OMG, HOW do you look your in-laws in the eyes without thinking "YOU FILTHY PIGS!!!!!" ???

Chabba...Makes my head hurt just to think about that...and ditto to Barbe's comment!
I would love to post photots of some of my jewelry but I can't figure out how to post pictures here. Anyone want to clue me in? I am actually having a website built that will be live by Dec 1 - the first day of a show my stuff is traveling (without me) to. Excited but nervous - still have so much to do, and so little time/energy to do it!

Blue, once your website is up and running it will be very easy to post. I go to my website, highlight a pic and when it opens in it's own window, I copy the "image URL" and paste it into the corresponding box that oppens when you click on the little tree in the toolbar just above the post a reply box. Click insert and it's done. Different browswers work diferently and some you can just click copy on the picture and paste into the body of the post a reply.

I am posting pictures from my facebook photo album, it took me awhile to figure out how to do it but it isn't hard.
My church bazaar is Saturday. I will take more pictures of my pocketbooks and post them.

Thanks Chrissy! This is what I do when I'm not complaining about my family Can you resize photos right on this site, or would I have to do that on facebook? I am not so good at figuring out this kind of thing...

Blue, I love your use of the natural stone and the colors! I have done some beading and I have all the supplies but I have so many other projects going at one time very little gets completed....lol....guess I have to get myself a bit more organised and put all the unfinished things togather and make myself do them before I start of anything else.

Chrissy, thank you...the Elk is actually an antique tobacco tag from the late 1800s that I put into that silver/stone setting I made. Even though the "New Me" knows that smoking is EVIL, I am still addicted to collecting tobacco tags and using them in my jewelry!
And yes, you should come back to beading...it is soooo therapeutic! But I know the feeling all too well about having multiple projects going on...
Now I need to go through this whole thread and admire everyone else's stuff...have only looked at a few pages but I am very impressed with the talent! Going off to see if Chrissy has posted any photos...Will be embarassed if I have already seen them and commented on them, but I can use the chemo-brain excuse freely here, right?

Bluecowgirl, to resize, when you are linking the url, change the dimensions before clicking on the 'insert' button. I usually try to change the two measurements approx the same amount (example: from 900x700 to 500x300). I just figured that out a couple of weeks ago.

I bought the software for my sewing machine embroidery unit today. I don't beleive I did it! I did though. Hm now to learn to use it. I am trying to use my brain to overcome th9is awful slugishness and memory loss from chemo. This softwate will surely help me build some nnnew neural pathways!
Hugs to all

Well Chrissy with the new neural pathways I hope to build by learning something new and difficult my hope it that what I will make is SENSE! Finally after making no sense for so long I look forward to making some freaking sense for a change.
If you were thinking of the sewing machine. I hope to do some things for my DGD whois 15 months old and the light of my life.

Ginger, when I was selling sewing machines, I had to take all the courses. The Husqvarna machines were the hardest and you almost had to be a computer programmer. We all followed the teacher during the class, then she left the room for us to do a design on our own and 15 of us looked at each other and went Doi?
I'm SURE it's much easier these days!!! Have fun! Can you take a picture she drew and put it into a design pattern?

Yes, Barbe I will be able to do that with the 5D software I bought yesterday. I sat through a two hour software class this evening and I understood most all of it. Following the pathways was the most difficult part. I took photoshop at the local junior college for a semester, actually I took it twice because it was so difficult for me to learn. eVEN thought that was about 7 years ago I have retained some of the concepts.
I started sewing in 1957. My machines have been my mothers Singer treadle, an old refurbished singer straight and zig zag machine, a White that cost $700. in 1980. A Viking 500 in the late 80's, a viking # 1 around 1996 or 97. And now in 2011 a Viking Designer Diamond Deluxe. My favorite was the 500 and my DD has it now.
The new machine has a lot to learn on it and that will get those axons and dendrites all fired up and running. I hope it will anyways. It is a really good sign for me that I care about this. Actually major! I can almost hear my family whispering, "Look, she's sewing again!"
I was in a deep depression right up till I got BC. It was like being a zombie and I don't even remember a lot of it. I still wonder if I was overmedicated but when I think back to when my shrink and I went back through my records when I raised that question I know I wasn't. My Dr said I had it as bad as it gets. Now being interested in doing anything is wonderful for me. I was very active before the depression and then I just crashed. I know it could return again and I will certainly not wait to get back to a Dr if it does.
Back to sewing, I am a little embarassed by my new machine but also feel all fuzzy because my husband bought it for me with just a mention of my interest. He is a good guy.
I wish we could all get together and have a stitch and bitch.

