce insulin resistance by helping your cells to function normally and regain the ability to use your body's insulin efficiently. Dark chocolate also has a low glycemic index, meaning it won't cause huge spikes in blood sugar levels.
4) Dark Chocolate is Full of AntioxidantsDark chocolate is loaded with antioxidants. Antioxidants help free your body of free radicals, which cause oxidative damage to cells. Free radicals are implicated in the aging process and may be a cause of cancer, so eating antioxidant rich foods like dark chocolate can protect you from many types of cancer and slow the signs of aging.
5) Dark Chocolate Contains TheobromineDark chocolate contains theobromine, which has been shown to harden tooth enamel. That means that dark chocolate, unlike most other sweets, lowers your risk of getting cavities if you practice proper dental hygiene.
Theobromine is also a mild stimulant, though not as strong as caffeine. It can, however, help to suppress coughs.
6) Dark Chocolate is High in Vitamins and MineralsDark chocolate contains a number of vitamins and minerals that can support your health. Dark chocolate contains some of the following vitamins and minerals in high concentrations:
Potassium
Copper
Magnesium
Iron
The copper and potassium in dark chocolate help prevent against stroke and cardiovascular ailments. The iron in chocolate protects against iron deficiency anemia, and the magnesium in chocolate helps prevent type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease.

Congratulations to losers and YAY for good scan results. I'm up but haven't given up. I will work on more activity, which means going to the gym. Some foot inflammation in my left foot has cut down on normal walking but I can work up a sweat on the elliptical without my foot hurting. Not so with the treadmill. Also do some strength exercises on machines at the gym.
Will have to remember to add cinnamon to the oatmeal. I add a small amt. of Splenda brown sugar blend, 1 tsp of butter (for some fat), about 3 toasted walnut halves broken into small pieces and a little splash of fat free half & half. Sometimes the full fat half & half. I digest food so fast that I find it necessary to have some fat in meals especially meals with carbs. I have switched from Old-fashioned oatmeal to steel cut and find it tastes better.
Usually have a Ghiriardelli chocolate square for dessert after dinner at night. Love the dark chocolate with caramel. DH likes the dark chocolate and mint.
