Michelle those are great pics. Looks like you guys had a blast. How did you get that cat to pose for your picture? Too cute.
We did a cruise down the canal yseterday, and our leaves are just beginning to change also, will have to do another one when they have changed more. got some great pics of a beautiful blue heron though.
Today will be friends over for the Buffalo Bills game against New England....the game is on you New England ladies!! LOL Made some broccoli chedder soup, and will have with just some bread and probably a big bowl of popcorn. Rainy and cool here.
Love and prayers for you Debbie and your family.
Moonflwr So glad youwere feeling up to a dinner out, What a great husband to treat you. Its the same here with the lobster...we just dont get it that often due to the price.

Carrie - it was funny, the cat was just there and didn't seem the least bit disturbed by us when we posed for our pictures. There was another one on a chair in the gift shop - same story! I think they may be the most mellow kitties I ever saw!
Lacey - really serious chair day. Rick and I will be fighting over the Ryder Cup golf vs. the Patriots game. I may move upstairs to one of our other tvs. Gotta keep track of my Fantasy Football team!
Thanks, Nancy! My hair is really long (for me) but it's so curly that you can't tell that my bangs touch my nose when I try to straighten them!

Michelle, I hope you got my email about my neck. It looks like you had so much fun! I'm jealous and so sorry I had to miss it. Your hair is so long. I could have played "boingy curls" anywhere!

Michelle, thanks for the pics. What a busy day for you. I am glad you are resting up today!
Carrie, canal ride sounds so nice. Trees are changing here rapidly.
To all, much love!0 -
Bedo - yes, I did get your message. Sorry you couldn't join us this time, I thought of you when we were noticing the kitties! And yes, you could play "boingy curl" with my locks! I thought for a second about trying to dry it straight, but the weather was so crappy that the curls were going to overwhelm any effort on my part. I keep hoping they might loosen up a bit as it gets longer. But that begs the question, how long am I willing to let it grow. I've had shorter hair for decades! At least I can keep it off my face, which was always my issue in the past.

Wonderful pics, where did you see those Turkey's? I had a wonderful time with all you wonderful ladies.
That Pizza is huge.

Getting ready soon to meet up with some 1969 high school grads.

Deb, have fun with your HS friends today...
....and I forgot to thank you for again (!) shepherding me back to civilization after our fun soiree! I've decided that there really is no way for me to get to Pickety for under an hour and a half. Tho the long drive was very pretty.0 -
I guess it's fall here. The high temps are now down into the low 100F range. The nights are *really nice*...low 70F range.
A pie pumpkin is cooking in the oven......... DD is excited....Sharon is mildly pleased--she's on weight watchers getting rid of the chemo weight gain.
Debbie thinking of you and your family...take care.

Love all the pictures, you all look like you were having so much fun. And love the color of the leaves and everything changing now. So beautiful. Thanks for posting the pictures.
Michelle- Your hair is growing so fast, I love the curls. I normally have straight hair but when it grew back from chemo it was really, really curly like tight curls but once it got to shoulder lenght it relaxed and I loved it at that point. Now it is in the middle of my back and I have to use a curling iron. I might go get a light perm because I actually liked it when I had those curls.
Eric- I cracked up at your drunken jerk experssion LOL!
Bedo- Are you ok?
Seems like it's been awhile since we heard from Apple hope she is ok.
Last nights dinner was not good but the music was awesome, had a piano bar with a great singer and had several people singing and a guy playing trombones, he also would play 2 trombones at a time. It was called torch and swing! The dancers were amazing too. If only i could dance like i used to.

Joyce- Me too! wish I could meet you all in person maybe some day.... Maybe some day we could all plan a vegas trip and meet there. I know I wouldn't have any problem getting DH to take me there and we all love the casinos right? ha! You are always in my thoughts and prayers too Joyce. xoxoxo

We may be a dangerous group in Vegas, but would love to give it a try.
I went to the local farm stand/bakery, out here in the country in the middle of nowhere, to get some bread to go with my soup today, and the owner got me two fresh baggettes, one rosemary and the other garlic that were fresh outta the oven...amazing! And I got a concord grape pie, made on site that was great also. Our guests from PA had never had a grape pie, and loved it....served with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream...mmmm. This place is a treasure for us out here in the boonies, where the nearest store is 20min away.
Eric thats so funny on the temps, dont know how you ever turn an oven on.

