Slow - I know what you mean.  I hate the waiting in the office.  I would rather just get the damn results by mail like I have for so many years.  Since I do have many questions, I am going to go ahead with this appt but will not in the future.

Glennie - I did have a total hysterectomy.  I have no idea why my gyn thinks I still need pap smears.  This is all new and so confusing to me.  I have that on my list of questions when I go back for the results.   I agree.  What is the point?  My MO does breast exams and really I think he does a much better exam than my gyn.

As a note, my ovaries could not be removed.  I was so disappointed.  Many years ago, I had an ectopic pregnancy and the years since have not been kind to my body.  I had so many adhesions that some got wrapped around my ovaries and they are now fused to my bladder.  This could only happen to me.

Jo,,, the only thing I can think of is that since you still have your ovaries, they want to do a pelvic exam and feel them. But why a Pap?  that i don't get at all,, cuz I thought that just showed cervical issues.  Definitely worth asking about.  And if they are worrying about monitoring your ovaries,, why not ask for a vaginal US once a year?  Does that make more sense than a Pap?

glennie - An annual transvaginal US makes much more sense than a pap.  When I last saw him in Sept, he talked about doing just that but there was no mention of it when I went to this last appt.  I would think a US every 2 years would be more than sufficient.  Don't you?  Guess I will find out in 3 weeks.

1 year or 2,, not sure what is good time frame,, but definitely US makes more sense than Pap !!

I know I'll be asking my GYN if I keep seeing her after recovering from HX,,, and if so,, why?

I hate to leave her,, cuz I do really like her,,, but if there is no need to go,, then what's the point??  I guess there could be some vaginal problems that would need to be checked,, but annually??  not sure.

    Keep me posted.

glennie - If you suspect vaginal problems, you can always call and make an appt.  Every 2 -3 years would make more sense to me.

One thing I did discover with this appt is I had a mild yeast infection.  I think I get more than my share of them.  He did give me some medication to take care of it.  I have had lots of itching since the HX and use Cortisone 10 feminine itch cream.  Works wonders.

Hi, I am on a new laptop with Windows 8 and I just wrote a nice long post here to everyone....my touchpad is hyperactive and it skipped around this site and my post disappeared.  So I am annoyed...but that is a small problem in life.
    Anyway, happy week end.

Ducky, enjoy your last hurrah.  Do you close up the house?
FK, I forgot to go to STFU...thought it was the last day of the month.  Oops...maybe I can get there before midnight.
Today is 3 years from my lumpectomy.  Hurricane Irene was approaching and the mayor of New York City closed the city down ahead of the storm.
We took a bus into NY and stayed 2 extra days at a hotel and watched the hurricane and its aftermath.  Then I had the pre-op day  It was Dh's birthday so we had dinner in a little French Bistro.  All of NY was closed including Grand Central Station.  It was so surreal. Then surgery day - lots of waiting.  Afterwards, DD#3 sent a car service to take us for the 80 mile trip back home..  She stocked it with sandwiches and drinks...I was so relaxed from drugs and ecstatic to be cancer-free.

Today I am grateful...we never know how this disease will affect us.  Too many women are suffering from BC while the world thinks it is always treatable or curable.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy week end with time for fun, family, and moments of peaceful rest.

    The fire feels good tonight.

    Happy Anniversary Joan.

Hope you enjoy the shore Ducky.

Spending time with both of my kids this weekend. It's good to have my daughter home. My son lives here but I don't always see him.

Hope you all have a great Labor Day!

The pool will be closed...TV, phone, internet shut down...........fridge unplugged.....sprinkler system turned off........but the house is still usable...only inconvenience is the fridge, but if I was certain someone was coming I would leave it on....they never do......then in late Oct. a plumber will drain the system.....and then it is officially closed till next season.

This is a tough time since it was Labor Day weekend that my husband died after we brought him to the shore for the last time........a shell of the man he was......so celebrating this time of the year is a little tough...he will be dead 23 years on Sept 2nd...back in 1991 that was Labor Day........the shore house has never been the same since..........hardly down at all this year......should sell it for the amount of time I'm here............one day.............maybe one day I will.............

Ah.. Ducky you have some sad memories regarding your beach house but I am sure you have good memories also..

Reading about some of you ladies and the gyn visit - I am 64 and haven't had a pap test for at least 4 years.. I no longer have a gyn (mine retired) My MO never asks me if I've had a PAP test .. does it really matter?

Joan811 - We share the same anniversary.  Happy Anniversary to you.

Today is my 4th Cancerversary.  Can't believe how much time has passed. So much happened in a very short period of time and such a life changing experience.

    Happy Anniversary Jo.

Ducky, It must be a tough decision to sell or not to sell - especially with all the memories.

We raised our kids in this house, but the older we get, the harder it is to keep up with it all. Sometimes I think I'd be happy to rent a small apartment and sell everything off. It's difficult to do with a cat and two dogs though. Then I think about all the memories we have here and change my mind. I am feeling the need to clean everything out though. How in the world do we accumulate so much stuff??? I think if we get rid of it all now it will be so much easier to downsize when the time comes.

Welcome Poppy!!  Glad to see you here.  Even though you are not through treatment yet, I'm sure you can find plenty of things to throw in the bonfire.  It can be anything from the massive amounts of paperwork, people, anything.  There are no rules.  This is a magical fire that will make you feel much better.  I do have to warm you though, when FK and Ducky are here, this place can get wild and crazy.  We do have lots of fun here too.

hi all and welcome Poppy.  Been off the board for a while.  DH took his summer vacation, and besides him hogging up the computer, we kept quite busy whittling down the honey-do list.

So sad to read about Linda-n3 but her spirit of lovingkindness can always be found at the sweet fire.

We all have had loss in our lives. What helps me with the grief of losing someone I love is remembering the people I love who are still here.  I may not be on BCO every day but I do keep you all in my heart. ♥

Ducky - Do I have to remind you once again that you forgot to mention your QUEEN?  Yes, Poppy that would be me!!!  You may be the oldest, and whatever else you think you are but we all love you lots.  So sad to have to close up the shore house.  I know the feeling.  We folded up the pop up camper for the winter.
