Hi girls!  I was busy on the weekend in the cotu watching my beautiful daughter compete in her body building comp, the first of the season.  She is a winner!!!   She won the Masters (she is 41) and got runner up in the Open so guess who is a proud mama right now?......lol. This is a shot of the winner (she is not normally this dark, she has really dark tanning on for the stage lights and to help show the definition of the muscles).

    image

She had a photo shoot after the comp and these are just a couple of what was taken.

    image

It's hard to believe she is 41!

Yay Aly!  So glad you are having a great time here in Aus!  I can't wait till November comes, I am so looking forward to seeing you again!  Enjoy the rest of your stay!!

    Love n hugs all!   Chrissy

Aly - no problem - kind of like when we came over to NZ last December - family things made it hard to do anything else.

Aly - I know Gulgong - my FIL used to live near Mudgee and we'd visit Gulgong when we were up there! Enjoy the rest of your time in Oz.

Chrissy - wow! She's got some serious muscles there. No wonder you are proud. She's gorgeous.

All's well here. Not much new to report really, which is a good thing Happy

hi all had my MRI on right breast Thursday. It went ok and then yesterday i got called back for an ultrasound! They said its a routine thing they do with some patients. Turns out i had to see a doctor before i went for the scan and she told me they found an area of concern on the mri.. I wasn't told this on the phone.. I started freaking out as you can imagine. So did the ultrasound and then they said they needed to do a core biopsy as well. I was freaking out even more then!! After they cleaned all the goo off and dressed the site i was allowed to get dressed again and go home. I have an appointment next Thursday to get the results of the MRI and also what the biopsy found. My only saving grace is if they thought it was urgent i think they would not have made me wait until Thursday. I had an ok sleep last night but i did take something to help me sleep. Im still scared but praying its just a cyst or something because i don't want my reconstruction to be delayed any more than December...

Wishing you all the melp, I recently had an U/S and a core biopsy too, it's terribly scary. Mine was a cyst and scar tissue.  I wish you all the best!

Chrissy, your Daughter looks fabulous! It must take an enormous amount of dedication. How long has she been competing?  How I wish I could be a fraction as sculpted as she is!

Melp, if they find something that needs to be removed you could always ask that the recon be done at the same time.......but I'm hoping that they are just being over cautious.  Good luck for Thursday and do let us know the results.

Moira, she is a personal trainer so is constantly training but to prepare for competition it is twenty weeks of hard graft and a very strict diet as they go to competition carrying less that 3% body fat.......they call it being ripped and you can see every muscle string when they flex.  The more ripped they are the better they do in comp but there are other criteria that they are judged by as well, not the muscle development.  She competed for the first time eleven years ago and did it again the following year but it has been ten years since then until now.  It's hard to believe that she is 41 as even when she isn't all tanned up her skin is really lovely.

Well after a week of cold weather it has decided to turn in to summer!  Yes, today was a really warm 29 degrees!  Unbelievable! It looks like we are building for the week long 'heat wave' of late spring.  It usually happens in October that we get a week of really hot weather, like mid to high 30's and on occasion it has even reached 40+ and then drops down to low to mid 20's.  We usually grumble and look forward to the lower temps and joke about Mother Nature just giving us a taste of what is to come through summer......lol.

Hope your weekend has been a good one so far all!

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy

    Hi all

Melp they did all that on my right breast before I had my surgery as they thought I had cancer there too. It was what the Doctor's call a dense breast, it looks suspicious but just normal in lots of women. Best of luck with your results.

Chrissy last Saturday we had 32 degrees and today we had about 20 with strong wind and rain !!!

It's a long weekend over here as the Royal Show has started and we have the Queen's birthday on Monday, since I work every Saturday and tomorrow as well this week and my normal day off is Monday, big deal for me lol.

Hi Aussie, yes it looks like summer is trying to make headway into spring when spring hasn't fully sprung.......lol.  I'm sure the ups and downs will soon even out and we will be wishing for the ups and downs again.

Don't you just hate when there is a long weekend and you don't get the benefit coz you have to work?  I did that so many time when I was working and really hated the fact that I missed out on family time.  Good that you are earning the dollars though.

Have a great week all!   Love n hugs,    Chrissy

    Things have changed a lot.

Today they gave us the results of it and it's a low grade dcis tumor(which is not the same as my other one) Its contained so no chemo or radiation..surgery will fix it. But seeing as the new diagnosis the whole process will be moved forward. Basically they will do a masectomy and insert the tissue expander in the right. After the expansions are done which may take a month of so they will wait for it to settle down and then they will exchange the expander to a breast implant at the same time do the original lat dorsi recon on the left with another expander unit. The first part will be done earlier because of the new diagnosis on October 20th!

So it still was a shock but it could have been worse.

