Yay is right! Good for you!
Lots of excuses, no change for me

Yay, Marple!
I'm happy to be back down to 145 again. Especially knowing some of the things I've eaten this week! Back on track!

At WW weigh in on Mon. I was down .4 lbs. After celebrating my birthday on Fri., Sat. and Sun, I was happy for any weight loss.
Yay, Marple!

118.8 lbs which is about the same as last week, after a week of eating dangerously with my brother and sister-in-law visiting from Nebraska. We've been eating out and celebrating birthdays, so lots of good food and cake. Could be much worse, so I'm happy and still under 120, which is my goal for March 31.

Haven't been here in so long can't say where I'm at related to the last time. I do know I'm high in the 180's so will check back in next week and hopefully can say I'm down.

Stayed the same at 131. Of course I didn't do anything that might lead to weight loss, so no surprise.

I am down .9 lb which is officially the lowest I have been in 10 years!
Darn that was hard though! I miss the days of youth when my diet was no fast food or ice cream.

Nice to see so many familiar names/faces from the daily exercise thread!
Since starting on tamoxifen in Nov. '13, it's been a real struggle to keep weight off, in spite of feeling like i'm starving most of the time and am religious about exercise. So. Today at the gym, i weighed in at 161.5 lbs (i'm 5'9.5"/176.5 cm) and would love to get down to between 150-155.
Anyone else here on tamoxifen who thinks that it makes losing/maintaining weight more difficult?

Congrats to all the losers and stay the samers!
I'm down 2 to 163.
I have to say I did not notice any weight gain associated with Tamoxifen, as I had been plumping out all by myself before my diagnosis/treatment! Funny bluetail, our weight loss goals are the same, but I am so much shorter than you are! (5'3") To me, getting to 150 and staying there would be a wonderful goal, and with 13 lbs to go, a somewhat attainable one, if I can just keep from stuffing bad things in my mouth. Someone recently posted a picture of me on facebook from the late 70's, I think my weight at the time was around 125. What a difference! From there I gained about one dress size/kid (3), then with menopause added another dress size. Yes twohobbies, dieting was so much easier when we were younger, now it's an occupation

Dieting an "occupation"! I like that!

Pat, you are so right, it is a full-time job! Bluetail, I was able to lose weight on tamoxifen but I did completely change the way I eat - giving up most bread, pasta, dairy, white potatos and most sweets. The good news is eating this way has become easier and I'm sure its healthier and its brought me down "into" my BMI instead of at the precarious top of it.

I'm chugging along on weight watchers, lost another pound but must admit I went off the rails today!! Used up 1/2 of my bonus points going out to lunch & dinner but it was fun! Back to it tomorrow! Glad to see everyone else is doing well.

Out of desperation i think it's time for the Tight Pants Diet, which usually works for me. You simply wear tight pants (pretty much every pair these days) when you eat and you are guaranteed to feel so uncomfortable--and so numb below the waist--that it will be difficult to overindulge. That's my strategy, pat01, to get down to my goal weight!
Congratulations, TwoHobbies, on your weight loss and for doing it while on tamoxifen! Just curious--what are your two hobbies?

Bluetail, I remember Elizabeth Taylor's advice to never wear elastic waist pants.

Yes, elastic waist pants is what did me in between Thanksgiving and New Years - hubby had knee replacement, so I took 3 weeks out of work to care for him since he couldn't drive. Spent every day in yoga pants, sitting around eating comfort food (for him!). I've tried the tight pants diet, but have such a hard time sitting at my desk all day with such discomfort, and also hate the perpetual muffin top the tight pants give. I've been exercising more, so the pants are starting to fit a little better, even if the scale isn't budging all that much.

Pat01, It's how the clothes look and feel, not the numbers on the scale. Muscle weighs more than fat, so it's not uncommon for the measurements to improve while the scale stays steady.

Well, my appetite should be off for awhile. I have just been cleaning out the basement freezer, which apparently died a few days ago. OMG....GROSS!!!!!
0 -
Oh no! I hope you didn't lose a lot of good stuff. Anything green for St. Paddy's Day?
0 -
Nothing had turned green yet, but it was well on the way.
0 -
We had that happen once. Gross is a really mild term for the contents.

I can smell it from just reading about it, Ruth. Yuck.
Weighing in late for last week but early for this week. Down 200 grams.
I think it's harder to lose on Tamoxifen but it may be just getting older in my case.

Down 1.8 lbs from last Monday. Hoping to be down to goal weight by next Monday.

I miss Elizabeth Taylor! What an iconoclast she was, and it didn't look like she'd disfigured herself with too much plastic surgery--but i can totally understand that she drew the line at elastic-waist pants!
The tight-pants diet netted a whopping 8 oz. weight loss this week, or maybe i had a good pee before weigh-in, either-or.
Re: tamoxifen: i know it's important to take responsibility for one's behavior, but on days when i'm in a dark mood everything gets blamed on it, from an icy sidewalk to burned toast!
i'm leaving soon for a two-week bicycle trip to Mississippi--a friend & i are driving from Pittsburgh to Jackson, MS, and we plan to stop along the way to explore local sites by bike but we have no idea today what route we'll be taking, as that will depend on whether there's 'wintry mix' or other meteorological surprises in the forecasts for places between here and there.

Sounds great! Enjoy!

bluetail that sounds like great fun and a great way to see spring. Keep us posted

What fun, Bluetail! Post pics, please!
I am always happy to have a good pee before weigh-in.

130.8 down .2 from last week.
Bluetail, a two week bicycle trip sounds like fun. What great exercise. Wishing you a safe journey.

I have been AWOL from this thread for awhile because I am so frustrated. Having Plantar Fasciitis in my left heel since September has really put a damper on my exercise. Add that to all the snow we have had this year, all I want to do is be a couch potatoe. So here I sit exactly 10 pounds over my weight watchers goal of 130. Has anyone discovered an eating plan that works well with Lymphedema. I am 54 and all of the tricks that I used in the past are not working. I am getting so frustrated. I am finally able to exercise again, but I can't seem to get the weight to move. My body is stubborn, it likes to hold on to the extra pounds. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

GuyGirl, I have lymphedema and I can understand your frustration with the limitations that can be involved. Add foot issues to the mix and it becomes even more difficult to exercise. For me there has been no secret for eating to lose weight. I simply cut out snacking and cut down on portions. I was 170 Sept. 1st of last year and am now 130.8. I have not been this weight for 30 years. But, I don't have foot issues so I've been able to use my treadmill religiously. Many weeks I went with no weight loss. What I have learned is as I've aged, it takes longer to lose. I just had to be more stubborn than the pounds. If you stick with it, the pounds will go.
