Annie, good for you! I haven't joined the 10lb by Christmas because I'm pretty close to my goal weight. Originally, I thought 130; now I'm going to try for 125.

I have been holding steady, though exercising more since my more sedentary chemo, surgery and rads days. I feel better in my clothes and skin so I am going with the old "muscle weighs more than fat" adage.

But- still- six pounds to go before Christmas. I am keeping at it! I will ride my bike yardsaling tomorrow and Sunday. I am replacing the eating habit with a shopping habit (yes I post on the "retail therapy" site too!)

    Good luck to all!

No doubt, Ruth!! Isn't that the truth? But DH tells me to think that way NOW, so I don't look back to NOW in another 20 years and think it again! Lol.

    LOL Ruth!  So true!!

Yep, so true Ruth, and Dulcigirl, your DH sounds like a smart guy! I distinctly remember when I thought I was overweight at all of 118 lbs. Of course that was over 3 decades ago.

Down 1.1 lb from last week, weighed in at 122.6 lbs this morning.

    Up 400 grams.

Annie, you're pretty close to being 118 again! Wow!

LOL, Ruth. It's sad though that so many normal girls think they're fat. I just heard my 13 year old say she's fat the other day. She's not even 100 pounds.

Was very, very good, down 2 (no decimal point). Ilmost have my August vacation weight off. A week to put in on, a month to take it off!

Down Monday, but up today.  Can't seem to make any progress.  Weighed in at 137 this morning.  Need to drop 5 lbs before Christmas...

Down 2 to 159.5 - finally broke the 160 barrier!  Hopefully I can hold it below 160.  So I need 6.5 more pounds to make 10 by Christmas.  It is coming off so slowly, but it is coming off, for that I am grateful.  I can do this!

Heidi, at least I know now that 118 isn't overweight Smile

Yes, it is sad. My 15 year old granddaughter showed signs of anorexia last spring and my daughter & son-in-law didn't realize it for awhile because they were going through a medical crisis with her older sister. They took her to a counselor and nutritionist and kept a close eye on her until she got back to a healthy weight. She still sees the counselor and nutritionist periodically. She is a beautiful, multi-talented girl and has never been overweight. Our culture and media can have such a damaging influence on young girls.

Down 7.5lb since Labour Day!  So now I can no longer blame tamoxifen.  Good old fashioned calorie counting, walking and yoga.  Myfitness pal is a godsend for keeping me on track

Good job everyone. I lost 2.9 lbs which is much more fun to report than gaining 3 lbs like three weeks ago. So overall I'm down a couple of pounds since ending chemo and hope to keep on going.

Heidi It is a shame we cannot have girls grow up with an accurate view of healthy weight. I remember thinking I was fat in seventh grade at 105 lbs and started dieting. Ridiculous.

Morning Ladies. Lost 1 lb!! Now 171.4, so I have just over 4 to go for 10 by Christmas-I can do this. It amazes me how slow this process is and wonder if part of this may be due to chemopause. I started at 179.4 in July and hope to get down to 155, at this rate it will be a long time, but hopefully the adage slow to come off will stay off!
    Two hobbies-way to go!

Myleftboob, you are doing so great! Way to go! It's taken me 3 months to loose that much :-(

Pat01, congrats on breaking barrier! Must feel great to see new #s on scale!

GuyGirl, I also find I stay the same weight for a couple weeks, then ill loose a pound, very stubborn-fat loves my body!

Ruthbru, I know how you feel, I'm a little afraid of after Christmas! I have an awful feeling that I'm going to put on what will take me 5 months to take off.

AnnieLane, Congrats! You are inspiring-I can do this, I can do this-I MUST do this...

Good luck everyone and have a great week

Down a pound, yipee... I have to put my weight here otherwise I'll forget what it was by next week. 158.5.  If I start this Christmas goal from here, that means 9 more pounds to go.  I would love that to lose 9 more pounds, might even get me in my next size down for jeans and pants.

