    Heidi,

I've been on Metformin for several years for PCOS/insulin resistance. I did not have TOO much trouble. But it is vital to eat right. If I have some heavy carbs (too much cake/cookies) I do pay for it with an upset stomach.

Hi everybody, I'm back from my travels in Africa, and enjoyed catching up on all the posts here. Seems everybody is still going in the right direction which is a huge accomplishment at this time of the year!

My sad news is that I've been very bad, have relinguished all control, and gained back 4 of the 14 ponds that I have lost since August. Did no exercise either. My clothes still fit, but is getting tighter as we speak - lol. So as of now I will get a grip on my eating, start exercising again, and repair the damage. Can't believe I did this, but it's no use blaming myself, and crying over spilt milk. I'm the only one who can make this right again.

Annie, I like your challenge. My first goal is to get back to 150 where I was when I left on Nov. 22. That will probably take about 3 to 4 weeks, so by end of January those lbs should hopefully be gone. After that I will set a new goal. Still want to lose about another 10 lbs, but don't know if I can do that by March 31. A more realistic goal for me would probably be 6 - 8 lbs.

No carbs, no sugar, lots of water, fresh veggies, fruit, eggs, fish and chicken. Oh yes, and one square of dark Lindt chocolate every evening - there has to be some reward . . . lol.

Nice to meet you liefie.  I think I've joined your loser group since you last posted.  Anyway..........it's ok to digress.  And then start afresh!!  Seems you already know that.  Here's a big ole hug to squish some of those lbs. out.  ((((liefie)))

Thanks, Marple! Happy to report that I was in the gym this morning for some strength training and cardio, and this afternoon took my dog for a long walk even though the temp. was frigid. Eating really well too, so something's gotta give - lol.

Confession time.  This morning my scale read 140.8.  I have been fighting plantar fasciitis and everytime I start to exercise again the next day the pain is back.  I can't seem to win.  My husband says I am too hard on myself.  How can I get motivated to lose weight when I can't even work out?  So frustrated.

Still stuck at my 7 pound loss. (One up from pre-Christmas.) But I'm going to hope it is partly due to muscle gain as I have been exercising a lot and clothes are fitting better.

Ellen, I don't suppose you have a gym membership, so you could use an elliptical trainer or stationary bike? I've had plantar fascitis before and I remember how painful it was.

Up .5 to 131.5. Blaming GS birthday cake.

Guygirl, Stick to laying on the floor type exercises. The more you can stay off your foot, but sooner it will heal. Been there.

    down 1.

When I had plantar fasciitis, my PA friend told me to wear (good, supported) shoes all the time, even in the house. I went to Walmart and stepped on the Dr. Scholl shoe inserts machine and bought the recommended inserts and wore them in the shoes (I still wear them). Ellipticals, bikes, rowing machines, toning exercises, abs etc. should all work for exercises. Other than making it hurt more, I couldn't find anything that said that walking would actually make it worse, so I still walked even though it did hurt.

Guygirl when I had foot trouble I also did the stationary bike.  I was young and broke so I actually got a stand for my outdoor bike and rode it in front of the TV, which is a cheaper short term solution if you have a bike.    I must be the only person with this problem but when I exercise its actually way more of a challenge to stay on the diet.  I do the exercise for health but not for the weight loss.

I noticed I was looking at the wrong Wednesday in my journal and I actually lost 2 lbs from last Wednesday but I was up that week.  So I'm down .4 from two weeks ago.  Somehow that makes me feel better in my screwy logic that I lost two pounds!  Next week will be the true test, if I can continue to go down.

Ruth I tried that Dr Scholl's machine out at the Walgreens the other day.   I have post chemo pain in my feet.  I feel fine in the morning but they hurt by night. Well it said my feet were balanced so then I was unsure whether to bother but I still wonder if the extra padding might help.  I happened to complain to the doctor that day and she gave me gabapentin which is helping a lot.  Plus I'm thinking this might be a good excuse to wear comfortable shoes to work instead of Dulcigirl heels.

