Hi all
Had my chemo yesterday and felt tired and nauseous straight away. I had a different nausea tablet and seemed to feel better and managed to eat something for tea.
I also feel better today than last time but am still tired I just wish that I had my taste back then I could enjoy food more.
There's a bit of hot weather coming here over the next week, not looking forward to that.
Carol

Hi Carol, glad your nausea meds worked a treat as there is nothing worse than feeling sick. Tiredness, as you know, comes with the territory so take it easy and rest when you need.
As long as you are getting nourishment don't worry too much on the taste......it will return.
Sending (((((((hugs))))))) of encouragement.
Love n more hugs. Chrissy

Hi All,
Had a holiday at my Daughters so haven't been on. Thanks for asking after me Lucy55. Was lovely but exhausting. Just over 3 weeks out from my last chemo so I can't expect to be "running marathons". Still having trouble with my eyes and neuropathy in my toes and feet.Get a little "wobbly" at times.
The side effects from the Arimidex are a whole new issue. Constipation is terrible. Muscle, weakness, joint pain, insomnia, hot flushes and my concentration is awful. Can't focus. Basically I feel like a cross between a rag doll and a muddle headed wombat. LOL. Hoping some of these issues resolve with time. Was taking it in the morning but have just swapped to evening to see if that helps.
Carol try and stay cool. Know the heat really bothered me during chemo. Had the air con going almost 24/7. Was dreading the power bill but got it yesterday and it was less than the previous one.
Trish how are you going?
Going to make some jam over the weekend. My daughter has an orchard and I brought heaps of fruit home with me. Made some last year and it turned out great.
Thinking of everyone and sending hugs. Donna.

Donna, if the SE's from Arimadex don't ease off a bit with time ask your doc to change you to either Femara or Aromasin. They are all AI's so fi essentially the same thing but may be easier on the SE's. Arimadex treated me cruelly, much like it is you but I got changed to Femara and have very few SE and none that are too bothersome. Take it easy as it's going to take some time for that fatigue to lift.
What sort of jam are you going to make? I picked some green apples from the side of the road the other day and am going to do apple butter in the slow cooker. Hope it turns out as it looks quite delish in the recipe.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Hello girls
Had my first taxol on Thursday and I've been pleasantly surprised. I sucked on ice during the taxol infusion and so far my taste change has been minimal. It's actually a bit better than it has been as it never really got back to normal while on the AC.
Thursday night I went to sleep at around 9 but was wide awake at 1.30am lol. So it was a very long day yesterday, but I had heaps of energy in the morning. Today's been ok, but getting bone pain and really tired. The steroids have worn off lol. Diarrhea has been my almost constant companion so far, but it hasn't been as bad as on the AC. Hopefully this will be as bad as it gets.
Carol - I feel for you, the taste change is horrible to cope with - although nausea is worse. What chemo are you doing again? If it's one of the taxanes - then sucking on ice really does seem to help.
Donna - arimidex was horrible for me. I found aromasin easier for a couple of years, and now I'm on femara, and tolerating it fairly well.
Love to you all
Trish

Hi all
Trish my chemo is FOLFOX and luckily my nausea has gone but my taste still isn't good. Unfortunetly I can't suck on ice because I can't drink or eat anything cold until normally a few days before my next chemo. In this hot weather it's a pain. Once my chemo is over and I'm back to normal I'm going to have a huge glass of soft drink with ice and a whole tub of ice cream !!!! This is the first summer ever that I haven't had ice cream.
I haven't got diarrhea yet but I will probably get it Tuesday or Wednesday like normal.

Trish, fingers crossed for your follow on taxol treatments....
Donna, I started with Tamoxifen and had terrible sweats, I then changed to Femara and had achy joints and some sleep disturbance at first but it has settled over time and I find that long walks and exercise really help.
Carol, enjoy your ice cream post treatment, you deserve it!

Just popping in to say that I "passed" my scans for yet another year :-) No sign of any cancer (so far). I also withdrew from the research study that I was still on - after 3+ years of visiting the oncologist every three months I was just over it, plus I was pretty sure that I was getting the drug (Denosumab) on the trial because of the side effects. I'm over side-effects. I just want to live my life again...
Love to all, Jenn

Jenn, great news - enjoy everything!
I had my second taxol yesterday and all went well. Till last night and the diarrhea started big time. I thought I'd get at least one day D free. Imodium helped though, but my poor backside is sooooo sore. Bepanthon is my best friend, and helps. Felt pretty nauseous too, but that was from the D I think, and still have anti-nausea meds so they helped. Of course the huge dose of Dex I got meant little sleep last night, but at least it was 2.30am this morning - and hour longer than the 1.30am the first taxol lol.
Got my grocery shopping done this morning while the dex was still working.
I got a phone call from my BFF Jacqui from Wollongong after I got home, and was chatting to her, when she said to me, well put the kettle on, I'm pulling up outside! The. Best. Present. Ever. What a lovely surprise. She drove for over 3 hours to spend a couple with me before having to drive home to babysit her grandson. What a friend.
Talking about lovely friends, Chrissy is coming to stay with me for a week! Isn't that wonderful!!?? She's going to play "mum" for a week with me and arrives tomorrow week. I'm so blessed with the lovely people who I'm privileged to call my friends.
Donna and Carol - how are you going?

