Wednesday Weigh In
Comments

Just got back from a trip to Ohio to visit some older relatives - and they do not eat very healthy at all, gravy with everything, sweet treats, soda as the beverage of choice. Couple that with a lot of sitting around, and I was afraid to get on the scale yesterday morning! So I didn't, decided to be kind to myself and give me a little time to get back on track. I was able to button my pants this morning, so that's a good sign!

Down 1.5 this morning. I weighed with clothing last night to simulate what I would weigh at the doctor's and it didn't look nearly as good. Can clothing really weight 3 lb without shoes?
0 -
Wren - how do you think I decide what to wear for weigh-in at Optifast?
I weigh everything first! That's how I decided which shoes to wear, and why I take off my heavy beaded watchband and my pedometer before I step on the scale!!!!!!
When the scale measures down to the nearest ounce, you better believe I'm not going to wear anything heavy!!!!
Congrats on the 1.5 loss!!!!

Exactly the same weight this week as last. I ate more than usual, but I also ran my first 10K, so I guess it all balanced out.
I thought my doctor's office was generous when they knocked off 3 pounds for clothes in summer and 5 in winter, but I've compared with my scale at home, and that's actually pretty reasonable.

NatsFan, You are lucky, I don't think any of my Dr's give an allowance for clothes!
My third week here, and after a gain last week, I'm down 2.4 lb this week. It's about time the scale started moving in that direction. 173.6 lb

Up .5 today. I have only myself to blame. Grrrrr.

164, down a pound from 2 weeks ago which was the last time I weighed. Not too bad. But I chart my weight, and realize I've been stuck in the same area (164-165) for about 2 months now. We did have 2 vacations in there, and Easter, but I feel I need to shake things up a little. so I'm going to try a short stretch on South Beach diet and see if I can break through to the 150's.

I'm down 0.6 lbs from last week. I started on loseit.com this past week and put in that I want to lose 1/2 lb every week. So far, so good! It will take me until December of 2013 to reach my goal of losing 40 lbs but I know that I will do better losing slowly. It took me 25 years to gain this weight so I can give it some time to take it off! Using the loseit.com system helps me think about what and how much I'm eating and is motivating me to exercise more so I'm hoping I can keep it up!

LC-Barb, I know when I am faithfully logging in my intake and exercise, I can lose.... quite easily!! The problem with me is, that intaking is quite easy also!! Congrats on the loss!
Mary - I too did not budge up or down this week.... hope it is not a Wii board revolution!!
Pat01- with 2 vacations and Easter, I would be ecstatic with staying in the same range - still trying to recover from Easter alone!!! Congrats!
Gotta post on the excercise thread and log in at loseit.com to stay on track (I always feel that weigh in day is a 'free' day to eat whatever I want, but have had waaaaaay too many of those days recently! Back on the Wagon!

I hereby make a motion that this be a NO BLAME, NO SHAME Zone!!!!!
I think we all do the best we can under whatever circumstances we're in, and sometimes that means a nice loss, and sometimes that means a gain no matter how "good" we were!
It's finally sunk in....with weight loss, we are not "good" or "bad". If we make some decisions that perhaps weren't the best, well, we always have a chance to start over.
Wasn't it Scarlet who said "Tamahrah's anuthah day!" ?
Hey, I'm the one who GAINED two pounds after a week on a liquid fast!!!! Stuff happens.
It will all even out in the long run, as long as we keep making more healthy choices than unhealthy ones, and realize that our bodies aren't perfect machines.
Cortisol. I blame cortisol! The stress hormone.....adds pounds when you least expect it!!!

You're right Blessings! Sometimes there's just no sense to our weight gains and we do the best we can and move forward.

Didn't weigh myself today because I truely was BAD last night. Really.....I went to potluck had seconds on EVERYTHING!!

Missed this for a couple weeks so forced myself to come before I turn in in a few. Looks like I'm down .2 (yes, there's a point) and I'm with you Blessings, we do the best we can. Exercise and watching what we eat (no, ruthbru, don't watch as it passes through your lips), will keep us healthier if nothing else. That's my story... I like that, NO BLAME, NO SHAME.