I'm Hi everyone, sorry to read your news Annette and Mel (((hugs)))

I'm coming up to my 2 years since diagnosis and getting a little nervous which is premature since I'm not scheduled for another mammo until January!

I'm in Fiji for DH's nephew's wedding.  They had planned the ceremony on the beach but the beach is closed due a huge swell and the venue is now a beautiful chapel.  We can't plan what happens in life but we can just try to make the most of the situation....anyway, enough from me....I hope I don't cry at the wedding...I didn't bring my waterproof mascara Happy

Annette - so sorry you haven't found Snoopy yet, hopefully you will soon. Hope your mum is feeling better soon.

I saw something on the news last night about another cancer cure (I know .. ! how many times do we hear this?). I googled it this morning, and for those that are interested - it may be something to watch. They've been using it successfully on animals for a while now, and are getting ready for human clinical trials. If successful - it could affect the outcome for bc!

    Here's the link: http://www.qbiotics.com/index.php/human-pipeline/ebc-46-a-humans

Lets keep our fingers crossed it has some good outcomes.

So glad your knee is going well - yes, most people say it's the best thing they ever did.

My DH may need a hip replacement, he keeps saying he wants to leave it as long as possible as they don't last forever. He turns 72 this year - I keep saying to him how long do you think you are going to live for! Over 100?? Well, maybe he will, but maybe he wont. I'd rather be pain free earlier and enjoy it while I could than wait years for it, and then maybe only getting a short time out of it lol.

We all hate having mammos - I'm actually not having one this time, but having an MRI instead. Will still have the same stress before hand though.

I don't know if I'll be able to have MRI's now - you can't wear any metal - does my knee count Nerdy They're too expensive now - I've stopped having them.

Trish - tell your DH to get it done - hips are much less painful than knees and they do last forever these days. I was waiting until I was old enough and after talking to the surgeon it appears that you don't have to worry about it wearing out anymore - the advances of science.

Yes - I thought they lasted a lot longer now than they did in the past. I think he's just chicken.

MRIs are pretty expensive now - but I get mine done on a new machine (I was the breast guinea pig lol for the machine when they started it up), I get an oncology discount and it will cost me $300. Still pretty expensive, but I still worry about the ILC coming back and it not being seen on a mammo.

I'm not sure about the metal in your knee - interesting question. My dog groomer went in to have an MRI a month or so ago and couldn't have it as he has shrapnel in his leg!!

Home before 12 - all good. It was rather quick today only 2 hours. Only cost $538 - I will only get back 164 but it's worth it. The Wesley Breast Clinic is SO good.

So they told you all was good, nothing suspicious found? Yay!

But - wow! $538!! It costs me nothing to get a mammo and ultrasound!

Hi goils!  Sue so glad that all is clear for you but $538?  Was that just a plain mammo?  Mine only cost me $90............I think that those of us who have dx with BC should be given all follow up scans etc for free but I can't see that happening.

Trish I was told that the new hip and knee prosthesis are pretty much guaranteed to last at least 25 years at the minimum so I think if your DH had his hip replaced it would well and truly out last him.  I know the whole thought of the op is so daunting but once done and the healing is well on the way it is an op that is never regretted.

You would be so proud of me and my photo taking!  As you all know I was with my DD last weekend and got about a hundred and fifty perfect shots of her on stage!  I have finally got this camera working for me and I am so chuffed!!!.....lol.  Thank you so much Trish for explaining the trick for me.  I actually got these shots OIS 800 so the noise is pretty low grade but the picture is really clear.  I am now not afraid of using the camera manually, in fact I think I prefer it as I control what I shoot ......yippeeeeee!!!!!!!

I have been so tired since the weekend but hopefully I am beginning to feel normal again.  The weather here is gorgeous!  Lovely sun filled days with clear skies and really chilly desert nights so we can still snuggle under a doona...........the unfortunate thing is, it promises to get hotter and hotter as the weeks pass and pretty soon it will be time for me to start hibernating as I really hate the heat.

Oh Annette, I do hope that someone reports that they have your Snoopy and you get him back.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that happens.  Sorry to hear also that your mum has broken her hip again.......such a painful thing to have happen and I hope she heals well.

Tammy, a wedding in Fiji sounds lovely and the pic of that little dancer is just so cute!  So glad you had a wow of a time.

Mel, glad you have everything in place.......not long now to wait and I wish you all the very best and I hope your healing goes well.

This id my DD on the podium after she was called the winner of that section......she was so is shock that it took a little while for it to sink in.....lol.  Unfortunately just at that moment my camera ran out of memory and the new one wouldn't format so I took this with my little old camera that I took 'just in case' and I'm so glad I did!

    image

It's not the best pic but it just shows her joy!

    Take it easy all!

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy
