Down half a pound since last week. Annie great news for you!

Going to dr appts today for follow ups, just routine. Getting on their scales will be a true eye opener.  I'm so bloated I can hardly get my big girl jeans on today

Rachel I think we have all been there. In fact I was comfort eating just the other day. And it is in our culture. See the lemon meringue tarts and cookies that arrived? The thing that keeps me on track most days is knowing its something I can do beyond the treatments. And if your doc is like mine it will become part of the treatment. It's no longer optional.

TwoHobbies, yes I agree. It is in our nature to have those cravings. I have only met with the medical oncologist one time, and only finished radiation two wks ago, so she said I could wait a while before starting the hormonal therapy (pill). Yes, I have read that we need to get as lean as possible.

I have been nursing a bad cold this week with all the aches and pains, and up until this morning, I was comfort eating like crazy. But, I remembered reading about how sugar and processed foods create inflammation in the body, and remembered how much better I felt when I was eating healthy, whole foods, so I am now inspired to do the right thing!

hi all and welcome to the new ladies!  Missed posting Weds but was down another few oz NAB.  Not where I want to be yet but headed in the right direction.  Sometimes it's hard to make good choices but it's also not good to beat yourself up.  Forgive but don't forget, and try to do better next time.  ♥

Question for those who do Weight Watchers: do they have vegetarian plans?

  • AnnieLane
    AnnieLane Member Posts: 757

Wren, you could definitely do vegetarian on WW. They are not that rigid and don't dictate what you can and can't eat. You just track your food, whatever you eat, according to the point values. All fruits and veggies cost you zero points, so they strongly encourage eating lots of those. I eat mostly vegetarian.

What does WW cost? I looked at their web site and it doesn't say. I know there's a joining fee and a weekly fee, but have no idea what the price range is. A fair number of frozen entrees tell you what the point count is.

I don't remember, because as a lifetime member, I can go free and use the website free as long as I weigh in once a month within 2 lbs of my goal weight. A monthly pass is usually the most economical way to go.

Down 400 grams. I am now within a kilo of my goal, thanks to WW. That's Wednesday Weigh-in!

Heidi, congrats! That's great and good inspiration. My weight is the same this week-172.4. I'm ok with that as it seems to be a pattern for me, stay the same-put on a bit-loose a pound. I appreciate this thread as it does keep me motivated. I find that my contributions to other threads is dwindling the further away I am from completing treatment, I guess I just want to put this behind me, but I find I'm always checking here-part of strengthening the new me!

Hi all, I just found this thread and think its great. I had lost 25 lbs on WW just before I was diagnosed. I am trying to keep it off, but it's a struggle especially since I am not very active right now. I am working on getting my endurance back but it is taking a long time. I am hoping that this thread will keep me on track knowing I have a weekly weigh in.

Since this is my first weigh in, and from what I understand we don't have to say our weight (which is good because I would probably lie and say its the same as my drivers license weight) So week one I am starting at 0.0 weight gain.

    Thanks for keeping me honest.

Mrtw43, you're right, you don't have to say how much you weigh, just the change from the previous week. Welcome!

    I am down 0.6 lb.

Wasn't all that good, but managed the scrap off .2

I'm down .5 from last week. This is good since during the week I weighed myself and I was up 1.5 but it came off before weigh-in. Watching Dr. Oz yesterday and I tried something he suggested, not to eat between 8 pm to 8 am. That's like 12 hours of not eating but mostly I'm sleeping during those hours so it isn't a problem. My stomach doesn't feel as bloated this morning. He said it helps our body reset itself.

Slv58 - Just wanted to comment that when my treatments were done I left the boards and tried to get my life to a new normal. I know what you are saying about not posting. It did help me tremendously to get off for a while.

No loss, but no gain...and since we had a wedding, a birthday dinner and a church party I'm calling it a win! Trying to reach my fitness/weight goal before surgery in October. It's going to really annoy me to be stuck in the recliner for a few weeks again!!!

I am down .5 this week which is great considering the weekend I had. I keep hoping my appetite will stabilize. Maybe this week it will.

Wren I don't do WW but I did see a sign on the WW storefront near me that it is free to join right now.

I see a lot of WWers here. What do the rest of you use? I did something called The Plan where you find foods that work for you. I lost 10 pounds that I couldnt lose for 16years this way. Just the last few days I've been rereading a couple of books about low carb eating and the possible implications to cancer so I have decided to continue with my good foods but try to restrict carbs to 72 g per day. Two days completed it hasn't been too hard but we shall see.

I don't do it faithfully (which i should) but I really like the book called "the Pink Ribbon Diet".  Its basically a Mediterrain type diet full of veggies and fruits, with olive oil written by a dietician doing a grant study for breast cancer women. Very healthy, tasty and easy recipies.  Today I'm going to use it to make some bannana bread from the book and it calls for tiny bit of olive oil, whole wheat, etc.

Down .5 to 130.5. I know I don't have to post the number, but I always look for last week's post to see what I weighed then. Bad case of CRS (can't remember stuff).

Ranger I had looked at buying the pink ribbon book and started doing a little search to see if there were any studies out there. What I found talked about Mediterranean being good but low carb even two days a week being better. You could always incorporate that into your plan if the book did not. If this link doesn't work go to the website and look for part time low carb diet and breast cancer.

    http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/238991.php

I also try to incorporate the Mediterranean diet into my low carb plan (the good fats, nuts and fruit and veggies)as we know it is good for heart disease for sure which really runs in my family.

I guess you can see I have been obsessing about diet.

TwoHobbies, I know I obsess too. I check out WW magazines and other healthy cooking magazines from the library to keep my motivation up.  I feel like I'm battling this chemo fatigue and menopause and its two steps forward and one back. I'm hoping this site will continue to help with my motivation and talking all of you helps me.  I've gone up 2 sizes since being on this latest drug however, I can't accept it. I want to be back in my smaller jeans. So I'm making small goals. I would be happy with 4 pounds a month, 5 would be super. How about you, what is your goal?

Weight the same as last week - 159. Guess I should be proud of myself for not gaining, since I spent 4 days in San Francisco this past week. Hope to be down next week.

Ranger at diagnosis I was within but at the top of my BMI. If I ate too much at holidays I would be one or two pounds over my BMI and my doc would scold! So my original goal was to get to the middle of the range which would be about ten more pounds. I would love to be at my pre pregnancy weight but I don't know if that is reasonable or not since for 16 years I was unable to lose it.

At this point I'm more obsessed with trying to kill or slow down cancer than the actual weight since losing 10 pounds didn't prevent my local recurrence. So I would say my goals are sort of merging into this illusion of losing weight and starving cancer LOL. I'm not naive to think I have the answer but searching and hoping it could help along with treatment. And it makes me think I'm doing something extra and keeps me out of trouble!

Down from last post 2 weeks ago.  Must be all the walking last week in Vegas and Grand Canyon.  I'll take it and hope it continues for badger's 10 lb Christmas challenge.

hi all and welcome mrtw.  I'm down 1.5 this week.  Literally working my butt off, it's SO busy right now.  Christmas challenge --> 7.5 to go!

TwoHobbies, that article really is interesting. In the past I've lost weight on low carb diets like Atkins and South Beach, but couldn't keep that up long term. These days I eat very little meat or dairy and get most of my protien from beans, nuts and legumes.  It's interesting to think that eating low carb just two days a week could make a difference.

Well, my first week here has not been a rousing success as my weight is up 1.5 pounds. This is within my normal range, but I'd prefer to go closer to the bottom of my range!

Anyway, I am trying to be accountable, so I am posting my non-loss. I hope to do better next week. I have been trying to get myself ready to exercise more, and did work out a bit both yesterday and today, so that is encouraging to me.

I hope everyone has a good week!

down .5 lbs to 161.5 - 8.5 lbs to go to meet the Christmas 10 pound challenge.  I do feel it is within my reach to do this - just trying to eat healthy food and not overindulge with portion size.  Need to get back to regular exercise - sort of just stopped doing everything while I was sick with bad cold for two weeks, luckily I wasn't very hungry either, so no gain.

Annie I had the same problem sticking to low carb. Lost weight on south beach once and slowly gained it back. Then couldn't stand to go back to it. So two days a week seems way more tolerable. But I'm also doing well with the 72 grams per day. So far...

Wren, I also "suffer" from CRS Undecided so to make it easier on myself for next week, I'll post that yesterday, Wed. Sept. 18, my weight was 123.7 lbs. Had a heck of a time yesterday finding my little spiral I record my weight in. When I get down to 122 I will have reached goal for the 10 lbs by Christmas challenge. I think it'll be harder to maintain it through the holidays than to reach it in the first place.