I've yo-yo'd around so much I have no clue where I am now...so from the most I've weighed since joining this thread I am down 5. 5 more to go to reach my weight at diagnosis and then another 10 to find my happy place. Lol.

Sad....but I remember going to the beach in elementary school and making my mom walk down to the water so she could catch my towel at the last minute so nobody would see my fat thighs. Which were not fat at all. :-(

I've been sitting at 159 lbs for weeks, but down to 158 now. Started out from 164 in the beginning of August, so progress is slow, but it's happening. Like Myleftboob, I can't blame Tamoxifen any more. Have now cut all sugar, and all white carbs, as well as starchy veggies. Also careful with sweet fruits like grapes, and eat only two fruit portions per day. Cardio almost every day, yoga 2 X and strength training 3 X a week. Oh well, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do - I have bought a very beautiful, figure-hugging long evening gown for DS's wedding on Nov. 30, so it's game on!

Pat01, congrats on breaking the 160 lb barrier! I struggled with that one myself for a considerable length of time.

Down to 158 - yayyyy! Been sitting at 159 for the longest time, but at least there's movement again in the right direction.

Pat01, congrats on breaking the 160 barrier! I struggled with that for a long time myself. For extra motivation I've bought myself a very beautiful, figure-hugging long evening gown for DS wedding on Nov. 30, so it's game on!

I am so grateful for this thread. The mere fact that I have to report here every Wednesday is really keeping me accountable, focused, and on track. Thanks to all you wonderful women!

Held steady at 130.5. Unfortunately, there's a birthday party next weekend - GS turns 21.

Thanks.  I was blaming Tamoxifen when really I went to town all summer. I was in total denial obviously LOL!  I'm at the weight I am from last June I think.  I'd be delighted to drop a pound a week

Well not great on my first week reporting I am up 0.5 lbs from last week but, it has really put a fire under me to get more active and eating better. I have been slipping up for the last week or so.

Down .2 from last week.  Now if I can just remember where I was when badger started the 'lose 10 by Christmas...' that would help.  Oh well, 184.6 today so if I break 180 by then I would consider the goal met!  Posting here weekly certainly helps with accountability.

Well, I've lost the 1.5 that I gained last week (my first week here).

Up .5 this week which puts me at 169, one pound less than when I started the Christmas challenge on July 24.  13 weeks and 9 pounds to goal.  Still below 170 so will be happy with that.  ♥

Have to agree about Tamoxifen. I've lost 6 lbs since beginning of August after 'struggling' with my weight for a long time, and blaming Tamoxifen for it - such a handy scapegoat when we don't want to take responsibiity - LOL! And all the time I was not really dedicated and committed, justified my 'diet', and did not exercise enough. Weight loss has been slow, but it is coming off. Just have to stay the course.

    Dulcigirl

I shared a FB post, too tired to even attempt to post it here right now.  Basically it said "I wish I was as fat as when I first ever thought I was fat".  Yeah, that would be me too when I was a around 19 and 40 pounds lighter!

    Lifie

Yep, meanwhile I have been on Tamoxifen since May 2012 and didn't gain until this summer.  I moved from a house to a very small apartment and likely not expending the same amount of calories.  No yard work and all that.  Ice cream and BBQ and lots of parties didn't help.  I did have a good time though LOL

I'm on Arimidex and stopped frequenting the Arimidex/Anastrozole threads, because it's just too easy to blame everything on it. Of course some people do have miserable side effects, but if I spend too much time on those boards I start to think I'm having them too. Otherwise, I feel pretty darn good.

Ok need to do a better job of tracking activity and calories.  I have heard about FITBIT and My fitness pal.  What should I use?

  • ruthbru
    ruthbru Member Posts: 47,665

I use www.loseit.com I like it because it's free and you can get calories back through exercise. I know other people who really like the fitness pal, but I have never checked it out myself.
