Wednesday Weigh In

bluetail, I'm so jealous! Have a great time.
I'm still the same weight as last week but my weigh in date for WW is Friday so fingers crossed I'll peel off something by then.
Fellow WW friends, Is a pound a week too much to ask? I feel like its a struggle to make that happen and I'm being careful not to exceed my points. If anything, I try to stay under them. If anyone has suggestions let me know

Swimmom, a lb a week is doable for a period of time but over the long haul (if you have a lot of weight to lose), there may be weeks without weight loss. Some of the women in my WW group have lost 70 lbs or more so it takes months.
WW is a good healthy eating program. I recommend it.

minus .2.....must either lower the calorie intact or up the exercise (actually, for me, I must lower the calorie intake )

119.3 - up half a pound, but still under 120, just not much wiggle room to meet my goal of still being at or under 120 lbs. by the end of the quarter on March 31. Time to get back on track.

Down .5
Was doing well until yesterday...DD got an excellent rating at a competition. We stopped on the way home for something to eat. Milkshake AND fries. I'm a social eater....
Back to my spinach juice today.

Just to get back on the Wed. track, I'm down 100 grams from 2 days ago.
Guygirl, yes, you have to be stubborn, as Marple said. Can you try a stationary bike for exercise?

Wow Heidihill--how do you get such a precise reading, 100 grams? Congratulations on moving in the right direction!
Thanks to all for the vacation good wishes!

Up 1.5 to 132.5. Not happy.

Marple, WOW! What an inspiration you are!
As for myself, I am really embarrassed to admit that I am now 10 lbs heavier than I was when I left for S.A. at the end of November 2013. No or very little exercise, and eating really whatever, so I have only myself to blame. This group helped me to lose 14 lbs, and now 10 have come back. Cannot tell you how p----d I am with myself because I know better. But the only way is to just start exercising regularly again, which I'm doing, and to be very aware of what goes into my mouth. I hope I can report a loss next week. Thanks for listening, guys. I am thoroughly ashamed of myself. It does feel good to have that off my chest.

Well, down from last week but still up from 2 weeks ago! Still trying to get myself back to an exercise routine. At least the weather appears to now be on the upswing and so should help my motivation.

When I stepped on my scale this morning, I had broken the 160 hurdle! By a half a lb.

Hi all...How many are actually active on this post? I am interested in being accountable to my weight loss goals by logging in here once a week. I have gained quite a bit over the last 10 years and feel horrible. Do you accept newbies? I'm scheduled for my BMX in two weeks, but it's important to me to get healthy. Be well

cdelv, welcome. I'm not an overly active person but I am exercising regularly. There is another thread many here go to as well for the exercise part. Being accountable for weight loss here has played a part in my success. It's also a good way to keep track of your own results and also gives you a weekly aim. I wish you well with your surgery. It's nice to see you've found this thread.
Edit to add the link to the exercise thread. http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/58/topic/741082?page=637#idx_19081

cdelv66, come over to the exercise thread Marple posted. A great group of ladies in all stages of treatment and beyond, we do all sorts of exercises and are at all levels of exercise too. It definitely helps to accountable for the exercise as well as the weight!

today isn't wednesday...I know... but I saw I have not been on since middle of July 2012! So... I am just saying-- I am back. My weight is in a reasonable range but not where I would like. More important however, is that I have lost SO much muscle in the last 15 months. I am 56 and really need to get some of it back. Anyone find that has happened for them? Oh... and I have not gotten on scale this week but I will see you Wednesday! Q

Great news carolehalston!
down 8/10 of a lb this week. Feel guilty rounding
Lost 6 lbs in 3 wks on WW. I have a love-hate relationship with eating out now. I love the eating part but hate guessing how many points I'm eating. Any tips beside the usual?

Bluetail, I had a moment of panic with your question as I wondered if I'd been doing it wrong this whole time. My scale is in Kilos. So if I'm down 1/10th of a Kilo, which is the smallest denomination on my scale, that's equivalent to 100 grams. It's German precision. I have an old model, the new ones calibrate up to 50 grams.

Quasstsi, check out the exercise thread mentioned by Marple. We'd love to see you over there.

I did not want to get on the scale this week. Birthday party, engagement party, and work food day. Need I say more. See ya next week!

Swimmom, I know what you mean about calculating points when you eat out. I usually approach the matter from components in the meal. For example, on Wed. I had a spinach salad topped with a salmon filet. The dressing was a veggie sauce and there was also pico de gallo on top of the fish. I scraped that off because I hate raw onions but it didn't have any pts anyway. I tried to calculate the weight of salmon, which was a largish piece. The raw spinach was 0 and the only possible points in the veggie sauce would have been a little oil. I think I judged the salmon to be 5 or 6 oz and looked that up.
If I were to eat a sandwich, I would calculate the bread and then the individual foods. Ham, cheese, mayo, whatever. When I get a café au lait, I calculate how much milk is mixed with the coffee and just count those pts since I use nonsugar sweetener. Hope that helps.
A man just joined our WW group on Mon. morning. He isn't counting pts. but doing the system where you eat foods from an approved list. He lost 7 lbs the first week. We gave him a hard time! I happen to like the pt system because I figure in a glass of wine or sometimes a cocktail at night and cut back on food pts by loading up on veggies and fruit. I usually figure out the pts for my dinner ahead of time.

thanks carolehalston. I'm going out to dinner tonight. I've studied at the menu on line with the same passion as my husband reading baseball stats in the paper.

Swimmom, great analogy!

I'm not doing weight watchers but I eliminate almost all of the bread, rice, white potatoes so I also study restaurant menus. Almost all the "chain" restaurants have their nutrition facts online too. If I have a plan, I do better. BTW all restaurants will substitute vegetables or fruit for french fries, mashed potatos and other things we shouldn't eat. I've never had one say no or charge me extra even.
P.S. I weighed myself this morning after one "clean" day back on the plan after the eating frenzy week and I am up 1.1 lb from my previous week but still lower than that plateau I was at. So not too bad. That's one of my other strategies. If I know I'll be up, I just get back on the wagon and I don't weigh myself at the worst because I am prone to that, "Oh f*@!!, I'm just going to eat what I want" when I see my weight jump back to some ugly point.

TwoHobbies, I totally agree that having a plan really helps. Next weekend dh and I are going to an afternoon barbecue and I'm thinking ahead to what I can bring that will good for me to eat in place of the usual high cal and high fat sides. I printed out a recipe from Hungry Girl for potato salad made with cauliflower. It sounds pretty good. I may also bring a raw veggie munchies tray with hummus or another low fat dip. Weight is so hard to lose and so easy to regain.

Carole, re your last sentence in your past post: You can say that again! But I'm doing okay so far, have reigned myself in, have been exercising. Will see what happens on Wednesday.

Up half a pound from last week, but I'm still on target for my goal for the first quarter of 2014. I'll weigh in again on Monday, the 31st.

Haven't been here in a couple of weeks, but happy to say I am down 3.5 lbs to 161.5 since the beginning of the year. So I've officially lost my February vacation weight, but still have 4 more pounds to go to get to my pre Thanksgiving weight. Been aiming for .5 lbs per week, slow and steady, hoping that maybe this time it will stay off. Carol, great job getting under 160! Liefie, I'm sorry you gained back, but sounds like you are getting back on track. This winter has not been one conducive to exercise and good eating (she says as she looks out the window at snow and high winds - seriously???) My son is getting married in September, so I do have an incentive to shed weight - my goal is to weigh 150 by the wedding.
