My laptop is getting ready to take a dive. Not sure if I'm going to buy a new hard drive or get a new computer. I just hate putting money into a new one. So, if I disappear for awhile, that is why.

The thing I remember when I look at old pix is that at the time the pic was taken, I probably didn't think I was perfect enough....why do women do that? (Ducky, u look perfect and u probably knew it)SlowDB, please hear me...my hard drive was nearing capacity and I knew it...bought a new laptop but had to return it...I kept skating on the old one...Tuesday it crashed. It is in Best Buy now so I can find out if my hard drive can be copied. Chances are probably not good. (Literally thousands of pix) I have 2 large external hard drives and had backed up my files in December, but did not get through all the pix.
So, if you are not going to replace the hard drive immediately, get an external one and back up everything you want to see again. Today. Don't be like me!
It's another day of chores...Motor Vehicle, Office, notarized letter, packages to mail. Overcast and humid here.
I am going to a baseball game tonight and I hope it gets my mind off all the stuff I haven't done.Nothing to burn yet today....

Joan, thanks for the advice! I did do a backup last week when I started having problems.
I REALLY hope they can copy your hard drive. It's heart breaking to think about you losing your pictures.
Sometimes you can put a failing hard drive in the freezer and get it to power up long enough to get things copied. Maybe an option if all else fails??
I'm with you on the whole picture thing. I look back on the pictures I've always hated, and wish I can look like that now!! Not sure why we do that to ourselves.
Edited to add: the hard drive freezer thing could be a myth. But, I'd give it a try as a last ditch effort!

Joan........I was not satisfied with the way I looked back then....I thought my legs were too heavy......I had a 22 inch waist......I weighed 99 lbs...............still was not good enough for me...........I wore a size 4 shoe and a size 4 dress that had to be altered.....................even my wedding band was a size 3......my husband didn't help even after 6 kids he thought I should look like that......
Guess we're never satisfied completely........I blame my weight on every ailment I have, and also for the cancer I got............the bad knees, and the spine problems........my own fault............

Morning all haven't heard from Chabba thought I had a contact but not for her. I do have several so of anyone wants to send me details I will put it on the list. So it's useful to have another contact number. I will send mine to a couple of people. One of my DDs knows where the list is. Have had a very slow week. My RA is really playing up and I am using the bad weather as an excuse to stay in and try to keep warm. Has to have a cortisone injection in my shoulder.
Must drink my cup of tea will write more later.

Size 4 Ducky?? Seriously?? I was a size four for about five minutes in second grade.
Big hugs Alyson - those cortisone shots suck, plain & simple. I feel your pain. I've got an appointment at the end of the month to have my knees drained and will have a shot at that time. Stinkin' RA.

Slow...seriously.......back then the smallest wedding gown they made was a 6........alterations were free then too.........the woman said "if I have to take this gown in anymore at the waist it is going to ruin the effect of the whole gown................I could not gain 1 ounce after it was altered........
Damn wish I had that problem now.....I know most of my ailments would not have happened............
See the ribbon going up the side of the gown....under my arm near my waist they were touching each other......they should have been an inch apart like the front.....LOL..........funnier.....my 2 daughters wore my gown.....they had to have it let out.....they couldn't believe it..........

The odd thing is before I was diagnosed, I was at a pretty decent weight. After chemo everything tasted so good. Combine that with me not getting enough exercise because of my RA flare up, I've gained well over 30 pounds. I'm eating things I typically don't even like. I'm like a run away train!

I was always very tiny...size 3-5, but my ribs kept my stomach from being perfectly smooth and messed up my 2 piece bathing suit look when I was 16...now I look back and there was no issue at all. I gained a few pounds after baby #1 (I was 20yr) but after #2, i was breastfeeding and lost so much weight...couldn't eat enough! And baby was deliciously fat. When the boys were born, I ate more and they were huge babies (I'm 5'1" and had a 10.5 lb. and a 9.5 lb. 3 years apart - last one at 34yr.). I am overweight now; but always looked OK in my clothes. I lost 25 lbs. since January this year -- because I was congested and getting sick a lot. It helped me so much. I got off so many meds.
Darnit Ducky, you still look great. I think you should dress like a demanding princess and insist that they treat you like one. Carry a magic wand and beat them soundly if they do not give you the worship you deserve!FK, what's this TMI stuff? I hope you are feeling better today...sometimes you have to stop what you are doing and just stay close to home...even if you have to lay down a good hand of rummy.
SlowDB, I gained a lot of weight during rads...I was working and on the run, driving about 90 miles a day. So I'd stop and pick up food and I craved sweets. After a few weeks, you could see what I had been eating by all the different colored crumbs all over my car. I lost that weight, finally. But I indulged myself.0 -
Joan...love you girlie............I was 5ft.......99lbs.......had baby #1 at just 22, then #2 at 23, and #3 at 24...........nor much time to lose the baby fat.........but I did it..........at 28 had #4.....boy did that change things......struggle with weight....then had 2 more.........and the last one weighed 9lbs 4 ounces.......only 1 baby was small, and she was 3 weeks early and weighed 7lbs......
Problem was I never took time for myself.....and that lifestyle continued till today...........always put everyone else 1st............even waited on my husband.....I called him "my first baby".......when people would say.....how many kids do you have.....I would say 7........6 little ones and one "whatever age he was at the time"............
My youngest daughter has 2 kids, a boy who will be 16 in August, and a girl close to 14.........when they were born the boy was 11lbs 12 ounces 23inches long,.......the girl was 11lbs 13 ounces.....23 inches long.............they had to get their diapers and little undershirts from the Pediatric floor.........LOL......today he is 6ft 2, and she is 5ft 8 inches....and the Dr said their growth plates are no where near closed.......
Going to the shore this weekend.(tonight).....a change of scenery........my youngest daughter who has been down all week will be leaving tomorrow after dinner (her husband does not like the Sunday trafffic coming home).....that is Nicasia.......Michele is the one taking me down....we will come back Sunday night.............next week my son is going........him, my DIL (who I like a lot, but does little)......grandson 29, his girlfriend (very sweet girl), the twins......Kira and Lindsey.......Kira's 3 kids...2 3year olds,who have no rules when it comes to eating habits. and an infant, .......Lindsey, and her 1 year old...............and how happy everyone will be depends on 'my sons mood'................JOY< JOY< JOY >............unless he changes his mind, and says "I'm not going, and trust me.............this one can change his mind and his mood as often as everyone changes their underwear........LOL

You've both produced some BIG babies. Must be something in that East Coast water!!
Mine were 7lb. 10 ounces and 7lb. 8 ounces - both 20-1/2" long.

Your Queen is checking in. We are in Ohio and will be here for the weekend. Great internet connection. I am too far behind to go back and read. Visiting family right now and they are keeping us pretty busy. Miss everyone and will try to get back on here later today. Tomorrow - a family reunion - yipee skippee!!! I hate family reunions - our timing kinda sucked on this one but I will get through it.

Missed all of you - was on vacation, had 4 ED visits and 3 hospital admissions, entered hospice this week. I am comfortable, have family taking good care of me. Will keep reading - I so enjoy the high spirits of this group! May not post much, am pretty tired, but have given contact info to BrendaTrue who will update my status as needed. I am at peace, feel the love of God and all my friends and family surrounding me with strong arms. Thank you all so much! And with that, I am going to spend some time with one of my favorite 18-year olds named GlenMorangie. Smoothest single malt scotch that I love, a round for everyone!
