Sure will Chrissy, it does flat jerky and a tube one that looks like Twiggy Sticks. A lot of the commercial jerky is made this way. Xx

    Hi all

Since my chemo on Thursday I've had the worst SE's. I've been nauseous, had no energy, tiredness and I have hardly eaten anything. This so far is the worst I've been. I get worse each time.

That was my sixth chemo still six to go.

Carol talk to your onc about a good supply of anti nausea meds! It's so wrong of him/her not to make sure your meds are working for you. The tiredness unfortunately is your body telling you it's having a hard time and needs that rest to try to recover. Hon, just go with it at the moment and take the rest when you need to. If you aren't eating try some Ensure.......at least with that you will get some nutrition while getting some fluid.

I know you don't feel like eating but it's really important that you take in some nutrition.

If things get really bad and it's possible they will, please make sure you tell your onc exactly how you are feeling......it's really important that you do.

Sending warm ((((((hugs)))))) just for you.

Much love n more hugs. Chrissy

No - won't have to look for work on Newstart, the drs cert will make sure of that, so I'm not too unhappy. I really want to go back to work once I'm over treatments, so keeping that in my sights and the light at the end of the tunnel. Not full time, but I'm on the merit list at the Dept of Education and a number of managers there want me to come back, so will try very hard to do that. If I only work part time then my DH will keep part of his pension and the "perks" that go with it, and we can live fairly cheaply and comfortably.

I'm doing ok today, still on anti nausea meds and my dex, so not too bad. But today is the 40th anniversary of my mum's passing and I found myself in tears this morning, so emotions are still very, very much all over the place. Had a good cry, still miss my mum so much, even 40 years later. But not fighting the emotions, just going with the flow.

    Trish

Thanks Chrissy and Tammy. I'm still feeling sick today but had a anti nausea tablet but since I've got no taste I don't even know what I want to eat.

I'm going to see my GP tomorrow to get another Doctor's certificate for centrelink and will get more anti nausea tablets as I have only one left.

I will have to go back to Centrelink on Thursday to get another 3 months of sickness benefits.

Hope everyone had a great Australia Day.

    Carol.

    Hi all

Tammy good news on the mammogram, I should be getting my letter soon from the hospital, mine is in March.

I finally started to feel better yesterday and ate some chicken and salad (KFC) but that's all I felt like. My taste still isn't back properly but not feeling as tired. My upper left leg today was really sore, as though I'd been bitten by something. The pain went away after about an hour or so, I think it was nerve pain, another SE.

I went to Centrelink today and got another 3 months of sickness benefits.

There's a cyclone coming down over the next few days plus we have rain Sat,Sun and Mon, I'm looking forward to the cooler weather and rain.

Good to gear you are feeling better and getting some food into your system.......a little is better than none.

Hope that cyclone just brings cooler weather and some rain and nothing else.......I must check where it is expected as I still have family in Cairns.

Yay for getting another 3 months benefit.......but what a pain to have to keep going there and putting yourself in jeopardy by exposing your weakened immune system in the process. I wonder if they actually realize that that's what you do each time you walk through that door?

Tammy, hugs were welcome Smile and so glad to hear of the clear mammo and u/s. Interesting about the drop in your bone density. Mine is off the scale - really, really high, but had a 9% drop last one, mind you I can probably lose another 30 to 40% before they start to worry.

Carol - you've been in my thoughts too - I'm craving KFC too!! What's with that?? I think I'm actually craving the fat, I'm eating ok, but not a lot and I think our bodies tell us what we need. Glad you got some more sickness benefits too. A cyclone!! Take care!

Lucy - our mums are never far from us are they.

I've finished with AC now yay! Starting the weekly Taxol next week and both Chrissy and my onc have reassured me that I don't need to worry about it too much. Just getting through each day now, one day at a time. Appetite poor, but at least not throwing up. Emotionally wrung out and having more than the occasional meltdown, but that's ok. I'm resting a lot and just doing what my body is telling me to do. I've been a good girl lol.

    My love to you all.

    Trish

Trish - sorry I took a while to get here to answer your question...

I only did Taxol. I had read up about Taxotere and refused to let them use it. Taxol was actually not that bad - except it contributed to me getting pneumonitis.

    luv Jenn

    hi Aussie ladies

Appointment went not as good as I expected. More nodules in the pleura lining than previous scans. There is two liver nodules which makes them suspicious that it's cancer but they aren't certain. Tumours in ovaries are slightly bigger. Bones are effected in several areas sometimes the changes are evidence that treatment is working but sometimes it's the opposite. There is cancer growing into spinal cord from T9.

Should be treated with radio therapy. Will have a MRI to check the spine out more fully and a meeting with radiation oncologist next month. I'm still processing it all but I'm feeling sad and scared..Scared

    Hi Trisha,

My mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer, which by this time had metastasised to the brain, and therefore approached Dr Daniel Tan. She received radiation therapy to the brain as well as pharmacological intervention. Finally, I would like to thank Dr Tan for his extreme dedication: he did more than just treating the illness. He cared about the welfare of my mother, and actively engaged her during consultations. Today my mother heeds Dr Tan's advice more than ours, and we are indeed very blessed to have had him as my mother's doctor.

Bugger!! Definitely not what we hoped to hear.Hang in there Mel, there are still a lot of options open to you abd I'm sure you onc will get something organized for you. Rads will definitely deal with that met on your spine.

Lucy, I go to Mater Imaging in Rocklands to get my tests done. It costs me dearly but I'm hoping for consistency since they know me well now.

Trish, I had a 20% bone density loss....I hope it stabilises now.

My blood test shows high cholesterol. My diet is OK, especially the past few weeks as I shed the Christmas pounds, and I do exercise. I'll have to see what the Dr thinks.....I'm thinking Femara!

    Take care everyone....

Tammy it's the Femara for sure! I had no problem prior to Femara but each lot of bloods that were done showed a small but steady rise until I asked the doc to give me something to stabilize it. I'm on a very low dose Crestor which has and is doing it's job well.

I need to seriously do something about my weight soon as it is again getting out of control .......blah!!! I hate having to be food conscience but it does help to keep my weight at a reasonable level.

Donna, Carol and Trish, how are you three girls doing?

Take it easy all! Love n hugs. Chrissy

    Hi girls

I'm doing ok. Have been resting a lot, and very tired, but not too bad. Today, tomorrow and Wednesday will be my best days before starting Taxol on Thursday. Then I'll have to get used to a whole new set of ses lol. My appetite has been pretty poor, and as a result I've lost a lot of weight (sorry for you girls struggling with putting it on). Mind you, I have a lot to lose lol, so that's one se I'm not complaining about.

My taste hasn't really returned properly yet either, so still struggling a bit with finding things that taste good. I am finding things to eat though, small meals, fresh veggies and I'm craving steak! Your body tells you what it wants.

Donna and Carol - hope you are both going ok?

    Trish

    xoxo

thanks ladies. I have had some good happen I have been wanting to move out of my current unit for a while. Recently I looked at a small house to rent not far from where I live. Had all the things I wanted but I wasn't sure if I would be successful at it. The other day the owner rang me and said its mine if I want it!!

Had another look today and I made a decision that I would take it. Signing the contract tomorrow!!

    Hi all

Trish I have my next chemo on Thursday too, not looking forward to it either. I started to feel better Wednesday but then had a bad migraine yesterday. Like you Trish my taste is still off and I'm not really enjoying much food at all. I did some housework today, the first time in ages, luckily I live alone and the house doesn't get too bad.

I also cut back my rose bushes today, I have been wanting to do more gardening but just haven't had the energy.
