Still hovering 180.2 - 183 - can seem to get below but at least I'm not going over.  Eating is still bad; something has to give before long (hope it's not my belt!)

Thanks for the tip Natsfan! I checked out the site and am going to try it. I've been using an old excel doc I made years ago designed around the Weight Watcher program. I'm use to the point system, but maybe it's time to get out of my box. (I think this is the same program my son's gf was raving about last weekend). A big bonus is going to be the phone app . . . no more excuses for not keeping track when I'm out and about. I also like that it tracks fats, carbs and proteins. I keep an eye on those things too, especially when I'm training for something. Nothing's on my calendar yet, but you never know. Kudos to you for taking off those 2 lbs and taking on a 5K this weekend! (for a great cause, too).

Patoo: I consider "hovering" a win :-) Besides you've had a lot to celebrate lately! Congrats on the promotion!! I'm sure it was well deserved and my guess is that it was long overdue. Great job! But breakfast for 130!! Hopefully the honor will overwhelm the cost (and chore it must have been to put it all together). My husband's company had a similar tradition. Whomever got promoted had to buy beer for everyone after work. I always found that curious too. Thankfully, there were never more than about a dozen people to buy for.

I managed to lose two pounds; mostly because I have been too busy to eat!

Forgot to post about Mikey the Overweight Min Pin - he's down another .2 pounds, so it was a good week for both of us.  He's down to 11.6 pounds from the 15 he was when we got him.  He's looking good!

    Ruthbru: Way to go!

JFV: Good luck! I live by the food scale. I swear I could be a contender on (wo)Man vs. Food. I amaze myself at how much I can eat sometimes.

Natsfan: Awwww to Mikey :-) Also, I'm LOVIN' that program! Just used the bar scan feature . . . WOW!

It has been 3 weeks since I weighed myself (accidentally on purpose, as Patoo would say!).  I am up 1.6 pounds, but I feel that I am finally back on track!!  Using my Loseit.com again and actually got on my treadmill and ran for 5 of the 40 minutes that I was on it.  I never realy thought too much about all the muscles around our ankles and legs, but today, they are making me aware of them!!  Hoping to come back next week with a loss!!

Congrats to all the "losers"!  And a big "You Can Do It" to those who are struggling (like me!).

Up 1.3 this week - not sure why as I've been pretty good this week with both eating and exercising - even hiked 3 miles on Saturday and ran a 5K on Sunday!!  So I don't get it.  I'm dealing with a bit of a flare of my truncal LE, so I'm hoping at least some of it is pooled lymphatic fluid that should go away once I get the flare under control.  ARRGGHHH!! Yell

Some good news out of our household - Mikey is down to 11.2 this week.  He's really looking so much more like a min pin and less like a sausage on toothpicks!Tongue out

No loss since Sunday, last time I weighed myself.  I am struggling with the sweets.  I will stick to points for the next week and see if I get any loss by next wednesday.  I reset my WW weighin day to Wednesday.

Hi, I started a new diet on Monday using sparks people this time. I am really trying to record everything I put in my mouth! I have lost 1.5 in two days, water weight I am sure is most of it. Hope I can lose a pound a week but we will see, I am limited on the amount of exercise I can do.

i have a question.  i read in Breast Cancer for Dummies that it is not good to lose weight during chemo.  I asked my surgeon if that is because weight loss is bad in some way or because those who lose weight are sicker.  she had never heard of this.  then i asked my onco.  he never heard of it.Today i asked the associate of my endicrinologist and she thought not losing weight during chemo was good.  Then I asked the head endocrinoligist and he said losing weight is always good.

I weigh about 180 and i know that all of that fat produces estrogen.  Since i have an estrogen positive tumor it seems to me very important to lose the weight.  Ihave read again and again that weight is a terrible risk factor for breast cancer.  That is something that I did not know until it was too late.

