Down a little over a pound. Had a good checkup so now can not use 'stress eating' as an excuse....lets all try to be moderate with our eating and see what happens! (and even if we are gaining and losing the same 10 pounds, it is better than just gaining and gaining and gaining!).

Kimberly1961 I hope it's not the case case. I keep thinking to myself if I just never really mourned my Dad or is it cause there is so much BS to think about and it is never ending these past 6 months or is it the reason I have gained weight. Then I try to logically tell myself that I cannot blame this on others it my big mouth that keeps opening for food......and now with foot problems lack of exercise too.....
Jenn- you crack me up.....I say eat as I would do anything to be 146 girlfriend.....in fact if it makes you feel better I will eat for you tonight too....I know it will make me feel better...lol

OK ladies.... I am in such bad shape weight and exercise wise I forgot today was even Wednesday and read all the posts wondering why you all weighed yourselves on Tuesday ? Talk about denial. I weighed myself over the weekend and was up to 170. I could be higher... I don't want to know.
Like ducky I am frustrated. But mostly with myself. I am not very overweight. But, I have probably enterd menopause and I know if I don't get things under control the weight will gallop on. I also know that if I did loose the 8 lbs I want to lose and keep off my knees and back would feel so much better.
Somehow I need to convince myself that exercise and diet are as satisfying as eating and sitting around.

I am doing wii fit downhill skiing and snowboarding with a lot a knee bending to work my thighs and butt - wow! Who would have thought it would work so well, I am sore!

I started a tai chi class today! I've always been fascinated by it and started in a free class at our Sr Center before Christmas, but it wasn't actually a teaching class, you just followed along the best you could. It was a good start, but after 3 wks I was still feeling so awkward I decided to get more serious. I found a class through the park and rec ($30 for 8 wks) and the teacher is wonderful!
Also, for the LE gals out there, I noticed many of the moves and breathing techniques are similar to what I do for my LE exercise and massage (she even had us rubbing our arms and legs). Nobody has ever mentioned the benefit to the lymph system, that's just my own observation, but I'm going to talk to her about it next week if I get the chance.

I exercise faithfully, but my eating habits are bad; so this week I resolve that I will actually eat the recommended 5 servings of fruits & veggies every day. (Hopefully that means I will be eating less of the other less healthy stuff.)

I'm eating lots of greens this week -- tossing loads of baby spinach leaves into soups and making kale salads and smoothies. Barely eating any carbs other than a little nest of quinoa pasta under my salmon tonight.
Now I just need to get off my lazy, sore, double-Faslodex'd derriere and walk off some calories.

Quiche - I've noticed the same thing about my Gentle Yoga classes - many of the moves are very similar to the Lebed moves. And a few months ago a local dahn yoga place had a free orientation - dahn yoga is big into energy flow, chi, and chakras - the more spiritual side of yoga practice. They had a little white statue of a human figure with lines on it showing what they said were the major energy paths in the body. Those "energy flow" lines followed almost the exact same paths as my LE therapist's diagrams showing the lymphatic flow through the body.
It made me wonder if one of the reasons that things like yoga and tai chi promote good health is that the ancient practitioners indirectly discovered lymphatic flow and the importance of keeping the lymphatic system healthy and moving, and developed exercises to do so.

"give up"................'its a lost cause................I will die a "an overweight person".............................at least I'll die happy , and with a full stomach.......................................

Hi, I'm new to this thread, but I always weigh myself on wednesdays. The past 2 Wednesdays have been 170.5. But more alarming to me is how round I am getting in the middle, wondering if it's the tammi. Because of where I've gained, even my "fat" pants are getting too tight.
So for the new year I started doing a boot camp routine from SparkPeople, 30 minutes of cardio/day, and then exercise videos, one each day for about 10 minutes focusing on different muscle groups. I also try to do classical stretch 4-5 mornings a week. Even with all this extra exercise, I still haven't lost any inches. It's just so frustrating. Trying to watch what I eat, but not religiously, need to improve there.

Ducky: Don't make me come out to Drexel Hill . . .
I'm so sorry. It sounds like you're in a dark place right now and virtual words aren't going to cut it. I'm worried about you and will keep you in my thoughts wishing for a spark to pull you out of this (dieting aside).
BTW: Where is Drexel Hill? I have family in Allentown/Bethlehem, one straggler in Slatington. Wondering if that's any where near you?

