Well ladies, I am back from vacation, and I gained 4 lbs!  Lots of eating, drinking, and not much exercise at all.  Time to get serious...

I hope it was a lovely vacation.  We all need to spend time indulging ourselves.

Pat, I hope you had a great vacation and enjoyed every minute.  4 lbs is not a disaster.  But I do believe in losing 3 or 4 lbs as soon as you gain it.  Otherwise 4 turns to 10 turns to...

TwoHobbies, true words indeed. I'm still fighting the 4 lbs I gained in December . . . go figure!

Two, I've got to try to get rid of those sneaky kilos (yes, with an s) this coming week. I've been eating too many Valentine goodies and not moving enough. Ugh.

Heidi, Know what you mean. I need to lose 1 1/2 lbs to stay the same as last week. Ugh!

    Ruth - too funny!

I had a lovely vacation, and do not for a minute regret my indulgences.  Those 4 lbs I gained were actually the 4 I had lost since New Years after gaining 7 in November and December.  Finally back on the exercise wagon, and spending a week in a bathing suit at my weight is enough to get me to make good food choices from here on out - summer is coming!

Back to WW meeting this morning.  The last meeting attended was in April, 2013.  I've gained 10 lbs and can't squeeze into any of my regular size clothes.  Wish me success!

Carole, I wish you success. You're defo moving in the right direction. Better than me. This weekend DH and I experimented with organic Emmer flour, an ancient grain that we bought from a mill. I made bread; he baked a cake with avocado frosting. We sampled, and sampled, and sampled . . . then got friends over, and it's now gone, thankfully. But I will pay, I know. Can't get out of the house either. It's been snowing here for a week now.

Carole, I wish you success! WW helps keep me accountable. I went back last September after being away for several years.

I just dug out my really old Richard Simmons Foodmover......no tech, just slip in the calories you want to eat, close the windows of the different food groups as you eat them, and stop when you're done. IF I do that, it will work.

Game on! My surgery date is in one month from today. I have to focus on something other than the surgery. Starting wt today...158. €#%£€%# that was me cussing at myself. Time to kick butt!!! Trying for lean proteins and lots of fruits and veggies. No more sugar! Well, maybe a bit of dark choc...

    Thanks for all the encouragement.

Liefie, avocado frosting?  Bread is a big weakness for me.  Nothing is better than home-made bread and butter.

Day 2 is going ok.  DH and I went to the gym this morning and I earned some activity "points."  He's going to a woodworkers' guild meeting tonight so there won't be the temptation of having a glass of wine or cocktail before dinner.  We'll eat before he goes.

Ruthbru, I'm not familiar with the Foodmover.  During the months while I wasn't attending WW, there has been a change in the program.  You don't have to count points if you stick to a group of so-called power foods.  But I'm sticking with the point system for now.

WW teaches some good techniques like taking a healthy snack with you when you're out and about or off to work.  My favorite is an apple that I've cored and cut into slices.  And string cheese.

Here's the Food Mover. You pick what amount of calories you want to eat & slide it in. It shows you how many serving in each category you should eat and you slide the window closed as you eat them. Also has windows for water, exercise, vitamins and positive thoughts 'I will set a daily goal', 'I will find something to laugh about every day' etc. etc. I find it easier to use than going online to track my calories & exercise (although there are some good online programs out there). If you think it looks interesting, you can check out his website (that's where I got the picture from).

When I was pregnant with DS, my doctor gave me a list of what I had to eat. Needless to say it was high protein with lots of salads, fruits and vegetables. I think it had milk also; I didn't have problems drinking it then. I remember saving calories all week so I could have a donut on Friday. But it really worked.

I thought the food mover was to help with constipation. Loopy Just talked to my onc yesterday and he said I could stay on the reduced dose of metformin or take laxatives and magnesium with the higher dose.

I am 700 grams down from my Valentine-induced peak.

Yay to all the ladies who are losing!  I can join you this week, finally!