As with everything else there seems to be so many differing opinions.  Does anyone know anything about this?  I am having a difficult time losing on chemo.  i think the average person gains 8 pounds while in treatment but i really need to get this weight off of me.

any ideas or information will be greatly appreciated!

Down 2.2 this week.  I am at a total of -3 for the last two weeks.  Hope I can keep it up with all of the goodies that seem to come one after the other this time of year.

Timbuktu, you have run into the "ask 6 doctors the same ? and you are likely to get 6 different answers", at least in this BC journey!  (or does that only apply to economists?)  I did not have chemo but it seems to me that your first job is to get through chemo.  I know movement is very important and may help keep any weight gain down.  Others may be along to give you better answers and you may want to pose your question on one of the chemo threads.

Weigh-in tomorrow - not looking forward to it.  Oh well.

Timbuktu - I did not have chemo, but have never heard of not losing weight during chemo.  I do know that my RO wanted me to stay at the same weight during RADS, as the positioning of the radiation beams are pretty precise and he did not want a big change in weight - which I assumed meant 'big changes in size'!

Most people GAIN weight during chemo, if you can maintain or even lose a few pounds, that would be good. You wouldn't want to loss a huge amount, I don't think.

Thanksfor the input guys.  I agree, ask 6 drs get 6 opinions.  what's up with that?

    It'snot confidence building!

I actually have gained a couple of pounds since starting chemo 10 days ago.

    I don't get it.

The struggle goes on!  Especially with halloween her in a couple of days.

i was also told that diabetic women get more cancer.

Insulin is a growth hormone and metformin might reduce cancer recurrence.

    a big study is underway.

I read that about metformin too.  I gained 10 pounds over the year of treatment.  I am trying to lose it.

Timbuktu - as Patoo says, your first job is to get through chemo.  I was above average and gained 20 pounds during chemo, but I've managed to lose 15 of it (still working on the other 7).  When I was up about 5 pound after the first couple of treatments I was really distressed, but then I just decided not to care. My recommendation would be to just do as much physical activity as you can - even if it's just dragging yourself down the block and back for a 10 minute walk every day - and not worry about any weight gain.  Get through chemo, then tackle any weight issues afterwards.

As I thought - up by about 2 lbs.  And so we go on...

Lost 2 of the 3 lbs I gained last week. I credit losit.com for getting me back on track. It's like a game balancing exercise and eating and I seem to be much more satisfied counting calories vs. points.

Timbuktu: My experience was similar to Natsfan and I second the recommendations to get through chemo first, you can deal with any weight issues later. I was able to exercise throughout my treatment and did the same things I did before (biking, hiking, swimming, running) but to a much lesser degree and intensity. I remember one day I was pleased that I walked a 30 minute mile. There was another time I was able to pull off a 30 mile bike ride (slow but sure). One day I realized the only thing I could still do with gusto was EAT!!! So I decided I was going to give myself that pleasure and decided not to worry about weight gain. It sounds like you're very aware and well informed, I have a good feeling that no matter what happens during chemo you will attack and conquer it soon afterwards!

Natsfan: So sorry to hear about your flare-up, I hope it's short-lived.  I'll bet you will see a significant reduction next week. BTW-Keep the Mikey reports coming, always makes me smile

Hi Cowgal: Glad you joined us! 3 lbs, 2 wks . . . thumbs up!

Fmakj:  Congrats on getting back on track! Only 1.6 lbs in 3 wks I'd say that's pretty darn good.

Omaz: No loss, means no gain . . . that's a good thing.

Ruthbru: You're excused :-) You did have a big weekend!

    Katsok: Way to go!

Patoo: Hey didn't you have a big weekend too? I'd say give yourself a break and power down this week! Forget about this week . . . look towards next week.

Ok 169 which means I am down a bit.  Quiche I meant to tell you on the other thread that I am impressed with the number of reps you do.  I only do 20 at 5 lbs.  So, your 50 sounds very very impressive to me !

Blech !  170 and my pants are getting really tight.  No more pretending it's water weight !
