Hi Stressmagnet, nice to hear from you. Sounds like your treatment is doing really good things for you which is a really good thing.......lol. Hope the visit with the doc goes well for you tomorrow and you get some of the answers you are after.

Hi goils! Been freezing my >#^\ off today........if I had any......brrrrr. I can't remember when it was this cold.......or maybe I'm just getting old and feel the cold more.......most unusual as I'm usually on fire from the flushes.........lol. Been taking advantage though, got the fire stoked up and the tele on and been crocheting my little fingers off getting a lot of this train done for DD.

Things are starting to come together, we finally got the linen side of things organised while I was in the city last week so all we have to do is pick it up the week of the wedding. There are a few things I need to check with the restaurant but it looks like we are sort of organised.......famous last words as I'm sure I'll find something that is not done.......lol.

    Stay warm all!

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Chrissy, you are wonderfully organised! There is usually some small thing remembered at the last minute but that adds to the excitement....just make sure the big things are covered :-)

Hi, Girls, if you have heard NZ news, you would of heard that Wellington had a  earthquake, it shook the ground that we stand in here as well in Palmerston North, i was laying on bed watching tv and all of a sudden the bed staeted to sway and roll, very strange feeling, was not a jolt, was a rolling like a sea wave and almost made me feel like throwing up, affected my inner ear, as i get menieres. and i felt the nausea for a good hour or two, it went on for ages. musical said, their hedge moved like a snake crawling  thru it. it was a weired one sensation, our lights were swinging and the power flickered, tv went off for about 30 secs. im think it hit a number of areas north and  south,  Dogs were very unsettled for hours and the cats had eyes like saucers. hubby was walking in paddock and he said, suddenly the birds stopped chirping and then the gates and trees started shaking, he grabbed onto to one of the trucks parked in paddock or he would of been face down in mud. said, it was like riding a  wave. glad we had only the one, poor wellington had them all night. well i need to keep moving, have the gym today at one, so will get my clothes ready, bye for now.  xxxxx

Hi girls....thanks to all for the good wishes re my future grandchild....:)

I still have my emotional moments but have gotten myself to the point of enjoying what I can.... I've already done some baby shopping! I made up a basket with bits & pieces in it to give my DD......makes it feel more real. I got the cutest little onesies, bibs, socks etc. Then on Saturday DD & went shopping together, that was lovely. And I'm already planning which room to turn into a nursery!!

Chrissy....thanks for the tips re leaving memories. I really will have to do something in that regard as the aggressiveness of Triple Neg & lack of treatment makes it very unlikely I'll be around long enough for my grandchild to remember me....:(

I feel for you having to wait for test results....I absolutely HATE waiting!! I'd rather know, even if its bad news.

The wedding sounds like its all coming together & can't wait to see the end result :)

Trish....thanks for your lovely words.....it didn't sound fumbling at all to me, just caring & loving....x

Midnight....seriously, you could write a book about everything that happens in your life....you could make it a black comedy....lol. Seriously, I hope hubby is ok & it's a while before the next drama...:)

Stressmagnet....nice to hear from you & glad you're doing ok. I'm on Xeloda too, have been since February this year...it's kept me pretty stable, I have my next scans next week.

So I would be most interested to hear what your visit with the new doc brings.

Delvzy....nice to hear from you too & happy to hear your going along nicely :)

Has anyone been having trouble with the site since the maintenance? Every time I go to My Favourite Topics it brings up the currently undergoing maintenance page!! So I have to go through active topics to find my topics.....

Have a nice day lovely ladies....

Karen, i couldn't agree more. it is one drama after another and i am so over it, i feel tired and distorted, trying to keep on top of things, not easy at times. hubby restless  as his hand hurts at night and he is not sleeping, and nor do i.  but he continually is on egg shells, wondering if the temps we have working for us, are going to show up. I am so for throwing the towel in and so is  hubby, but bl----y BIl keeps on trying to hold on to it, by cutting off 2 runs, would help so much and make a big difference. I  try not to say too much on here as alot has happened. it just gets to the stage i just want to go far away. Hubby and i sometimes go out and think, shall we escape, where shall we go and blow the whole dam thing, its our babies that we come back to.  Anyway i will to keep on with it, as i support hubby and he needs me,as i need him. just wish he would speak up and say what he wants instead BIL having all the say, really pisses me off, excuse the language. i will get going  here and  have a cuppa, its not all drama, but lately has been too much to take. love to all.

    Hi all,

Busy day here in Auckland at my Mum's house...

We realised really quickly that we have arrived thankfully not too long after she started hoarding stuff. Her spare room was packed with bags and boxes of paper recycling stuff!

We have made two trips to the tip with the car full. We will have at least another 2-3 trips a day for the next couple of days. There's also a whole lot of cleaning to do in the bathroom and kitchen, and cobwebs seem to be in every corner and behind every piece of furniture.

My back hurts already... And, it was a bit stressful trying to persuade Mum that she really didn't need to keep Dad's tie collection. He died in 1994...

Back there each day for the next few days to get as much done as we can.

Jenn, try not to wear yrself out, with all that work. take care. xxxx

Hope you all ok, sorry to be sounding off in previous message, but Karen is right, i should do a  book, mum says, my life is too hectic. when i go up to mums place up north in sept for her 80th, i am going to stay and have  few days away seeing family etc. so will look forward to that,  have not been there for 5 years.  naughty, but there had been accasions wyhen i did not want to go because of family fall outs, esp around my BC dx. But now things have much improved in that area, will be a better time if everybody is unified. Anyway love you all, so will go and watch tv.  Dam,Heidi has found the sqeaky toy and  i thought i hid it well, dogs love to make them sqeak. i will get it off her again and hide it again, she will drive us nuts.  lol

Annette, it's good to have a vent sometimes and here is a good place because it's just between us here. Terrible news about the earthquake...good to hear you weren't too affected.

I've found that the site seems to be 'sticky'. Takes ages to register and for the screen to roll over. If you are having that sort is access problem Karen I'd PM the Mods and let them know.

Annette so glad you are okay and not badly affected by the earth quake. Yup, the book idea sounds perfect for you as you often have me chuckling with the goings on of your life. Glad hubby didnt end up face planting the mud......lol. How is his hand?

Wow Jenn, a timely arrival I'd say! Such a lot of work though getting it all sorted. My mum went the other way and gave away just about everything! I must say it was an easy thing to sort her estate when she passed as there was not very much left.

Karen sounds like you are having fun with all the shopping.....lol.....the baby gear that's around today is just so darn cute in comparison to what my kids had. I just loved shopping for mine when they were on the way.......it's a little harder now as they are big strapping boys! Not sure they'd appreciate what grandma bought for them, they may feel its a little blah!......lol.

No phone call today from the doc so I'm thinking all is good.

Back to my crocheting........that train is slowly growing......now that's a good thing.

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

The hand is ok but really painful for him, a small area where the stitches, where the doc apparently had a thought about  whether he should put a stitch, is  a little weepy, i am thinking  he should get it get it checked by reg doc, trouble you can't leave it un- covered. it is too sore to to leave it exposed, he is always using his hands, and an animal could jump all over it and that would send him into orbit, the dog jumped over him before and the touching on the top of arm was enough to bring tears to his eyes, went thru him like a jolt. it is more like a tear to his hand and is half an inch deep. it is not red or hot, so an infection is  not present at this time. thanks Chrissy

    Hello all

Midnight - I'm fine, thanks for asking, just busy juggling work, business and the kitchen fit out at the moment.

Well - the kitchen is in!  Still has to have the dishwasher put in and the electrical and plumbing done - that's being done today.  It will take a couple of weeks for the plasterer and tiler to come back and put the finishing touches on, but I'll take a picture tonight or tomorrow to show you all the "half" finished product lol.  It looks amazing, I'm so happy with it.

Midnight - you poor thing you and your DH are going through a pretty rough patch at the moment, but I'm amazed by your resilience.  I think coming on here and venting helps - we all listen and we all send you (((hugs))) - we all know how that doesn't fix anything, but it helps knowing there are others out there who listen and care for you xoxo

Chrissy - still keeping everything crossed for you - and I agree no news so far is good news.  I know how frustrating the waiting can be though.

