Thank you all. I am comforted by your support and the knowledge that hospice kept him comfortable to the end and that he is now at peace.

Chabba,
There are no words to express how saddened I am to hear of your brother's passing... Losing someone close to you is just an indescribable sorrow. I am glad that he was able to wish you a happy birthday! I just wish it could have been so many more.... God, I hate this disease!!
Hugs and much love!

Prayers out tonight for our southern sisters!
Isaac sure is causing a huge mess there and showing what you all know and what we here in the NE saw first hand last year.... It isn't only the big, powerful hurricanes that do the worst damage... Those slow moving, tremendous rain producing storms can be catastrophic in their own right!
Hoping that Mother Nature has spared you all!0 -
Ditto on the prayers for Isaac path people.

Luv Rving...great happy picture...good for you....that man of yours must be tall. lol
Chabba: hugs to you and yours.

Michelle and Kay, you look like sisters!!0 -
Chabba. I am so sorry. Your brother making the effort to wish you happy birthday has got to be the best gift of all.
Hugs.
I'm still working....sigh....

Michelle, and KAARA,, glad you are having fun. Carol, let your sister know she is in my prayers.
I just saw the neatest recipe. I wish I could post pictures. But simple. Cut rings from red, green , yellow or Orange peppers. Put a slice of tomato in ring Break an egg in each ring, over half of tomato sprinkle with salt, pepper and cheese if you like cheese. Garnish with dill or rosemary. They can look like flowers, if you try. They showed them in a fry pan, but no reason you couldn't bake them if you want to do a bunch. Very pretty and easy.0 -
moon - I have seen it done in a big portobella mushroom cap too!

Mushrooms Yum! But I like the color of the peppers. I mean this could be a brunch or dinner entree its just so bright. I think I would add mushroom slices before the egg. Look up green peppers and eggs on pinterest, they pop up.

My breakfast and dinner tomorrow will include the clinical trial drugs. I passed everything and picked up my 3-week supply at the pharmacy this afternoon. Woohoo!

Chabba I am sorry that you lost your brother but am so glad that he was able to call you on your birthday and that he was so well cared for at the end
Michelle Good luck on your trial!
I am getting a summer cold so will not be doing anything tomorrow or maybe Sat Oh well at least a good excuse to read! and be a sloth! My two favorite activities
Is it too mean to ask my DD to pay for a new charger for my I phone? It is for work only and she swears that she only used it to charge hers before she left today, but it's no where in sight. She said, "Mom, you can always go out and buy another one" Hello? I was not in contact with work for 1/2 a day because my phone was dead , I don't want to take the time to buy a new one, it is not here, (here is one room) and *she took my stuff*

Bedo, your answer: No, YOU can go buy a ME one.
0 -
Chabba.. my condolences and sympathy to you.
Bedo.. i have 3 kids who have totally taken over my office and everything in it.
I finally got my ipod up and running.. with the extra teenage songs. I'd going to have to totally redo my I- tunes. (i thought i did that)

Bedo- I agree, have her get one for you.
Michelle and Kay so glad you guys got to meet each other and have some fun! Kay you must be tiny! I have met Michelle and she is very petite, you guys look great!
Michelle- Good luck with the start of your trial, you will rock it. So glad you got into it.
Tonight I made my own tomato sauce using fresh tomatoes and it actually came out really good! I boiled them quickly and peeled them and then just kid of went with the flow. No recipe no measuring. I thought for sure it would end up in the garbage but was pleasantly surprised. I even impressed DH, who said it was "excellent" and asked where I got the recipe, I told him I just kind of did it and he seemed shocked. LOL, so much for having faith in my cooking!
Tomorrow we are going to head to the fair in the am and then we have a whole lot of yard work planned for the weekend. We have neglected our yard a lot this year with all the camping and lake trips. It is time to get stuff done and start thinking about winter. Dh is going to cut two trees down :O this is always scary. At least I know one night we will have a big bon fire!
Hope everyone had a great day.

Michelle: All the best to you as you begin your trial!
I'm still in Florida visiting...home on Tuesday!
Everyone have a great day!

Oh Chabba... you just slipped that in about your brother. I am so so sorry.
There is a lot of heartbreak in this thread.

Kids all here...Whew...I cleaned my heart out and within a matter of minutes of them showing up, there is stuff everywhere!! ha ha Love, love, love having them home. Went out to dinner and I had the chicken piccata and it was delicious with fresh asparagas. Gotta get a recipe for this.
Hope everyone is having a great Labor Day weekend and enjoying some good weather.

Off to DGD's birthday party with big pan of chicken marsala and some anti pasta salad and garlic rolls. Actually it was less expensive to order catered than to cook it! DIL will make a big pot of spiral pasta to go with it. About 20 coming so it should be fun!
We spent the morning with my DGS..took him to the beach for lunch. He told me all about his trip to Italy with his dad, complete with photos and a detailed discussion of the lambrogini factory that they toured. He's a car nut and he's only 9...go figure! I'm not a fan of expensive sport cars, but he was so cute telling his stories I couldn't help but be interested;)
Tomorrow I hope to see my DGGD!

Joyce- Have a good weekend too, hope you are doing ok ((hugs)))
Bedo- Reminds me when I use to take my mom's lipstick she always had the prettiest colors she would ask us 3 girls if we had it, I would sneak it back but always felt so guilty afterwards. You might want to just go buy another and hide it. '-)))
Sounds like everyone is busy with fairs, picnics, family visiting and Bd parties. ( Happy birthday to DGD Kaara)
I have been busy cooking stuff to freeze for DH while I am gone. I also made a raw beet salad and oatmeal bars half apricot and half marionberry. and veggie pattys for my sis who is flying in from Hawaii. we will go get her at the airport tomorrow night and we will stay over night at a hotel because we dont want to drive late it would be about 3 in the morning before we got home if we drove straight back. Then Tuesday my sis and I will drive to stay with my dad, not sure at this point how long we will be there i guess it depends on how he is doing, He had a stent put in his throat yesterday, and was in lots of pain but at least he will get some liquids in him, he has been admitted twice this week to the ER for dehydration and thought he was having kidney failure but he wasn't so that is good. They were suppose to put his port in yesterday so he could start his chemo on the 6th but the did the stent instead so now we have to wait to find out when they are going to do that so he can start his tx''s.
Everyone have a safe and fun Labor day week-end love and hugs to you all

Michelle~praying this trial works for you. I feel good about this.

(((Debbie))) - sending positive thoughts that your dad gets into treatment as soon as possible, and that it is effective yet gentle.
Deb - thanks, I have a good feeling about this trial drug, too. I spent some time this evening really reading about it. Its track record is quite good, so far. And the side effects appear to be quite mild. It's pretty cool that it's a local Massachusetts company that developed the drug.
Kaara - enjoy the time with the kids! We are going to DGS #1's birthday party tomorrow. It will be a busy day, as will yours!
0 -
Deb, it will ne good for you to have your sister near during this.
KAARA, glad the party went well.
Carberry, must be fun having the kids home.
Laurie sounds like you nailed the sauce.
Much love to all.0 -
I feel bad I haven't posted in awhile.....been *really* busy.
Michelle, I'm hoping that the chemo trial does great things.
My mom called and said the air conditioning wasn't working. Phoenix summer + 94 year old mom + no air conditioning = emergency. Mud wasps (!) managed to get mud in one of the electrical parts (a relay) and mess up the air conditioner. I didn't fall off the roof and I didn't get stung, but I did jump a bit when the wasps expressed their irritation at my removing the access panel. Once I killed the wasps, it was a 10 minute job to figure out the relay wasn't working, 1 minute to see why, another minute to mutter under my breath and another couple of minutes to get the mud out.
Also, I ended up changing batteries in school buses operated by the school Chrissy attended until she graduated 8th grade last year, so no one gets surprised by a bad battery... The school pays for the batteries, but I save them the $250 that the regular place charges to do the work on three buses...my donation to the school.
Also, I'm on call in September for disaster duty. Uniforms and other gear needed for a 2 or 3 week deployment to a disaster are packed and ready to go.
That, and 10 hour days (plus the 3 hour commute) at work and the household stuff...and I've been tired. It's 9:10 pm on a Saturday night and I'm about to fall asleep. I was hoping to do another run of cactus jelly...maybe tomorrow. :-)
Dinner last night was high school football game hot dogs and sodas. Tonight was frozen yogurt. Tomorrow I'm going to do the traditional guy thing and BBQ a roast on the grill.
Good night and my apologies to everyone I missed.

LOL that's funny that I made you feel tall Michelle because I am 5'2 also! I do have a small frame though, even considering I am only 5'2. I wish I could find someone who would make me feel tall. I guess my DD does. She unfortunately didn't quite get to my height, she's 5'1.
Chabba, I didn't know your brother was ill. My deepest condolences. The story of him singing happy birthday to you is really touching. It doesn't quite seem right to express condolences and birthday wishes together, but happy belated birthday.
Michelle, hope treatment is going well.
Deborey, congrats to your DD and SiL! And welcome home! Your trip sounds fantastic.
Debbie, I must have missed something. Hope all is well with your hubbie. Sending you good thoughts.
Eric, I've been thinking of you and your wife. Hope all goes well with your appt on Tuesday. Sending you good thoughts also.
I am so tired. I have been dog sitting for both my sister's dog and BIL's dog this weekend. Has my BIL's go for a week. And just adopted a second dog on Friday from someone at work who couldn't take care of her any longer. So currently, there are 4 dogs in the house. Don't know what I was thinking. And my DD is driving me crazy getting ready for school. Do all 14 yo girls stress so much about the start of school? She kept me for two hours at the store trying to decide which backpack to get. And I really hate shopping. Got the freezer in the garage defrosted today. First time in fie years. It was quite a job. So had some takeout pizza for dinner. It was really good. And had a cold beer with it, double yum! And some salty chips a little while ago.
BIL and his family are picking up their dog tomorrow, so we invited them for brunch. Then invited my MIL and her SO also. Going to have some bagels, scrambled eggs, coffee, juice, melon and berries. Keeping it pretty simple. I better get to sleep.
Take care everyone!0
