Lupe, sorry you are here and worried, but you came to the right place for information and guidance. Until other members come along to post with their own experiences and advice, we would recommend you to please go and get it checked out again now that you've finished your treatment. We can understand that after this experience you don't trust your doctor anymore, but you could always get a second opinion if you want to push the issue (just clic on the link for helpful tips from our main site on that).
Hope this helps! Please come back to let us all know how you're doing!

Yes, the clips are most likely causing the pain. I had no issues until titanium clips were placed unknowingly in my right lower breast after a benign biopsy. From that day on...I have had a shooting/stabbing pain in that area for years. This is not normal people and you shouldn't feel afraid to speak up. I thought the pain would go away, but it hasn't. It has gotten worse in that area. It wasn't until I explained the pain in that area to the mammogram appt to the tech, that should told me the Exray showed two titanium clips. I now know what is causing the pain. Why are drs dismissing patients' pleas about the clips causing them pain? They also refuse to take them out...even though it is your own body. Something is wrong with this picture. If anyone has found a dr to remove these...please let me know. I hope there becomes a more public awareness of the pain these clips are causing many. Are the drs being threatened by the American Medical Association? Is it because they are being paid by the makers of these titanium clips and so they ignore patients pain and suffering?

To All:
If anyone manages to find someone to remove their biopsy markers, I would be very interested to know if their removal eliminates the pain and other symptoms. Thanks.

Do you know of a Dr that will remove these?

Not personally. Ask your radiologist since this article on the subject was published in a radiology journal:

I have been living with pain from a marker for over 16 months now. Ihave had my pain blown off and dismissed. My lymph nodes are swollen, my marker migrated from the center of my breast to the side of my breast and landed in an entirely different cyst (I have fibrocystic breasts). I had a doctor look me in the eye and say "I know you THINK that the marker is causing you pain, but it is NOT. and I know you think that this marker has moved, but markers do NOT MOVE. If you want to have it removed, we will also remove a large portion of your (otherwise healthy) breast, and I will say that it was because you demanded that it be removed, and you insisted on stating that you were in pain. I have spent over 3000$ out of pocket complaining and asking for imaging, calling the doctor with stabbing pain for a marker that moved after a biopsy that was done for years ago. I keep getting told that since this marker is in the middle of a cyst (it's a different cyst! I know. my breasts) that it hasnt' moved. And I'm told that it Isn't causing pain. But… none of my other cysts are hurting me and waking me in the middle of the night. I have filed complaints, I have taken on an extra job to pay for this incompetent "healthcare", and I keep being told that this is all in my head. There is something WRONG with this marker and NOBODY gives a flying FUCK! I don't even know what brand of marker was inserted in me. The only thing that was written on my chart was "anxiety", … not the type of marker, not months of searing pain, not a low grade fever, not swollen lymph nodes ever since they inserted it. I'm fed up. I need a lawyer or someone to advocate on my behalf. There's something wrong with these markers, and women need to be alerted to their use.

Hi @kdsing , I’m sorry you are having difficulty getting your pain addressed. There is a marker, Hologic's BioZorb Marker, which was recalled in 2024 because it can migrate and cause pain. The FDA recommendation is to remove it if the patient has symptoms so doctors should comply. If the brand of marker used is not in your medical records someone where the procedure was done should be able to find purchasing records showing the brand of marker being used at the time your marker was inserted. If there is a patient advocate at the hospital they should help you get this information. All the best in getting this situation resolved.