Definitely need the comfortable, supported shoes. Sad I save my Dulci shoes for weddings and other fancy things where you mostly sit.

Dulci has not worn those shoes yet. Lol. I'm usually in Sketchers, flats or riding boots.

Those heels are going to be my "Celebration of the end of recon" shoes...hopefully this summer. But I will NOT be walking far! Would be kind of fun to wear them to my 30th highschool reunion, but I don't want to fall off of them and break a hip.

Hi ladies - long time not being accountable, and it shows.  I was at a wonderful recent low for me on November 20 of 157.5, and was so happy and proud.  But New Years day I got on the scale, and weighed 165.  Thanksgiving in New Orleans, holiday parties, my husband had knee surgery and I took 3 weeks off to care for him, lots of sitting around and eating and wearing yoga pants so my clothes didn't alert me, Christmas, new years eve - so here I am pretty heavy again, carefully selecting pants that still sort of fit.  Weighed in yesterday and I am down .5 lbs - a start in the right direction.  Need to start moving again, might try a new gym to see if that helps.  Weather hasn't helped for walking at lunch.  Will try to start checking in here regularly for support and accountability!

Dulci, don't forget ice skates. Pat, baby steps is my motto.

Down 100 grams from last week.

    Ha, Heidi.

Ironically it has been way too cold to skate!

I'm excited cuz I dropped my nasty pound already. Now to stay accountable and keep it off.

Pat, welcome back!! Every little bit counts and little bits eventually add up to big bits! Hope your husband's knee is healing well. It's been much too cold here for walksalso,  so I started going up and down my basement steps as many times as possible each day. I initially thought it was just better than nothing, but it is actually making a huge difference for me.

It seems my LE arm is happy with my weight loss and the boring treadmill.  May be a fluke but I'm thinking not.  Now I LOVE my boring treadmill.  Hehehe.

Pat, We've all had our downfalls. Come join us back on the wagon for the new year.  It does keep you accountable. I still have weeks  I gain but I don't think I've had two weeks in a row where I've gained because i see others losing.

As much as we all hate the cold weather I think its helping me lose weight. Maybe I should go to Alaska for a couple of months!  Either that or I've gotten in the groove on my diet enough.  I'm encouraged....

hi ladies - I'd live to join you! I would like to lose 20 lbs for my exchange surgery. This way they new me will be  new and improved. I'll weigh in on Wednesday and let you all know how I'm doing. Once I was diagnosed, I went on an eating tear as I thought I would do DIEP.  When I changed my mind and went the implant route, that was a woops!  So many pounds packed on for naught. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Welcome Swimmom2! I also have been on an eating tear as I thought a new med would cause diarrhea. But I haven't had any of that and was shocked at the result. Fortunately, I was able to get the weight down again so I'm only up 100 grams from last week.

up .6....I am blaming it on the sour cream in the fridge (left over from Christmas) that expires at the end of the week...... I have been making recipes that call for sour cream so I can use it up.....not a good weight loss move, I should just throw the rest out!

142.6, down almost 2 pounds but cheated by having a wisdom tooth out on Monday.   Not eating much and not exercising since Monday.  Not a program I'd recommend.  I've been cuddling up to a bag of frozen peas.

    Ouch, Marple!

Swimmom2, you can check out WW and register online. You can do it only online using their Etools, or you can go to meetings or do both. I did both when I was losing. I am on maintenance now.

I am up 1 lb to 119 this week, but that's OK, since I was down 1 lb last week and I'm still at goal. I'm just bouncing that one lb up and down.

I'm one of those who has also fallen off the wagon - I've gained about 4 pounds since August. Shocked It stops now.  I'll be checking in next week to report my (hopefully) loss.

NatsFan and Pat01, it really helps to see that I'm not alone in my struggle, and that other people fall off the wagon too. Happy to report a one pound loss this week. Baby steps . . .

    Welcome Swimmom!