I chated with a friend who says they skyped over a quilt show because she couldnt go and they wanted her to be a part of it. So they all skyped together in the motel room and they had a blast. I say lets go for it. Anybody up for it?

I already have a Skype account. My Skype name is Chrissyb37 so if anyone wants to hook up just send me a request.......I'm in!
Paula, you just download Skype from the net it's free and it's easy just follow the prompts. There is a small fee for an account so you can conference call but it is so worth it!

Hi All, Glad that I found this topic. This is my first post-so please forgive me if I am not following all the rules. I didn't want to open my big medical mouth (nurse) because I was doing well and really heard the pain in each and every post that I had read. Reading the posts made me realize how many different journeys we were all on.
I am now a year out from surgery and rads. My strength and perspective have grown and I attribute part of it to my involvement in all of my crafts. Through all the difficult times my knitting needles were never far from me. In fact they brought me to a beautiful friendship while going through rads. I teach women how knitting works to heal Post Traumatic Stress, raises endorphin levels, aids sleep, helps keep fingers busy as a means to control weight, etc. Right after rads my DH encouraged me to start a knitting group. Now up to 17 members- all ages, all issues (not just Br Ca), some are even homebound. As a goup we've come to the agreement that we give color and texture to each of our lives. As we say in the group - It's not about the knitting but about the joining of our lives.
I also make jewelry. I love to take old apart amd make someting new -kind of like us! I love glass and color!! A few years ago (way before my own dx) I made a healing beads bracelet for a church friend who had just been dx stg 4. I wasn't sure how she would tke a gift of jewelry. But in the middle of the church service , she caught my eye, raised her bracelet covered wrist and gave me the biggest grin. My mission began -so healing bracelets it is. I keep a wrapped bracelet and earrings in my purse to give away randomly as happy gifts to tose who need them.
My other love is photography. Thank God for digital. Editing my photos gives me a different vision. Where I work allows me to take pictures of the elderly. I am able to capture them in good moments -where there is life in there eyes and laughter on there lips. I turn these in to portraits for their families -my gift to them. Sorry I hope this isn't too long a post.

Welcome knitgal, I think I speak for all of us to request that you post pictures of your work. You ladies have such wonderful ideas. I hve the ideas but difficulty making them come to life.
My skype is somewhat working, but the camera part isn't. I can see DGS but he cannot see me. I need to work on that. How I missed having his techie daddy fix it up last weekend I do not know!

Welcome Knitgal. I also crochet as well as quilt/sew. I have a couple of friends in the local bc support group that want me to teach them how to crochet. The past couple of years for the post-Christmas Brunch I have wrapped various snowflakes that I have crocheted for the Christmas ornament exchange and they are usually one of the hottest 'dirty santa' gifts that is stollen.

knitgal,
Please post a pic of your healing bracelets. I have never heard of them before. I received a knitted prayer shawl when I was going thru chemo. I was so touched by the person who gave it to me then started to cry when I found out who made it. It's always the little things, the little unexpected things that I have come to cherish.

Thanks for the kind welcome. I may be crafty but I am a bit limited when it comes to these sites. I'll get some pics up just as soon as I figure out how to do it.
Meece,
Your quilting is beautiful! My S-I-L has chron Rheum Arthritis and has done hand quilting for years. She's quite avid -goes to conventions, did it in Europe, etc. I am convinced this is what has kept her in such good spirits all these years. I am now getting my DH involved in crafts. Men need a creative outlet as well. TV, long winter nights and the computer just don't meet all the needs. Reading is good -just not creative.
sewingnut,
About the bracelets, I tell the recipient that they come from glass beads. Afterall, isn't glass just grains of sand tested by fire. (This was one of my rad enlightenments). For me Rads certainly was like being tested by fire! I am drawn to many colors -as there are many parts of our lives and families. And I join them with all silver beads -silver has always been a healing metal (had a wonderful experience in AZ just before my Dx). These bracelets can be simply done on clear stretchy nylon cord. Ask old friends to donate beads , go to yard sales, etc. You can buy simple tools at acraft store but honestly, when I first started I just raided my DH's toolbox. Simple gifts really are the best!

knitgal I am the same way when it comes to the WWW. I am slowly learning my way around. Sometimes I have to do it over and over before I get it right or can remember how I did it. Cant wait to see your pics.