Down 2.5 to 164 - starting to chip away at the 4 lb weight gain from my week vacation.  Finally started going to the gym again, so more movement and some sensible eating and drinking is helping. So many empty calories in alcohol, but our friend group likes to indulge and it is so hard to refrain when we are out together, or like you said Carol just having a glass of wine with your hubby at night.  Problem for me is when it turns into more than a glass! Still have another 6.5 lbs to go to get back to what I was before Thanksgiving, so I have my work cut out for me.  Plus, my son is getting married in September in Southern California, and there is a short window in New England where I will be able to find an appropriate dress, as they start rolling out fall fashions by the end of June. Luckily my good friend who helped me pick out my dress for my daughters wedding is in the same boat, her son is getting married in July, so we have already made a date for March to start the search for the perfect dresses.  Yet another reason for me to try and firm up and slim down a bit before we go dress shopping.

I'm up 2.6 lbs, which makes sense, because last week's 3 lb loss was weird, so I have a net loss of 0.6 lb from 2 weeks ago. I weighed 118.1 this morning.

Hope you guys don't mind a passer by commenting on this topic which is so dear to my heart and every other part of my body. I have always been weight conscious so fighting extra weight mainly from Tamoxifen is really frustrating. Its not like you can starve yourself or cut out all the good stuff and it will work because it doesn't. Now my Oncologist gives me a scrip for Effexor and tells me I will either gain or lose weight. Seriously? I get the good stuff from Tamox and Effexor but I am not going to take something else that may or may not cause weight gain. There are people who lose weight on Tamoxifen but that is def the minority. Lent starts next Wednesday and I am committed to church services and no sugar stuff. I exercise on the treadmill and starting back on jazzercise. Feel better but not losing the weight. BTW I can attest to how good Richard Simmons tapes are. I used to do the Oldies tapes of his and I can tell you I could tell a major difference. My clothes were so loose. That was then, this is now. At least my ONC said I wont be on Tamoxifen for 10 years but I am 3 years from my DX so I have 2 years to go. Good luck to all of you. I am determined I am not going to buy bigger clothes. I don't have a wedding to go to but my granddaughter is graduating from high school in May in Chattanooga and we are hitting the beach in July and I dont want to wear my all weather coat over my swimsuit...haha. ...Diane

    Dianne,

Hang in there!! For me it has become HEALTHY CHOICES rather than "gettin' skinny." That mindset really makes a difference. It has taken FOREVER for me to see that scale budge but it is finally moving in the right direction. Hang out with us here and in the Exercise thread. It really helps to have the support and encouragement!!!!

My report for this week: YAY! I lost what I gained from Valentine's weekend/post surgical exercise restrictions. Whew. Cuz that really ticked me off!!! Gained it in two days and took two weeks to lose it. Blah!! 145. I would love, love, love to lose 10 more before my 30th highschool reunion this summer. That would be my average weight in highschool/college. Take THAT nasty first guy I dated!!!! Loopy

Congratulations!  Weight loss for everyone except Annie, who isn't surprised.  I'm down 3 lbs since Monday morning but, as we all know, the first 3 lbs is lost with trips to the bathroom!  Fluid loss which can come back with one high cal and high carb binge.  Still, I'm encouraged.  It feels good to be more in control.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Did not weigh this morning. DD in hospital having a baby, my first grandchild. Is that a legitimate excuse? LOL.

OMG Liefie, you must be so excited.  The thrill alone may wear off a pound or so. Winking Who cares about weight other than that of the new babe?  Can't wait to hear your news.  Good luck.

Congratulations, Liefie.  How wonderful!  I will weigh in tomorrow too.   My excuse is far more boring and no joy involved.  I'm in such a rush Wednesday mornings due to my work schedule that I frequently forget to weigh.

Wow it seems everyone is doing good this week.  I hope I'll be in the same boat but I'm kind of expecting to be approximately the same as last week.  We'll see.
