Sheila they are beautiful!! Clever girl you and the glitter on then really does enhance them ........not that they need it.......their beauty can stand alone.

I have finished the first of the shawls and when I have blocked it I shall post a pic. On to the next one........lol.

Love the snow flakes.  Are they made with baby yarn?  I used to make them out of a thread about the weight one would use for an ald-fashioned antimacasar or arm rest cover.  Wish I hadn't given them all away.

Thank you again for your compliments. These are made with size 10 crochet cotton thread and size 7 hook, the same thing doilies or the chair arm rest covers are made out of, the glitter gives it a 'fuzzy' look around the edges. And since the stiffy I use is a glue product, after I saturate them in the stiffy, I place them on a piece of wax paper and sprinkle with the glitter and it sticks. I shake off the excess then pin them on the board to dry. I have a plastic 'sugar shaker' that I use exclusively for my glitter, the outside is covered in glue residue and glitter. I use plastic gloves to handle them when they are wet so I don't end up with glue and glitter stuck on my hands and under my fingernails.

I have used a smaller thread (size 20 thread with a size 11 hook) to make them about 1/3 to 1/2 size. these look good on minature trees.

Good idea about the Tux, Sandy. Glad to see you are "out and about" again.

I love the snowflakes, Sheila. Twenty or more years ago I ordered some online.  Last year I thought I would wash them up to give them new life.  I figured I'd make them stiff again, but the stiffness never left them.  They are a bit brighter, but I think I might put glitter on them to bring them back to life.  Great idea.

Meece be sure it is a glitter that doesnt tarnish. SOmeone else will have to tell you more I just know from experience some do.

I have only a few snowflakes. They are my DD favorite and we always make paper ones for the windos too.

I hope the dresses are coming along well.

I know what you mean about the tarnish.  I have used white beads with a silver center, and they have tarnished.

Well, more work on the dresses is needed, but all four are at least made.  Two still need zippers and all need the sashes and hems.

On Saturday I went shopping.  We bought the suits for the two boys who are groomsmen, DH's suit (a stop at a tailor to hem the pants and alter them), 3 pr of shoes for DH, a little suit for Patch, and my dress, as well as two pair of shoes for me, one of which might work with the dress.  All this and home by 5:00 pm.  That included the 2 hour drive one way, and a stop for a late lunch.  It was so fun shopping and knowing I wasn't going to do any sewing on any of it.  Oh, I will have to hem Patch's pants.  His short little legs will get lost in the size 2 pants.

Getting organized for a wedding is a huge thing!!! I'm so glad you got to shop and know that other than Patch's pants there is no sewing needed on any of it!!

We had our discussions with the restaurant re DD2's wedding next year and now we just wait for the bottom line coatings to come. I'm holding my breath and hoping its not too high. Part if the talks were relating to the table decorations and as usual I will have table runners and chair sashes to sew. At least they are simple and probably only a day or twos work......I hope.......lol. As for the rest? well I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Meece, I was panicking because a couple of weeks ago you said the wedding was in two weeks!!! When is it??? Hopefully in time so that we can start to hear of Chrissy's sewing adventures. That means I hope you aren't sewing into next year!

Table linens and chair covers and sashes were included in the venue charge.  Whew!  When we were first looking, FDIL wanted something different and we actually went shopping for it.  I am so glad I did not push for that change!

The wedding is the 17th.  Tonight Patch and his mommy arrive.  I can't wait to be Grandma in person for awhile.

Flower girl came by and tried on her dress last night.  Fits as good as it can, no alterations needed.  Whew!

Enjoy your time with Patch Meece. There is nothing like having those little arms close around your neck to give you hugs!

Thankfully DD is just talking chair sashes at the moment and not the covers. That may change but I hope not......lol

Patch & DIL had a flat tire on their way here and it caused them to need to put an overnight break in their 12 hour drive.  They should arrive sometime this afternoon.

The floral designer backed out last night.  I remember 30 years ago when my organist backed out two weeks before my wedding, now that I remember it it was a glitch compared to this.

Meece, ANY flower shop will be able to fill in!!! Don't think you have to pay the world to get a "designer"!!!

Oh Meece, that's terrible!  Why do people take on work and then pull out at short notice that is so unfair and adds stress were no more is needed.  Hope you can get something sorted ASAP without costing the earth.

My sister is a flower designer and has told DD she will do the flowers for her wedding so that is one thing that we don't need to worry about as I'm very sure the flowers will be beautiful.

The flower shops we contacted did not want to take on another job for that day, but I found one who can order flowers for us to put together.  We have a group of women willing to work on this, so it will come together.

Another bridesmaid came and tried on her dress last night.  It looked very nice on her.  Just need to make a small adjustment.  Another brought her shoes so I could measure for the hem.  Things are finally moving faster, but I could have used this three months ago!

Patch is here.  He's grown so much!  We sat in the floor for a couple of hours playing with his daddy's Fisher~Price Little people city I've kept for nearly 30 years.  He really liked to mimic Grandpa with the noises the vehicles made.  He's a little chunk, and it surprised me how solid he feels.

    I'm in 7th heaven!

Meece that's great that you have support for the flowers and I'm sure on the day they will look fabulous.

Children grow and change so fast that not seeing them for a week is too long so anything longer heads for the realms of ridiculous changes. Seventh heaven would go someway to describing how you are feeling right now with your boy close. Enjoy!!

I have said that I will help with the flowers, not do them all by myself.  That's the key, no more volunteering for me.  I've taken on enough.

You most certainly have done enough but it sound like its going to be a beautiful wedding so come the day, just relax and enjoy. I'm sure all eyes will be on the bride and groom so everything else will just be dressing.

I'm pleased to have been directed to this forum. Creating is very much a part of my life. I was really bummed that it took a good 6 weeks after my double mastectomy to even feel like sitting at my machine.

You may be interested in a quilt I had made concerning cancer. If you had not seen it another forum page, here's the link:

Right now I'm making blocks for quilts for those who lost so much to Hurricane Sandy. If anyone is interested in doing it too, here's a link to just make blocks or to construct already made blocks into quilts:

I look forward to hearing about and seeing what all of you do.

I had to work yesterday and DH and DIL stayed home with Patch.  I guess he had a rough day with a tooth coming in and by the time I got home they all looked worn out.  I took him, sat down and we read several books.  When the sobbing had completely subsided I took him in and fed him apple sauce and Cheez-its.  Not a nutritous meal but something on his tummy and the apple sauce must have been soothing.  After dinner I put him in the tub with some light up tub toys and he was so happy, especially when he could take them and drop them over the side into my lap as fast as he could.  I needed a warm bath after that!  It really made me feel good that I was able to turn around his attitude.  His daddy will be flying in tonight.  It has been fun to have them here.

Gingerbrew & barbe1958 - Thank you for your welcome and  comments on my work. I cannot imagine about an ad popping up on my blog. I'm not aware of anyone else ever having to deal with that. Sorry. Try this link:

Just one more outside edge to go on each of the 14 blocks I'm making for the "Sandy Quilt Block Drive". I'll post about them in the next day, or so. When I do, I'll put a link in my sidebar for anyone else who would like to contribute.

Is anyone else jerked to tears during the "Modern Family" show? So far the show has got it right about Kristina's cancer ... both about her having to face and deal with it as well as for those who love her. Even though I'm 70 and that character is close to half my age, the story hits close to home. Pass the kleenex, please.

Granellie, welcome.  I don't know how I missed your origianl post.  Amazing work on your quilts.

Three days and counting.  Counting for the happy day to come, and yet counting sadly  because Patch & family will leave right after the reception.

Last day of work for me this week.  Then finishing up any last minute stuff like getting the Bridesmaids to come get their dresses hemmed.

FDIL's  mother and aunts are doing the centerpieces.  How??? Who knows, but that is something they will figure out.  I am worn out!