Ducky I agree with Lorraine we will come and get you and put a smile on your face. I am sorry you are feeling so down but it is apparent all the ladies count on you and enjoy your company and you are needed here, so please don't give up just kick back and relax a little and pamper yourself. This might be weather related. I bet once it starts getting warmer, you will feel like your old self. Hang in there.
Pat01 WOW!!!! I think that is awesome everything you are doing. I am jealous. I say it takes at least 6-7 weeks to notice a difference and when you do your clothes will literally be falling off you. Anytime I ever started any routine it would take close to 2 months and I dropped a size instantly......strange how it works, but it does.
So as some of you know I have been having foot problems which keep me from any kinds of weight bearing exercise and my BFF talked to a friend who is a PT and she said for me not to give up on exercise and continue through it. Not the 6 miles I was walking but more like 2-3 miles. I hate that one Doc will say something and then another Doc say something else and PT is different in opinions as well.....who am I supposed to listen to? This PT also said that Planter fasciitis is caused from stress and I got it shortly after my Dad died last July. Strange. I wonder how true that is.....anyway, I am frustrated as I can barely walk without a limp so should I try to walk again? Will it make it worse? HELP!!!

Ducky, I guess you'll shake off the fockits when you are ready. That remark about dying full and happy made me think of them cremating me along with a pepperoni pizza, with the works I hope. For now, going to make a big batch of some homemade Chai tea. It makes the house smell good.

Seriously, I hear the frustration in your voice that the scale isn't moving despite all your work. I have been there and back. Long before dx, I used to weigh over 200 pounds on a 5'2" body - size 20. I tried for years to lose weight, and never had any luck - I gained 5-10 pounds a year instead. Finally I stumbled on a magazine article that introduced me to the concept of the "healthy overweight" person. The article said doctors focus too much on what the scale says, and don't acknowledge that someone can be overweight but still healthy if they control other risk factors.
It was an epiphany! Right then and there I decided to change my whole approach. I pretty much put the scale away and started concentrating on being healthy. I could barely walk a block, so I started walking daily. For just 10 minutes, but I was out there rain, snow, sun, sleet, etc. I also started diet modifications - not all at once, but small things - like eating a small salad nightly before dinner. I found myself gradually increasing the exercise time and making more healthy eating choices. Nothing drastic, but the weight gradually started coming off, till I'd lost 60 pounds in about 5 years. Yes, after a few years I did bring the scale back out and now I use it to monitor- but I started with hiding the scale and concentrating on being healthy rather than a number on the scale. Maybe you can put your scale away for a while and just concentrate on making small healthy changes - like going to the gym with your daughter. Just a thought. . .
June - the plantar faciitis sound SO frustrating. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but do you have access to an indoor pool at a local rec center or YMCA? I work for our rec department, and deep water running is very popular with people who are rehabbing an injury or have other issues. We offer classes in it, and we also have times when we open the deep end for drop in deep water running time. Also, maybe your docs can give you a scrip to a PT who specializes in treating foot issues.

I think I need to join to be accountable here. I was 145 yesterday with 15 to go. My exercise has been walking, but I had surgery Jan 14 and am still really sore. We've had 2 days of snow and are under an ice storm warning now, so perhaps not good to walk and fall down. June, my plantar fascitis did not improve until I got completely off my foot for a while. I slept with a brace that kept my foot at a right angle. Maybe bicycling would be possible? The water walking sounds good also.

Mary and Wren44, thank you for the advice. I was trying to muster through the pain to walk at least 2 miles and it was so painful that I stopped all together and it has been I think 3 weeks since I have walked. I have the boot that I wear at night and I did 2 shots of the cortisone and I am in PT 2x a week and very diligent on doing the trigger point therapy kit which they gave me. So now I think I will wait it out another month and continue doing what I am doing and take it from there....

Omaz - Deep water running is "running" in the deep end of the pool. You wear a bouyancy belt to keep you upright so you're only in the water from the waist down. Then, you just "run" through the water - the water provides resistance and you get an aerobic workout, but without the pounding on your joints and feet. We offer a lot of aquatic exercise classes and they're quite popular - including a Deep Water Bootcamp that's pretty vigorous from what I hear, and even an AquaZumba class - a zumba class done in the water to spare your joints.

There you go ladies.........................Deep water running..............but that belt you wear...........that Puppy better be heavy duty to hold up; this body.................I have a home down the shore, and an inground pool..................just too bad its winter time..............ok, solved that problem...........................hey maybe I could go down and "ice skate" on it..............nah, that w;ould put a "slash" in the "safety cover"......................Ok back to the drawing board.

I am going to try to get 30 minutes of excercise in DAILY from now on! I have watched a YouTube video made by a Dr. in Toronto that really encourages just a 1/2 hour of excercise daily.

Ducky - I know exactly how you feel.... but don't give up - just take a break from worrying about it. Eventually, you will be able to get back on track! I am just now feeling a little more like trying to lose weight again - was doing sooooo good this time last year, but my Dad was diagnosed with throat cancer in May and everything went downhill from there. He passed away in September, and I am only NOW feeling like I even want to "try" to put the effort in to lose the weight! Just try to follow the 23 1/2 program that I posted up above to get you through to the time you will want to try again! ((Hugs))
Also, I can't wait until Summer this year....... Hopefully I will again be running in my pool!! Missed that last Summer!
