I've got a couple of things to throw in the fire, given to me by well-meaning friends when I was diagnosed last summer. I kept this stuff around awhile thinking I might warm up to them but that hasn't happened, so... The first is one of those Chicken Soup books, a pink one. Sorry, but not feeling warm and fuzzy - byeeee! And the second is a little rock thingie, also pink, of course, and has "Breast Cancer" etched on it. Not sure if it's a paperweight or a sort of anti-souvenir...or what? Anyhoo - burn, baby, burn!
Thanks! What a great thread and so glad I found it...

A pink rock? WTF is the point of that???? Weird......
I've also got a "nice" pink leather book filled with little positive thoughts about BC that came from a friend. I wish she'd just made a meal instead! I'll throw my book in with yours even though it hurts my soul to burn a book - but what else am I going to do with it?

I think the pink rock is for throwing..... take good aim!!
I will toss in a few books as well - given be well-meaning people who don't know what else to do - so placing them with love by the gentle fire, but the books burn-baby-burn fire.
Tossing in CATARACTS from Tamoxifen!!!!!!!!!!! My eyes were already having irritation/inflammation from the chemo, but no cataracts 6 months ago when I started tamoxifen.
Am seriously considering tossing in the tamoxifen - muscle & bone aches & pain, depression, moodiness, insomnia, and now cataracts..... (eye doc says not to worry, they can "fix that easily" - but in the meantime I have to deal with slowly decreasing vision.... between neuropathy from chemo limiting my music and fine needle work, pain limiting my other activities, and now this.... and not even knowing if the tamoxifen is doing any good whatsoever..... am getting ready to take my chances).
Jo, I will be in your pockets for your reconstruction!!!! And thanks for the dark chocolate!!! Yummm!!

Im still drooling over all that dark chocolate....everything in moderation
DAMN I WANT THE ENTIRE BOX !!!!!!!!!!!!

VR feels left out of the party! Not a chocolate lover and vodka? Let's just say VR will stick to a drop of wine with her toasted marshmallow.
VR is happy to report she doesn't have ANYTHING pink to throw in to the fire! Yes siree.... That breast radiology office tried to slip VR a pink pen to keep last week... But VR knew better to hand it right back to them...with that stupid "be nice" smile and "No, thank you."
Linda, I got the start of cataracts too from the Tamoxifen. And the only thing worse then having terrible glare at night while trying to drive...is watching my family grabbing their seats while closing their eyes while I complain I can't see ahead of me while driving.
The best news for the day is the bonfire IS magical because that polyp I threw in last week was benign!0 -
YAY VR---benign is what we want to hear.congrats.
Ill take her piece of chocolate tho...just one more.ha.

VR...I'm so glad you got B9 results!!!!
May I join this beach party ladies? I have some pink stuff that well meaning friends gave my right after my diagnosis too. That little pink teddy bear with the courage badge on the chest has got to go and I have one of those rocks too. Not sure if the rock will burn, but maybe we can make a fire ring with them. I have several pink bead bracelets with the SGK ribbon on them as well. I know they will melt. I know my friends and family meant well, but suddenly, I am not so fond of pink.

So glad I came here. You all made me laugh today. I want to throw in all the pink BC license plates we have here in Maine. When I go out I don't want to think about BC and there it is starring me in the face on the back of the car in front of me. I want to roast some lightly seasoned scallops on a stick.

Yeah for b9! Way to go VR!
Thursday we have a holiday called Purim. One of the things we do that day is give gifts of food. And YES!!!!!!! They are usually heavy on the CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!
Another thing we do is - drink. Yes, you read that right.
So Thursday is for wine and chocolate. I'll bring plenty to the bonfire.

VR, so glad to hear your B9 results!!!
Ah, yes those stupid pink license plates with pink ribbons - does every state have them?? Also, I am tired of running into an article about a wonderful inspiring breast cancer survivor every time I pick up a magazine in the doc's waiting room. And yet, I am glad that there are some women out there who HAVE survived with an intact positive attitude. Maybe I should take a lesson from them.... nah, I think I like my toss-'em-in-the-fire attitude better!

Oh Linda-n3ypb, those flames are hot! I guess I'm one of those that likes to be more positive and help those that are scared. Don't get me wrong I'm no Pollyanna, but my experience so far has been not near as bad as many others have posted. I think that the lurkers also need to hear some success and hope that this terrible disease does have some good victories. Can I sprinkle a little water on that fire so I don't go up in smoke yet? Kitty

This is a great thread. I only just found it - and perfect timing. I have 2 TAC tx's left, and I'm sure I'll have lots to toss on this bonfire.

Ducky - where do you live?, I'm on my way to help you drink that good stuff.
Also, proud to say that I don't have any of that pink stuff either to throw on the fire.

Oh how I wish I could party like it was 1972...............
Ducky...What would my adult kids think of me if they saw me inebriated?
Then again....they all taught my 80 something year ol' beloved mother how to play beer pong!
Bless those RED SOLO CUPS!