Jenn - wow, just as well you are there now.  Hopefully your work won't be all undone when you leave though.  We had something similar with my FIL - he was on his own, and OMG the mess when we went up there.  We'd clean everything up and as soon as we left he'd undo it all.  Not much you can do about it - especially when they live so far away.

Hello Stressmagnet and Delvzy - nice to hear from you both - please keep us updated with how you are doing.

Now I need to vent (a bit) you know the wedding that you all voted for?  Well the bride rang me last night and told me she wasn't happy with the images!!?? WTF???  She says there isn't one image (in the over 600 that we sent her) that she could use to print, and not enough images to make a wedding album with.  I knew she had turned into a Bridezilla before the wedding, but seriously?!  I thought the images were pretty good.  Sometimes you have to wonder about people.

Ok - better go and get some work done, have a great day all you lovely ladies!

    Trish

    xoxo

Great to see a picture of you both :-)  And what a lovely garden you have Aly!

Just saw this and wanted to share with you all:http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health-fitness/australian-discovery-could-halt-breast-cancer-relapse/story-fneuzlbd-1226683457305

It's a newstory about a new discovery by Australian Scientists.  Here's the article:

A MEDICAL breakthrough is providing new hope for women whose breast cancer has become resistant to treatment.

Scientists believe they have identified a way of telling when to give patients whose cancer is becoming resistant additional chemotherapy so they can kill off tumour cells early.

They are developing a blood test that can determine when a gene that keeps cells alive is silenced, making cells more vulnerable to chemotherapy.

The research on the BCL-2 gene is likely to help the 70 per cent of breast cancer patients who have oestrogen receptor positive cancer.

Most of these patients respond well to anti-oestrogen treatments but within 15 years half of them will relapse and die from the disease.

Sydney’s Garvan Institute has discovered that the BCL-2 gene is silenced in the tumours that develop resistance to anti-oestrogen treatments like tamoxifen.

They believe this process is detectable in blood, according to new research published in the journal Molecular Cancer Therapies.

When this gene is silenced patients with oestrogen positive breast cancer would benefit from combination therapy where tamoxifen is used in combination with chemotherapy to kill the cancer, they say.

And they say the discovery could be put into practice quickly.

''Excitingly, this is something that could be implemented into clinical practice very quickly since the technology now exists to profile methylation of BCL-2 in all patients – both oestrogen responsive and oestrogen resistant patients,” Garvan Institute’s Professor Susan Clarke said.

“If such a test were to be implemented, we believe it could help patients much earlier – hopefully shutting down tumours at an early stage.”

The next step is to test the findings in a clinical study.

Trish can't wait to see those pics!  As for the Bridezilla, I think they get a certain thing in their heads and if it they don't 'see'  what they imagined it's not right.  I thought the pics you took were great!  I wonder if its a way of trying to get out of paying you? Brat!

That new test sounds like a really good thing......hope it can be utilised sooner rather than later.

Aly and Jenn......now what can I say when the two of you just look fabulous!!!  Those blueberry pancake didn't sound too bad either......lol.....glad you enjoyed your breakfast!

Aly your garden is lovely!  I can speak from first hand knowledge on that one and you definitely have colour even in the dead of winter!

Still no phone call so I'm really thinking now that there is no problem so am not going to worry or thin k about it anymore until me appointment on the 8th of next month.  Yay!

Another cold dreary day and I really could have stayed snuggled up in my warm bed and stayed there.....lol......unfortunately, there was the washing, the dishes the cat and the dog all waiting for me to get up and sort them out......ho hum.....the almond blossoms are getting fat and will be bursting in just a few weeks, a definite sign that spring is not far away!

    Love n hugs all!   Chrissy

Trish, she sounds like a monster. Isn't that sad for her that she has chosen to not enjoy what should have been a magical day. Your photos were lovely, she obviously isn't.

This week is one year since I finished active treatment. I can't believe how quickly it has gone - and I get to celebrate by getting a zoladex implant in my abdomen yay. It is such a topsy-turvy process and I continually thank you all for your support. x

Thanks Chrissy. I get the GP to give me the implant, don't bother with a local anymore, I figure one needle is enough, it feels gross though as you can see and feel it under the skin errk.