Stuck to Optifast faithfully all week. Went to the gym, walked on the treadmill, did the machines. Rode my new trike around all our bike paths like a wild woman!
Was down 1.2 pounds at weigh-in tonight, and again, it wouldn't have mattered if I didn't lose an ounce.
Just being able to get out of bed (I was pretty much bedridden from November to January) and get moving again makes me feel so STRONG!
TAWANDA!!!!

Great job ihopeg! I also started my weightloss journey in January, but I'm losing at a much slower pace than you. As long as I'm losing! Congrats on a great job.

Pat01- Congrats to you too!! This is just the beginning for me, I have 50 more pounds to go!!
0 -
That is awesome ihopeg! I just started using loseit.com ten days ago and I've lost 1.2 pounds so far and have 41 pounds to go and I love reading about someone else being successful.
pat01...I think a slow pace sometimes helps you keep it off in the long run so that's what I'm going for too. I have loseit.com set at losing 1/2 pound a week and I lost a little extra the first week but I'm sure it will probably slow down. I figure it took me 25 years to gain this weight and it can take a while to lose it!

Hey, Ducky- just wanted to see how you were doing with the program??
Still struggling with eating issues.... Wednesday is coming up quickly!!

Hey Fmakj......................still doing good..............my Cardiologist was very impressed when I saw him today.................Its coming off, but still not fast enough for me...........the Femara is killing me....the fluid buildup is ridiculous........if I lost the fluid, I would have lost a small toddler........................thiniking Medifast, but its expensive, and a lot of soy, but I need to get this friggin weight off...............I guess I want a quicker fix, but honestly the hypnosis does work................God if I was young, I could have lost a hell of a lot more, but at my age....................it's gonna take time..................thanks for asking

congrats to all the losers!
Have lost 100 grams, but it's only Tuesday.

Hi, duckyb1!
I noticed you mentioned Medifast, and - aside from the expense - how you wouldn't want to take it because of the soy.
I've been on Optifast for 7 weeks (steadily lost 17 pounds on meal replacement, had lost 15 prior to that) and even though there is soy in both the shakes and in the protein bars, my MO is the one who recommended the program.
She said the amount of soy was not that great, and that I would not be on it for long (16 weeks). She told me the absolute best thing I could do for my overall health - AND my ER+ breast cancer - would be to drop this weight now. Only 40 more pounds to go!

Blessings, thanks for the info.........I really do want to do medicast...there is a new center in my[ sons complex (works in commercial real estate), but he says they are not doing well............but that doesn't matter to me either way..........I thought they would do great in this town, since all the Stepford Wives worry about how they look...........not me, I'm a 77 year old great grandmother......just doing it for my health.................

Today it's no change from when I left for our spring break. Before the summer gets here I will lose those 3 extra kilos...one of them this coming week. Grrrr.

Down just half a pound. Bad time of the year for me to loss weight. If I can just maintain through all the retirement parties, graduation partys, socials etc. I will be doing good.

Down .9 pounds - hooray! Only two more pounds to go to lose the last of my 22 chemo pounds! I have my 6 month MO appointment tomorrow - I think she's going to be pleased when I hop on the scale.
On the soy issue - as you know, the studies are all over the place about the risks/benefits of soy for ER+ gals. MOs are split on the issue. My MO isn't worried about it, and until the studies are more definitive one way or the other, I'm taking the same attitude. I don't go out of my way to avoid soy, nor do I go out of my way to eat it. However, studies are clear that exercising regularly and maintaining a normal weight reduce the risk of recurrence. In my mind, my efforts to exercise and get to a normal weight take priority because there's no question about the benefits of that. So if consuming a product with some soy would help get us to a normal weight faster, it seems that (according to the studies) we'd be better off losing the weight with the soy product rather than avoiding the soy with the result of keeping the weight on.
Ruth - if you've been hitting all those parties and still managed to lose half a pound, then you're doing well!

Down 1.2 lbs this week for a total of 1.8. Only 41 to go...hehe..
Yay Nats Fan! Awesome! I have my MO appointment tomorrow too.
Half a pound is good Ruth if you've been hitting parties. I'll be happy to lose 1/2 a pound a week for the next month...I have lots of parties to go to also. I'm telling myself that if I can lose only 1/2 a pound a week that in a year's time that is 26 pounds which would be wonderful! That would be my lowest weight in 15 years...
