Jezza! Great to see you again. You are an inspiration to us all - 22 years!
Chrissy - have fun at your lunch, but it might be nice to be dressed dear lol. Not nice of your other half to give you his bug though, but that's part of what marriage is about - sharing sigh...
We are having our Melbourne Cup lunch at work, as we do each year. It's actually quite a fun day, with lunch starting at 1 and then goes until around 3.30. Not a lot of work gets done, what with setting up lunch and organising sweeps lol.
Take care lovely ladies

Well as you all probably know Melbourne just about closes down for the cup. Not only is it a public holiday but more and more people take the Monday off as well making it a 4 day weekend. My work decided a couple of years ago to close for the Monday as well...I'm not complaining!
Yes Chrissy threads do go through a lull...people move on when they're doing well or stop coming on when they read things that upset them...very understandable. Its the same on bcaus...our Aussie forum. We do meet up quite regularly and I read here that some of you are meeting up again. That is so special.
There is a terrible cold/flu/virus thing going around Melb. that lasts for weeks and weeks..DH has had it for about 8 weeks.....just as he thinks it's getting better it freshens up again. He has had 3 lots of antibiotics. He seldom gets sick and he is really fed up with it. A couple of guys at work have the same thing...hmmm...only guys?...lol..we won't mention man flu. (joking...I will probably get it now for punishment!)
Enjoy your cup celebrations!

Here's hoping your day went as well as mine did. Now to recover and boy am I tired!! One good thing, I will certainly sleep well tonight!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Hi all
I have my surgery tomorrow, I have to be at the hospital at 6.45am !!! They said that I'm first on the list so hopefully with no delays I should be home just after lunch. As it's only minor surgery the recovery should be between 2-4 hours.
Hi Jezza, nice to see you on here.
Carol

Chtissy, i have flu for last week and have given it to my beloved. i have a wretched cough that wears me out now and hubby is quite congested, i hope that i will be able to meet you all, it may come down to finance as well, but i am planning to be there, so keep your fingers crossed. I will have to rely on money from BIL and if he lets me down, i shall never forgive him as he has known of this weekend for awhile. But hubby is doing his best to make sure i get there. even for a day and he brings me up for the luncheon on the saturday. i will be incredibly disapointed if i dont make it.to anything.
I had this dream last night, that we were on the weekend and we had to climb this high building to get to where we needed to go and i could not do it, i would start and then climb down again and chrissy and the other climbed it like it was an every day occurance and chrissy kept letting go and wave me to come on up and i keept waving back, i cant, i cant, you were giving me the woolies with your bravery Chrissy., i woke up quite disorientated and wondering where i was, lucky i was in bed. lol.

Annette if I can help to get you there just let me know as I would really love to see you.
That dream was a real doozie......lol......climbing, I must admit, is not my forte......lol......climbing more than half a dozen stairs does me in so climbing the side of a building?.....well, what can I say.........thank goodness it was a dream!!
Carol, thinking of you and hoping all is well.

hi all
Its just over two weeks since I had my operation and im feeling mostly ok. still have to take panadol during the day for pain and panadene forte at night. The tighteness of the expander is the hardest to deal with still but that may get better with time hopefully.
First fill is later this month. have had lots of support from family and friends so thats been good. When i have the exchange and recon on the left side that will be a much bigger operation but that wont be until early next year. Mentally im adjusting slowly but ive been told it will look more like a breast after i start the fills.
Hope everyone else is doing ok
0 -
Melp The true breast shape wont fully appear until you have your exchange but as the volume of the expander grows you will see the breast shape start to appear.
Yes, getting your head around all of this journey is pretty tough at times but with the help of good supporters you will get through.
Hope you get a little more used to the tightness.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Hi allMy surgery went well, there were no delays so I had the surgery at 8am. Next thing I remember it was 9.30, I felt a bit sick but didn't throw up. Later I had a coffee and biscuit then when I said I had to go to the toilet the Nurse said if I felt all right I could get changed and go home. So I got home about lunchtime and just felt tired and just laid down the rest of the day.
I go back in 6 weeks for the pathology, if they had found anything serious I would be going back sooner. I went to the shops today so have recovered well.
Annette sorry to hear that your sick, I'm not coming to NZ but wish that I could. Hope you get to see everyone.
Melp, the expander feels funny especially when they do the fills but believe me it's worth it in the end.

Chrissy, it looks like bro in law is keeping money aside for me to come up and meet you all, he thinks its a good thing that i go, whew, thanks for your kindness to me and i want to see you and everybody as well.it will be a good weekend. I was starting to get nervous that the penneys were not going to be forth coming from him, i am still not holding my breath, actions speak louder than words to me. am keeping the faith and believing. I AM NOT VERY TRUSTING OF HIM, he has let me down before though over other things, so just a little weary. i just so want to be there.
Thankyou Carol. i hope everything is good with you today and you have got over op ok.
hello to all other girls and hope you all ok. XXXX

Morning girls
How is everyone going? Hopefully you are all busy and healthy and happy.
Everything is going well here, my IBS is starting to settle down I think. The probiotic I took a little while ago seems to have helped. It hasn't cured it, I had some visitors on the weekend who brought pastries with them. I ate half a very small lemon meringue tart and was pretty sick a couple of hours afterward, but that hasn't happened for a long time.
The pet photography business is really starting to take off - we are doing Santa photos with pets, and with Christmas coming up we are starting to get booked out, which is great

Trish Boo! on not even being able to enjoy a taste of lemon meringue! Good to hear that the IBS has settled a lot for you but wish it would really settle.
Yay on the pet photography taking off for you.......an extra few pennies in your pocket is always a good thing! Here's hoping it keeps growing throughout next year as well.
Had my sleep test done on Monday night, and I really don;t know why they call it a 'sleep' test as there was not much of that going on that's for sure! I would have to say it was the most uncomfortable non sleep I've ever had. I'm just glad it is done and dusted but I don't get the results until I see my GP on the 4th December, when I get back from Auckland. I'm really hoping that I don't need a c-pat machine as I am a little claustrophobic and that thing on my face would be the end of me!
I have three birthdays in the next week, starting today with SIL Jason. Oldest GS on the 14th and his brother on the 18th so come 23rd we are having a huge luncheon to celebrate all birthdays, DD's national wins with her body building and a bon voyage for me.......phew, roll on the new year so I can start to relax!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Trish, Christmas pet photos seem to be the big thing this year....you are so on trend!!
Chrissy, enjoy the birthdays!!
Alyson, I send you a PM re flights.
Have a great night ladies!

Chrissy - sorry to hear about your sleep test, hopefully the results won't be as bad as you fear - hope you enjoy the birthdays
I've been off the air for a while. There's a nasty tummy bug going round, and both DH and I came down with it. I'm feeling a lot better at the moment, but still not able to eat very much. Thank goodness it was the end of last week and the weekend, I have to go to Wollongong for a photography gig on Friday - would have been very upset if I missed that - it's a chance for me to catch up with my BFF and a few other friends while I'm there.
I'm blaming DH for the bug - no-one at work has it (yet) although there's lots of people in Canberra and Wollongong (from what I hear) that have come down with it. Isn't that what DHs are for? To blame? lol

hi girls I have been reading along from time to time it's great to see how well every one is doing. I have been busy working trying to keep fit and being a bit gentle with myself . I was running a lot and getting really fit but not sleeping very well (left meletonin at a friends in melb) so I fell in a bit of a hole. I have been eating alot of sweet stuff to keep my energy up and feeling yuk. Any way onwards and upwards. Everyone always seems so upbeat and positive which is great I am glad u are all doing so well. Trish a lot of people in Bendigo has had gastro as well and my family in Barwon heads also had it so it must be Australia wide!! Carol what was your path report?
0 -
Delvzy, lovely to hear from you! Take care of yourself.
0 -
Oh dang Trish!! Sorry to hear that you have had gastro, that's the last thing you need with your iffy gut.......grrr on whom ever gave it to you......lol......even if it was your DH. Hope your trip over to the Gong is a good one and you are feeling okay.....nothing like catching up with friends that go waaaaay back! Have fun and a safe trip.
Delvzy don't be pushing your self too hard if you aren't sleeping well, but good on you for trying to get fitter.......I think we can all (particularly speaking of myself here) get a little fitter.....lol. I hear you on eating everything sweet, I made a sultana cake last night and between hubby and myself we have almost polished it off! Just as well I bake very rarely because we can't help ourselves.......lol. Take it easy girl and hopefully the sleep thing will improve.
Tammy, can't wait to see you again in Auckland! Not long now! I am almost packed as I leave on Monday to spend a few days with Aly before the get together......very excited here!!!!!.......lol.
Take it easy all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Hi allDelvzy I don't go back to the hospital until 22nd December, but they told me to go to my GP after 2 weeks, I'm not sure why so I might try and make an appointment tomorrow, maybe he might get the results from the hospital.
I started work at 3am this morning so am now feeling tired !!!!

Delvzy - can you get some more melatonin? I get mine from Biovea (just in case you are getting yours on script), it doesn't take too long to come though. As Chrissy says - don't be too hard on yourself, when you aren't sleeping properly it's hard to keep everything else going well, sleep is sooo important. ((((hugs))))
I'm back to normal now - yes I did think the virus was pretty well widespread.
Chrissy - enjoy yourself! I sooo wish I was going too, I'll be there in spirit though - give Aly a big hug when you see her please?
Carol I know you'll keep us informed of your results (((hugs)))

Hi Trisha yes I have re-ordered my script I get mine from creative medicine in Port Melb. Gosh it does make a difference to your sleeping! What dose do u take? Apparently it helps with BC by stopping the cells or something like that! Thanks girls for being so welcoming hopefully I can get to meet u all one day !

hi everyone
just wanted to update you all. I'm feeling better than I was when i last posted. The pain is much better now despite the tightness which is still hanging around. Good thing is im getting my first fill next week!! some ladies have handled it well some have had pain for a few days after. guess ill find out which group im in after thursday.
I was driving again about three and half weeks after surgery so thats pretty good. Think the fact i was reasonably fit before has helped my body recover alot.

Delvzy - it's very expensive on script - if you go to the Biovea site: http://www.biovea.com/au/results.aspx?KW=Melatonin
it's much cheaper. I get 100 5mg tablets for $26.20. You can get anything from 3mg up to 10mg. Check them out, I think all us Aussie girls who use melatonin get it from the Biovea site.
Mel - Yay for less pain. I seem to remember the tightness hanging around for quite a while. It's all getting fuzzy now lol.

thx for that trish. Is it as powerful as the liquid form compounded
0 -
Hi allI went to my GP today, the pathology from my surgery says that there are no cancer cells. I still have to go to the hospital on 22 December to get the full pathology and to see what happens next.
Melp my fills were pretty easy luckily just some tightness and I had them every week as I could cope with that, the nurse said that others had fills every fortnight.
Carol

Carol - great news! Yay!
Delvzy - I didn't realise there was a liquid form. I do know you can take up to 20mg of Melatonin a day, 3mg isn't enough for me, I usually take two 5mg tabs, and sleep fairly well.
Quite a few of the ladies on here only take 3mg and that works well for them. I think it's a "suck it and see" for each person. I do know that the last time I got Melatonin on script it wasn't covered by PBS and it cost me quite a bit for 20 tabs. The biovea ones work just as well and are pretty cheap.