Zoladex is crap on the bones as it shuts the ovaries down and adds to the Arimidex effect. I had dexa scans and am taking D and calcium and trying to exercise so hopefully they wont deteriorate too much. My bones in my feet started to crunch together when I got up which was not nice so I am really trying to keep moving as much as possible. That was a major reason I didn't want a sedentary job, the less I move - the less I can move. I turn 46 this week and my 80 yo dad is more sprightly than I am.

Oh sorry Kylie got my meds mixed up.........I sure hope your bones stay strong. I take magnesium as well as the Vit D and Calcium.......the three work together to help keep the bones strong. I've been on a AI since 2009 and my last DEXA still has me at osteopenic with just a small drop so hopefully yours will do the same thing.

I hear you on the creaking when you move although I don't do it as much since changing from .Arimadex to Femara.......and in some ways, I'm getting my spritely back.......lol. Keep on moving!

    Hi Aussie sisters!

I can't remember if I've posted here before or not- but regularly read.

    (that sounds stalker ish , but it's not I promise! :) )

I had to jump in because Kylie, like you I'm having zoladex- have done for 2 yrs now. I find if you put Emla cream on the spot & cover it with a clear occlusive dressing 1/2-3/4 hr before the jab it really helps.

You can get Emla from chemists without prescription in nz (numbing cream, not cheap $25 for a little tube but you only need a tiny bit).

I hear you on the bones, I'm having my 2nd Dexa on the 7th so we'll see what's been happening...

I love your photos too Trisha, she does sound like a bridezilla!

Anyway, that's it for now. Cheers, ladies :)

Sorry - the pics aren't the best, taken with my phone and it isn't image stabalised! lol

Chrissy - I'm with you - the longer you go without hearing anything has gotta be good news.

Kylie - that one year has flown!  Wow, one down 50 to go lol.  I agree with kt - that emla cream is magic.  I used it for my port when getting chemo and then herceptin.  I would put it on about 3 hours before though - and never felt a thing.

Kt - nice to hear from you - you stalker you lol, please join in more often, it's nice to hear from everyone xoxo

I spoke to the bridezilla's father yesterday - he's a friend of mine.  It seems she is focussed on putting a wedding album together, and had in her mind that she wanted certain shots to be the centrepiece. The problem is she didn't tell us that she wanted certain shots.  I guess professional photographers just have to add mind reading to their list of skills.  Hmmm... think I already have that skill honed to DH's but not clients, will have to work on that.

Now that I understand that, I can help her.  Some of the shots are there, just need to be worked on to get rid of what she doesn't want in them.  I haven't emailed her back yet, as I still need to calm down a bit.  Writing an email while you are angry is never a good thing, and to a client would be a mistake.  Don't worry - we have our money - all fees are paid prior to the wedding - we aren't silly lol!

Well I work for half a day today and then am off till Tuesday - taking the time to unpack the last of the boxes and get the kitchen set up.  I didn't want to rush it over a weekend, so am taking some time for myself and doing it slowly.  Looking forward to it.

    Have a great day girls!

    Trish

    Love the kitchen, Trish!

Good on you for doing it right away.

It took us 6 years after we moved into ours to finally do it, and we wondered why we hadn't done it sooner :) - (only just had the splashback put up mind you-1 year later!)

    Thanks for the welcome...

I just looked up Emla details, since one of the nurses told me the effects would wear off after an hour- but she was wrong! It takes at least an hour to be fully effective and max effectiveness is about 2 hours!

So I'm glad you mentioned what you used to do- I will apply mine earlier and have even less sensation!

Just goes to show you should always do your own research about stuff- and of course check things out with thw wonderful ladies here, who have been there done that  :)

    Hi Kt, welcome aboard.

Trish, lovely kitchen, will be such a joy to work, when all finished, alot of good cooking to be done there, you can see that. Yes that is a good idea, re wedding pics, to wait til you calm before you respond any further. lol, i added to her face book, just another person looking at the photos, and spoke,on  the photographer who took these needs a gold medal, i also commented the beautiful colours and wedding party in general, so she would not catch on i was connected to you, but putting your photos in the lime light, hopefully she would read  it and think, she is being very unfair. it may not help your cause, but you never know.
