    Hi Ladies

Just a quick pop in to say I'm doing ok, resting and dealing with medicos and palliative team to get me home soon. We are all gradually coming to terms with what we have. I enjoy reading your posts but will stay in the background. I love the way you all chat and support each other through the most difficult and the most everyday of issues.

    With love

Lovely to see you here Angela :-)

We have arrived safely home this evening. Eleven hours driving between hubby and I with a stop at a really amazing country town cafe for lunch. Had a lovely weekend with our old friends...

Jenn, I loved your photo of you and hubby. Great that you had a lovely weekend.

I have this annoying lump under my BC breast. It is sort of at the top of the ribs and feels quite hard. It has been there a while but nothing has shown up on ultrasound (but that wasn't so reliable with BC either).

Anyway it is really getting to me. It is quite painful when I have a bra on. Anyone had this?

Great to see you drop in Angela and hoping you can get home is comfort soon. Thoughts are with you.

Jenn glad you are home safe and sound.......that road trip sure was a doozy! But glad you enjoyed your time away with hubby.

Kylie I haven't had a lump like that but my suggestion is, if it is really bothering you ask about getting a CT to rule out everything else, particularly since the ultrasound doesn't pick it up.

Have been sitting all day trying to work out a crochet pattern for DD. I think I've come up with something that will look lovely but I need her approval so I have done a small sample so she can see what I'm talking about. I'll see her next weekend so I have a bit more time to perfect it......lol. Back to the grind stone tomorrow........I'm off for my regular massage........gosh it's a hard life, but I guess someone has to live it.....hahahaha!

Hey Girls, have an apointment at thyroid clinic next thursday, they are doing a liver and kidney profile, diabetes testing, thyroid, but they doing a test for enlarged tyroid, they have that as a possible Dx on lab form, which is physically impossible as i have not got one, a gland, i was born without one, i am very complex because of this issue, so how can i have an enlarged  thyroid, this is to do with swelling in the throat that doc found, well the other day it was with the abcess, looked like i have about 10 gobstopper lollies in my cheek, the only one who will be able to give them my history is my mum, but she is going to be with me and then going on a tour thing with her brother and family to some caves. so they will have to ring her cell phone or get hold of my medical records in Auckland, i guess they should be available its over 50 years ago, oh well they will find out more than i could. i have one on tuesday and the other thursday. and then the ones for  the colonoscopy etc at end of month. busy month for apointments. But i am a complicated being with the medical issues i have, lol no wonder they want to pass the buck to each other, i am in the too hard basket. Got to have one i guess, lol. well chrissy hope you will have a better week and everybody who is going thru hardtimes. Angela am thinking of you girl, be good for you to be at home. Chrissy enjoy yr massage and Kylie get that lump checked, be safe than sorry. enjoy  yr day girls.

Oh Alyson, you are in the wars as well, most of us are having a bad run at the moment. well you rest and stay warm. am thinking of you, was going to rung this week, but will wait til you feel better. BIG HUGS OOXX.

Chrissy, i was relaying  to  Ron (hubby)what you were saying about,  that because of you, yr girls are getting BC and i know you were shocked when you said it so probably just a reaction to the news. he said, you need to turn that thinking around from that negative aspect  and think well, because of me, they are aware of the possibility of them following suit and  can get on to it early, so Chrissy is actually saving their lives  as they can get early detection. So because of you Chrissy, they have a good chance of finding it early, and we are both keeping fingers crossed, it is a harmless Benign lumps and that goes for all mothers who are blaming  themselves for their daughters getting BC, change the thinking around and think, Because of me they have the oportunity to get early detection and find it early which will save their life. It is most unfortunate that your daughters are finding out they may have a problem,  but there is nothing they can do and certainly nothing you can do Chrissy to stop that happening. There are things that we just can't  control and That is one of them . Just thought i would relay that  to you, that came from my hubby. It is easier said, that done, i know. It will be because of you that whatever happens, they will get a good result and if not, a good prognosis. big hugs

Thanks Annette, Ron and Aly. Yes I do understand the positive in all this and remarked to her that at least because of family history she has gotten appointments when there weren't any available. They have fast tracked everything particularly when she mentioned that her mum was stage IV BC........so yes, that is a good thing.

Roll on Wednesday evening! The waiting was hard enough when it was for me but it is way worse because it is one of my kids. I'm just being a parent even though the 'child' is over forty, she will always be my child and I can't help but worry about her.

I've tried to keep mind and hands busy over the weekend and I think I have found the pattern needed for the wedding dress. The sample is almost finished so I can show DD2 next weekend when I see her.

Aly, I had hoped that your cold wouldn't be deep enough for pneumonia but here it is. Make sure you do exactly what the doc ordered, rest, rest rest! Get stuck into your meds and make others waite on you for a change. I've been there and done that twice so I know how debilitated you feel. Take care.

Heading out for my massage so will catch you all later.

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

WOW... I am back from my intro appointment with the oncologist at a different centre. What a lovely guy and I felt comfortable with him right from the first moment. It was a GOOD "first date": he seemed interested in "me" not just my disease; he asked me about my family; he had obviously read the same research papers I have and was prepared to discuss them openly.

He kept using the words "So I guess they've explained... and I kept having to say "No. MY current team didn't explain that."

He asked me about my menopausal status (pre-menopausal before chemo but no period since my second round of FEC last February) and actually wants to "design" my follow-up plan with that in mind.

My previous oncologist seemed disinterested in what my menopausal status was and only did a hormone panel test before my last visit because I asked and then barely looked at it. This guy asked to see the hormone panel results and when the copy I had didn't have the normal ranges he got his nurse to call the lab right then and there and we now know that for one of the hormones I am looking menopausal and the other reading is low but not yet menopausal. He has asked me to have the blood test done again in 6 months before I see him.

He discussed moving to an AI once I do get into menopausal levels and has given me a referral to schedule a bone density scan in 6 months at the same time as the hormone panel. My other oncologist was disinterested in doing a bone density test for me when I had asked.

He looked at all of my treatments and was happy that I had been treated appropriately, which is the one thing I did know already :-)

Oh, and instead of the usual over an hour wait for my appointment, he called me in 9 minutes late and apologised for the delay!

Chrissy, I hope that everything goes smoothly with your daughter's testing and the results come back quickly. I really need to sit my older daughter down and talk to her again about having to check her breasts regularly since I am now her "family history". I see what seems to be so many young women in their 20's and 30's here on breastcancer.org that I am terrified for my daughters, but at least they know they have to be vigilant.

Annette, I am so pleased to hear that you have an appointment lined up to try and sort through some of your ongoing health issues. Look after yourself and hubby. I bet he will feel better just knowing that you now have that appointment lined up too.

regards Jenn (PS: I put up a new blog post the other day - link below)

Wow Jenn! What a first date!! Sounds like a match made in heaven! So good that he is on the same wavelength and interested in the 'whole' you not just the disease.......hard to find docs like that but soooo glad you have.

Yes, having daughters and having this disease makes us ever so vigilant for them and worry for them as well. There is a little more family history on both sides for us not just me so my two have to be super vigilant and make sure they get their checkups regularly. Thankfully, they are pretty good at doing that. Jenn, hope your girls get the message and do likewise.

Well today was my last day with my health fund contributing to the cost of my massage so I'll now have to cut back to once a fortnight or may be just once a month until it kicks in again January 1st. BOOHOO!!!!! I do so get some comfort and pain relief from it so I want to try to keep it going besides, she keeps my lymphadema under control as well.

Did some browsing in a fabric stir before I went as I was early.......bad move! I found a book with exquisite wedding embroidery so nw can't wait to get the train on the go and finished so I can do some........nothing like having something to keep my itchy fingers working.........lol.

Hope you all had as good a day as possible.

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

    Hello all

sorry I've been missing, this cold has knocked me around a bit.  Although nothing compared to what some of you are going through.

Angela so nice to see you drop in - and I hope you are home and comfortable soon - I'm still thinking of you every day xoxox

It was good to read all the other posts, but I can't respond to you all as my head just isn't working well tonight, just know I'm thinking of you all.

Trish, moving house is stressful. I don't envy that.

Chrissy, thinking of you and your daughter tomorrow. She is fortunate to have you as her mother.

Angela, thinking of you and saying a prayer every day.

    Hi Racy, and Kylie,

I wondered if that may be Mondors too.

I was dx with Mondors after my Mx, and mine started where a bra would sit over my ribs, and then went down my abdomen and branched like a tree in several directons.

Mine eased off with massage, and was pretty much gone after about 7 weeks. I did as much research as I could on it, and discovered that it it is caused by trauma to the breast, which can be all kinds of things including surgery. I actually found that it is quite common in women who have augmentation. My surgeon said it was quite rare in Mx surgery, but if you've had it, that it can return......great.

There is also a  crossover between Mondors and Cording under the arm, apparently when these cords have been biopsied, some are vein and some are lymph.

The one positive thing is, that no Doctors seem to bother about it, they say it is "self limiting". My surgeon told me to take low dose asprin, and to stay on it because of the positive findings in different kinds of cancer, and because Mondors is essentially a phlebitis.

Just wondering if you may have had anything like this before?

Chrissy, that sounds amazing. You are very talented. Good thoughts for you and your daughter today. x

Ariom and Racy, thanks I will def. bring that up with Onc.

Like Jenn I am off to meet a new Onc tomorrow. I didnt want to do it as I adore my Onc but 3 hours travel is pointless and I want to be in the nearest hospital's system. They just opened a new cancer ward locally 2 weeks ago and I can't get the breast care nurses to inject my zoladex without a local Onc.

Thanks Kylie, I just like to keep my hands busy....lol.

Goodnews!  Doc says the DD's lumps are nothing to worry about but he is going to keep an eye on her and wants to see her again in two months.  He will also continue to see her for a check up once a year as well so I know she will be well monitored in future.  What a week!  I'm so glad it is over.

Oh wow, yipee Chrissy, i am so glad. Phew what a relief. you can relax and do your sewing much more with a lighter heart.

I had my tooth out, on soft food tonight, so having a  macaroni cheese microwave dinner and some yogurt, nothing hot, ie drinks etc, luke warm dinners, well i don't like boling hot  food anyway, maybe a piece of soft bread and butter. 350 bucks to do that, which would of been the injections, they don't do the gas thing over here, i had about four injections and them extra as it still needing anddid not want to feel a thing, have some more panandine, has codine in it. the injections are wearing off, so will take those soon with last antibiotic.

it is heavy rain here, yay, we need to fill the wayer resivors up. so we don't mind. well i will go amd make my bed up better, it is kind of a mess, so good night lovely ladies and congrats on yr news chrissy.

Kylie - good luck with the new onc. Let me know who you end up with as I am just starting a new trial and there's a couple of sites up that way that I emailed to see if they are interested... My new onc is Gavin Marx :-)

Annette - hope you feel better tomorrow and that you heal quickly.

Annette, sure hope your mouth heals quickly and iis not too sore in the mean time.   Take it easy and rest when you need.
