Gma, I think of you several times a day. It's a big surgery! It took me 6 wks to recover. I know it's hard to sit around, but you want to heal well. I just wanted to keep my breasts still; they were so sensitive. I would hold them with both hands as I walked to the bathroom.

    Gentle hugs!

Maybe I should get one of those poo necklaces for my sister in law.... she doesn't like anyone.

That necklace looks pretty gross. Think I'll stick with the crochet poo rather than the petrified.

Hope you're all doing well today.

Thank you Poppy. It is more painful than I could imagine. I must admit, my little tatas are going to take time to get used to. I did get up and make my own lunch today.

Gma, Yes, it is painful, but it will quickly get much better. Do you have drains? That's the thing most people hate. You will soon LOVE your new tatas! I barely remember the old ones. Making your own lunch is an excellent start to your recovery!

They took the drains out before I left the hospital. I truly think that was a mistake with all the swell I have been having. But swell is going down now.

Taking my pain meds - feel more tight than actual pain. Everything is hard and swollen.. Getting up and walking around are getting a bit better but questioning what I did now. Think it is still lots of emotion around with everything I've been through lately. Time for bed and pain med soon.

I've been on this site for well over a year, and I just now figured out how to single space.
    I'm such a dork.

How do you single space unless you go all the way to the end of the line?

single spacing when we are typing instead of double space. If I type a few words & want to go to the next line, it will double space unless I go all the way to end of this box.

If I want to single space now.... and hit enter to go to the next line below,

it will double space. I have never been able to figure out how to single space without going all the way to the right of this box.

Gma, Glad you don't have the drains anymore. The swelling and tightness will go down with time. It took about 6 weeks for ALL of my swelling to go down, but I saw a big improvement within 2 weeks. The pain was better much, much earlier.

Hugs, I know it's an emotional time. I broke down and "ugly cried" when I saw my new breasts.... They didn't look bad, it was just that I was looking at what I had to do to fight cancer. My DH was extremely concerned, because I'm not a big crier. I told him it would be okay.... I think this was the first time I really cried since being diagnosed.

I am sorry, I didn't see from your information on the bottom. I thought you both had lumpies, and I don't know how I even missed the fact that you just had it Gma, till you said you were home from it. So, did you guys do lumpies and then change your mind, and then do mastectomies, or was it medically necessary. I don't mean to intrude, but I have been thinking myself sometimes lately of just getting the whole thing over and done with, and quit worrying about what might be percolating. I just feel like I would have gone through radiation for nothing.

Thanks for explaining the double spacing, I am just now trying to make sure and capitalize all the time! Sometimes at night, I am lying on my side and just typing with two fingers, and then am not so hot at it..

Hope every body is having good pre christmas days, and no one is too frenzied with too much to do!

GMA.. Hope you heal quickly !

I want to throw all the fear that BC brings with into the fire 🔥 . For the last 3 days I have been panicking over a rash that popped up overnight (literally) on my chest wall above the mascetomy scare..Finally went to the doctor this afternoon.. Nearly cried with relief when.she said it was excema... I have never had this happen before and was sure it was skin mets. .So burn fear ...burn !!

    Good Morning Goddesses,

Val, control enter will give you single spacing. Who knew?? I sure didn't.
I don't think I even knew that you could type till the end and have it single space. Wow!! That works too!! Now I can't remember if I've ever did that or not. I think I may have always manually put in enter. Nah....I must have known that.

Oh Lucy, I know just how you feel. A few weeks ago I was convinced that two pimples I had on my tongue was oral cancer. Especially after I read that BC can go to the tongue. Then I got a sore on the roof of my mouth that wouldn't heal after eating something very hot. By the time I went to the dentist on Monday, the pimples were gone. My dentist got a good chuckle. I call it going to crazy town. I've been visiting there far too often lately. I think it gets better with time from what I'm told.

Hope everyone is doing well today.

    Love to all!

This fear is so REAL.... very sad that we have to face this!

Tomboy, I had a lumpectomy, but had another area of concern in the same breast. I told my BS to remove both areas in the same surgery. As part of this surgery, a PS rearranged my remaining breast tissue and put me back together again. Because so much tissue was removed, the PS operated on the good breast, removing tissue to make it match. When I woke up from surgery, I had smaller, higher breasts. So lumpectomy, node dissection and bilateral reduction and lift all in one surgery. Oncoplastic surgery is becoming more common, but this board doesn't have a way to indicate this.

i had lumpectomy and radiation. I have been suffering with nerve pain in that breast for 3 years. I had found that with lessened movement and acupuncture, I could lessen the pain. I have also been suffering with neck, clavicle, and shoulder pain. PS thought the breast reduction could get rid of most of the pain. So here I am one week post BR hoping it worked. I have noticed the neck isn't constantly achey.

Gma, that is terrific! I am still having pain all day long everyday in lumpy breast too. In february i am going to talk to my surgeon about what we can do.

    Thanks for explaining, PoppyK!

I'm sorry you're hurting Ducky. It really does become exhausting to hurt all the time. Gentle hugs to you.

Yesterday I got another Depo Medrol shot in the buttock and last week I started physical therapy for my neck and arm.
I must say, I think it is starting to slowly help my neck. For anyone that has severe neck pain, I would recommend PT.
They start off with massage and then hook me up to a TENS unit with heat. The tens stands for transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation.
They also have me do arm exercises, but skipped that today because of the shot and soreness from last session. If this doesn't work, my next option will be a chiropractor.

I don't know about you Alyson, but my RA has progressed at an alarming rate after chemo. Have you ever tried physical therapy with massage and TENS?