That's so lovely for you Trish and I hope the nausea and big D subside soon.
I'm not feeling too bad. Still dealing with SE from the Arimidex. Off to Tamworth next week to see the Dr so will talk to him about them. It's early days yet and know I probably should give it some time. I did sleep better last night.
Going to be hot here - 39. Blah. Have a good weekend everyone and Trish, you relax and take all that "mothering" from Chrissy. Hugs xx

Donna, the heat won't help 😞 I hope the visit to the Dr goes well!
I went to the Dr this week and my cholesterol was 5.6 so no plan other than monitoring at this stage. My weight was creeping up and I put on even more over Christmas. I've been back to Weight Watchers for the past month and lost nearly 4kg so getting back on track. Hopefully my follow-up blood test shows improvement as my liver enzymes were also a little high.

Bugger!
Went in for my third taxol today, and had my port accessed, pre-meds delivered (including a big dose of dex) and then they noticed that on my blood test my liver function was off the scale. GGT should be between 9-56 and was 729 and ALT should be between 9-33 and is 119. Dr called and taxol cancelled. I'm bummed out. Have to have an u/s of liver and gall bladder tomorrow, another blood test on Monday morning and see the onc on Monday too.
My liver is very tender and I've been having issues with pain and nausea after taking anti-biotics earlier in the week. Yesterday I had pain on my way home from the blood test in the area of my liver, so i guess now I know why.
I'm annoyed that I got a big dose of dex that I didn't need as I couldn't have chemo, and I'm worried that my liver and/or gall bladder have been damaged. I know the liver is an amazing organ and can repair itself, but the ggt was off the scale.
Ok - rant over. I'll destress and have a cuppa and see what the u/s shows tomorrow.
Trish

Hi all
That's not good news Trish, hopefully it will get sorted next week.
I had my 8th chemo today, I'm feeling tired but managed to eat (KFC) again. That's about all I can eat after chemo. I'm getting a CT scan on Tuesday just to check if everything is ok, I haven't had a CT since August.
I had a busy day yesterday first had my blood test which is 30 minute drive their and back, then morning tea with 2 friends then food shopping. Then later went to Mum and Dad's for tea as my brother is still over from Queensland so caught up with him again. I have no energy for about 4 days now so have to get things done before then.

Hello Girls
Chrissy is here with me and spoiling me rotten lol. She's being Mum, and it's been wonderful.
U/S showed I have diffuse fatty infiltration of my liver. We know that this isn't caused by alcohol (lol) I haven't had a drink in over 5 years. All my other organs look pretty good. I had a blood test this morning and saw the onc today. My liver numbers have come down a fair bit, which is good. I have to have another one before chemo on Thursday. but the onc says chemo can go ahead on Thursday. He's fairly certain that the problem was caused by the very strong antibiotics I was on last week. We'll be keeping a close eye on my liver for the rest of chemo though.
So although the beginnings of fatty liver aren't wonderful, it's not the end of the world, and so long as those numbers keep going down, my liver will repair itself eventually (I hope) and the main thing is that chemo is a go. Not that I'm looking forward to or want to do chemo, but with triple negative, it's the only thing in my arsenal.
Chrissy is busy cooking dinner as I write this and it's smelling delish!
Love to you all
Trish

Hi Trish, I don't post much these days but I do read and am so happy that Chrissy is looking after you and that the liver is beginning to behave and heal.
All the best Lola xx

So lovely that Chrissy is "mothering" you Trish. Make the most of it. Sure your dinner was as delicious as it was smelling.
Got the ok last week to get back to my house renovations so I did a little painting yesterday. Hubby is having some time off work so he's keeping a close eye on me. Making sure I don't overdo it.
Dealing with some crappy SE from the Arimidex. Don't see the Oncologist again until May. Hope I can last that long. Sigh.
Time I had some brekkie and get stuck into the painting. Have a great Tuesday all. Hugs Donna. xx

Goodluck with your painting Donna but remember not to over do it in your enthusiasm! If after a time the SE from the Arimadex don't settle or get worse, you can always ask to be changed to one of the other AI's.
I am having a lovely time with Trish and her husband. Us two girls are presently sitting, feet up enjoying a cuppa after a busy morning.
Carol how are you doing?
Lola, how are you doing as well? Hope you are well and just getting on with life.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy
