Nance and moon thanks for the ideas about the bananas.  I didn't know you could do that!

    Kaara congratulations

    Debbie those enchiladas sound yummy

susan going to have to try those tomatoes.  ( I get free admission, a comp ticket and all the cheetos and sprite I want in the green room on sat at blackstone river theater for "performing" with my class before the real performers) can't quit my day job, I still stink.

I was going to say Hi to all but the computer and site are acting up! and I'll be lucky if this posts

PS split pea soup in crockpot all you really need is the peas and water, really! If you have nothing else.

Looking forward to meeting you, Saturday Joyce and Laurie!

Bedo, I always have very ripened bananas in my freezer, and often throw them into my morning smoothies.

Kaara, happy for your mammo results!

Debbie, sending you caring thoughts as you navigate this painful time with your Dad during his treatment.

As our days have cooled a bit, I'm getting envious of your Hawaii trip, Michelle. Sounds heavenly! And it is probably curative....so maybe a medical expense write off? ;)

Had gazpacho, teriyaki salmon, brussells sprouts and brown rice tonight.

kidsand labs - my center advised eating a breakfast with protein prior to tx.  It is good to have the BRAT diet ingredients on hand in case of the Big D (bananas, rice, apples, toast) - good luck!

all - quick enchiladas - 1 pkg. small flour tortillas, 1 can of red enchilada sauce, 1 pkg. shredded cheddar cheese, 1 rotisserie chicken - remove chicken from bone and shred, chopped onion, 1 can of mild green chilies (chopped).  Spray a rectangular baking pan with cooking spray, mix chicken, onion and chilies toegther.  In each tortilla put some cheese and some of the chicken mixture, roll and place seam side down in the pan.  Fill all the tortillas this way and pour the sauce over all.  Top with more cheese and bake at 350 F. for about 30 minutes or until the sauce is bubbling.

debbie - prayers for your dad - I know how hard this is.

It is still too hot here for much cooking in the oven, we are still doing a lot of main dish salads, or quick things on the stove.

kaara - yay for the clear mammo!  Enjoy your friend!

Hello to everyone and this has been a busy thread!  It is full of nice people!

Lacey - I'll have to try that medical deduction and see if the IRS agrees...lol!  I'll get my doctor to write a RX for Hawaiian sunshine and warmth!!!

Our Pickity Place menu looks amazing.  I'm going to be so stuffed...and then we have to be at the European in Chelmsford for a family birthday dinner at 5:30.  I'm so NOT going to be hungry.  They were known for their gigantic pizzas, so we are pretty sure the grandkids will get a big kick out of this place.  And there will be about 15 of us, it's a good place to handle a big crowd.

Lacey  Yumm on the banana smoothie...with my tummy still a little off a banana smoothie sounds soo good.  I bought some bananas to help with the big D but they are on the green side right now, makes me want to let them get really ripe just for a smoothie.

You guys have a great time at Pickity this weekend...dont forget the pictures.

Laurie  Are you going to make it to the get-together?  I hate to say this, but the best way to get better is rest, rest, rest.  I know how  impossible that is with little ones and the demands of a family.  Hope you kick this soon.

Still no cooking here till my tummy settles. My DH is being so patient, and thank goodness he loves canned soup.

Carrie I hope you feel better soon, a yucky belly is a horrible thing to have.  Yes I am planning on going to Pickety on Saturday!  I just hope I don't give this to anyone.  (Also, if anyone would feel safer with me staying away I totally understand.  Especially you Michelle being in the trial and with Hawaii coming up.)

The nest week and a half are going to be a whirl wind- no rest for me.  Today we are going to get stuff for DS birthday party on Sunday and to look for Halloween costumes.  Next weekend is the Halloween camping weekend with trick or treating etc.  Having the party is stressing me out.  The bathroom is only half painted and the place is not looking great.  I need to do hard core cleaning tomorrow even though you probably won't be able to tell by Sunday.

Tomorrow is our tenth wedding anniversary and we have nothing planned!  Ds birthday is over shadowing us right now lol!  I have to try to at least pick up a card while I am out!

Laurie - I am sure that by Saturday you will be well-past any contagious stage of your cold.  I'm not worried at all, so don't even think about it!

Carrie - hope you're feeling better soon!  Tummy troubles are no fun at all.

laurie - I know what you mean when events are too close together.  DH and I thought a Christmas wedding was romantic - now the anniversary gets lost in the shuffle of the holidays and who has extra money for an anniversary blowout?  I am sure it will all come together for you and be a great success - you are just in stress mode right now!

Laurie - I'll come with Joyce and we can take your two boys one on one!!!  Happy Anniversary!  The tenth is a milestone - so celebrate it, even if you have to delay it a bit.

WOW Laurie  I cant imagine any better babysitters than Joyce and Michelle.  Your kids will want you to go out all the time!  Maybe do your anniversary the next weekend when you feel better and not so stressed, or maybe just a Wednesday night dinner out.

    Laurie,

Happy 10th anniversary!!! I hope that you find a little calm in the wonderful chaos that is raising children to celebrate! DH and I will be celebrating our 25th on Oct 3.... I also completed treatment on Oct 2, 2009.... So double the reason to celebrate!!

To all the Pickety Place ladies... Have a great time!!!! Soooooo jealous!

    Debbie,

Your post made my heart hurt... Of course you want to be with your Dad.... As to what you were thinking to suggest a trip... Please, please, please.... Do NOT beat yourself up over this.... You are such a kind and caring person and I am the same way... would want to be there... but we have to go by the wants and needs of others, hard as that is... I think I was a far better patient than I would have been on the supporting end...

You and your Dad are in my prayers!

PS.... How is Chuck feeling lately? Hoping he's doing well!

I'll bring a lot of pics, want me to wear my Fascinator? LOL  I will bring it to Pickity Place, I love it.  I'll take pics of everyone modeling it.  I'm going to have a busy weekend, Saturday, Pickity Place and Sunday at 2, going to the 99 in Westford to eat with some local gals I graduated with.

I guess the lawn mowing will have to wait.

My husband's efforts which included clearing the area of the basement around the boiler, and rebuilding the cellar stairs paid off. They turned on our new hot water heater at 2 this afternoon! This was 12 work hours ahead of schedule. Of course that meant that we couldn't justify a dinner out.

For dinner I made a roasted orange cauliflower soup with andouille sausage and some Vermont cheddar cheese crackers. The soup was actually fabulous! It was a total freelance effort so I will never make it again. I have no idea how I made it, really. The crackers were 97% successful. I would have prefered a bit more crunch. However, the recipe is worth making better. I love crackers! [Who doesn't? Butter, flour and flavorings, crisp in the oven.]

My ambitious husband went to the farm and bought 20 more pounds of tomatoes. So, 8 more pounds of roasted tomato sauce is done.

Have a wonderful time at Pickety Place. Sorry I can't join you, but I am dining with another member of this site. Can't divide my body as hard as I try!

Thanks everyone for the wonderful Anniversary wishes!  Michelle and Joyce- you brought a smile to my face and a tears to my eyes with your offer to take care of the gremlins :)  Thank you so much.  DH is plotting and planning for us to go to Foxwoods for two night in the next couple of weeks- the problem is we are so busy!  But where there is a will there is a way right?

Dinner tonight was American Chop Suey, lol.  Not Dh's favorite, but I like it a lot, reminds me of being a kid.   I think I was the only one.  Haven't made it in years as it is not a house favorite.

Good night everyone and sweet dreams- this thread and all of you make me smile.

Pickity Place ladies - I got a message from Lynda (Hauntie) last night.  She won't be able to join us - she is having a root canal tomorrow morning (yuck!) and she's purging and packing for a move closer to where she works.  She hopes to join us next time.

Joyce - I'm game for a casino trip anytime!  We could even head to Twin Rivers in Providence - it's a bit closer.  I'm always game for a casino trip...LOL!

Debbie - thinking of you and your dad.  I agree - you shouldn't apologize for wanting to spend time with him, even if you're just sitting in the same room with him.

Laurie, happy anniversary and many more! Debbie, thinking of you and your dad. Just saw my 86 year old dad yesterday. I'm so grateful he's doing pretty well all things considered. My father and I had such an adversarial relationship when I was young (too much alike). Since my mom died though we've gotten much closer and I am enjoying our new relationship so much.

Michele and the rest of the PP group, savor each bite and bring back a report lol!

Dh is going to pick up our new wood stove tonight so the kids and I will be eating whatever.  It has been a busy day with shopping for presents and cleaning.  Where there is no stove for the moment on the brick hearth I just spent an hour scrubbing it down.  It looks amazing!  I didn't think it was that dirty until I started cleaning :)

I am looking forward to Pickety tomorrow and seeing everyone- sorry that Hauntie can't join us.

Hope everyone had a great day and I will check in again later tonight.

Laurie- You look so beautiful in your wedding dress and your DH is so handsome. You son looked so cute in his halloween costume on fb. HAppy Anniversary! How sweet of Michelle and Joyce to offer to babysit.

Specialk- Your enchalada's sounds good too. Did you ever tell us if your skin biopsy was negative for skin cancer? I don't remember seeing anything about it again. Hope all is fine with that.

Carrie- Whats going on with your stomach is it the flu? Hope it's nothing serious!

Joyce- What a great Idea to publish a cook book from here. We could call it the BCFF cook book "Best cancer friends forever"cook book. or something cute and funny, any ideas anyone? LOL!

Michelle-  That pizza place looks big and the pizza looks so yummy I always have room for pizza even when im full. When i was younger I was never crazy about pizza for some reason, but really love it now.

Nancy- I always loved my dad, but like you when my mom passed away i got so much closer to him.

Seaside- Chuck had had several appointments in Porland which is a 2 hour drive so we drove up early yesterday for his MRi on his tumor and then his cardiologis appointment right after. His heart seems to be ok, thank goodness! Dr told him that it was very likely he had a mild heart attack because he does have some heart disease showing but nothing that warranted surgery! Yay! On that. then we saw his other Dr. this morning to discuss the MRI results. Good and bad. The good news is it hadn't grown the bad news is it hasn't shrunk either after the Gamma knife. His unbalanced feeling is getting worse he walks like he's been drinking. So the Dr is going to numb his head and shoot some kind of medicine in his ear. something about it helps signal the brain to the ear something or rather I just couldn't get past the needle is ear thing OUCH! So that will probably be done in the next few weeks. His MRi will be scheduled every six months to monitor it. But he is feeling fine, fine enough to golf ha! My dad is hanging in there. weak and losing way to much weight at a fast pace and his voice is so hoarse I imagine from the radiation. But hard to hear him at times. But he still makes jokes and trys to laugh. I try not to be funny so he wont hurt when he laughs but its hard sometimes lol! Congrats on your 3 year cancerversary!!! Hope you and DH have a nice anniversay too. Happy anniversay in case you don't check in befor that.

Hope you all have a great time tomorrow at Pickety place. Sounds like fun, and Deb take lots of pictures please. ;-))) Oh and whats a fascinator? ha!

Laurie, What an adorable picture! I'm sure you and DH can find time for at least a quick getaway at Foxwoods to celebrate your decade together. Congratulations!

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and hoping that the rain is not as intense as it is here right now.....it's a long, trafficy drive.

Spent several hours today consulting with my "second" replacement about setting up the groups she needs to start with. I am sooooo relieved that she is clearly clinically competent, caring and organized with good instincts. Yay!!!

Tonight I took two dishes to a potluck with some former co-workers. I made a very interesting lasagna with my new favorite...roasted tomatoes....as well as roasted eggplant, sauteed mushrooms with garlic, and spinach added to the the ricotta cheese. It really turned out yummy. Also made a corn and black bean salsa to have with chips, and discovered the vast difference between making that with fresh off the ear corn and canned corn! Fortunately the cilantro provided some taste. Does anyone make that with frozen corn? Maybe better than canned?

    See you tomorrow, Pickety ladies.....:)

Hello everyone! Wow I have missed a lot. Debbie, I am sorry for what you are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your DH and Dad. (((hugs)))

Michelle, Laurie, lacey, Bedo, Joyce and deborey, have a great time at pickety place! I wish we could all join you. And happy anniversary Laurie! And I would definitely take Michelle and Joyce up on their offer!

I tried to make cauliflower and cheese soup tonight from a recipe from panera's. I think it was going to come out really good too, but after I puréed it in the blender, I went to por it back into the pot but twisted the pitcher off instead and te hot soup spilled everywhere. Then I broke the pitcher trying to quickly throw it into the pot. What a mess. And now I am without a blender. It's $35 plus shipping just to get a new pitcher for the blender. I think maybe I will replace it with an immersion blender instead? Any advice?

My poor newly adopted dog just got spayed on Wednesday. Poor thing has one of those collars on so she won't pull out the sutures. She is do uncomfortable. She's a tiny little thing, only seven pounds. She's so sweet and cute. My DD went to the high school football game tonight. She had a great time. I think she is going to love high school :)

Have a great weekend everyone! Sorry about the weather.