I'm "doing" the pork roast today. The corn and zucchini are waiting for their time on the stove, the rolls are at the ready, the pumpkin pie is hanging out in the refrigerator and the salad stuff is patiently waiting.
Eric0 -
Eric- sounds fantastic! I agree though- I don't know how you turn the oven on with those kids of temps.
Carrie- Mmmmmm- bread!
Ahhhh Vegas. I have never been and don't think I will make it there and time soon. I might have to live vicariously through you ladies.
Today was DS 5th birthday and everything went really well. It was so good to see all of our friends and Ds was so happy with the whole thing. His cake, which I had made came out amazing, chocolate with a chocolate chip frosting in between the layers. This girl who makes the cakes is very affordable and does such a great job.

Eric, I am so pleased that your food is willing to wait, and patiently at that!
Another 20 lbs of tomatoes are turning into roasted tomato sauce. I increased the amount of herbs since it almost time to bring in the oregano plants for their winter home under the lights. I have found that they do much better if they have been trimmed way back before moving to their winter home.
13 cups of chili are cooked and put into containers. When they are a bit cooler, I will tuck them into the freezer. This is my husband's favorite "Susan is not here for dinner, what will I eat" go to dinner. Chili is never my favorite meal, but we had that for dinner since it was all ready to go, accompanied by some freshly made chips I made from left over corn tortillas.
Finally, I have harvested all of our remaining basil. It is all washed and is now drying before I turn it into a garlic-basil-oil paste. This can be the basis of pesto or sometimes I just thow some into a soup as a final garnish. To freeze, I am putting it into ziploc bags, and then using a chop stick to create squares. I hear that you can then break off one square at a time. Perhaps this will work! Always looking for the most efficient way to store our summer goodness.
The PP women look just wonderful. What a lovely group. So glad that you had a wonderful time together.

Great pics! Bedo, i hope you're pkay? Beautiful cake Laurie.
Susan, I am so glad you're posting. I will hopefully pick up some tips from your posts.
Just had some chicken breasts cooked in the crock pot with barbecue sauce, sweet potato fries, and a big salad. And enjoyed a beer with it . I think my Irish is showing.0 -

Carrie- I never have tried grape pie either sounds good though.
Laurie- That cake looks so beautiful. Happy Birthday to your son. Looks like he had a great time that crane you got him is ginormous!
Susan- Oh my, how do you find the time to do all that? I wish I had a big enough freezer to freeze things and had the ambition too.
Made steak tips with mushroom and onions in a brandy sauce, and macoroni salad with imitation crab for dinner. Wish I had some of Lauires cake to top it off.

Deb- too funny!

Susan, I'm having a bit of tomato envy. I passed up the trip to the Farmer's Market today since we are leaving for NJ in the morning and I didn't need a roasting project today. DH did go, tho and got some corn on the cob which I scraped off to make my new favorite corn/black bean salsa when we get down there.
For dinner we did turn our oven on to bake chicken breasts covered with roasted red peppers (leftover from my roasting frenzy this week)and mushrooms with a bit of parmesan on top. Tried sauteed beet greens with garlic and a touch of honey and lime....jury still out on that combo, but since I put fresh beets in our smoothies daily, I need to try beet greens recipes. Also had a wonderful fresh arugula salad with tomato and red onion.
Michelle, I thought of you a little while ago as I was busy making our grand daughter a baby taggie. I'd attached all the ribbons to hers and another one I'm making, late last night. So tonight I went to sew the front and back pieces together and realized that I carefully sewed every single ribbon on the fabric BACKWARDS! I was so frustrated until I realized that I suddenly have lots of time to rip the ribbons out and start over....but yes, crafts can be a challenge! I have made tons of taggies, but can go for months without working on any....thus the spatial brain glitch. I would be smart to write a set of directions down for myself, to avoid this the next time!0 -
Carrie, that grape pie sound really tasty! I'll trade you some lobster for one!
0 -
Lacie, sorry you have to resew all the little taggies! I once set a sleeve in upside down. The only way I could have worn it would have been if I kept my right ARM over my head! LOL
Carrie, I had never even heard of grape pie til I lived in Webster, NY. I haven't had it since. Never heard of Bumpy cake either til my daughter lived in MI for a while. Of course, I bet not too many of you know about squeaky cheese either. LOL0 -
Joyce- Thinking of you this morning. Hope everything goes well at your appointment.
0 -
Thinking of you, Joyce, and sending hugs and love. Those microcalcifications better be nothing, or I'm going to beat them up!!!
Lacey - oh, I feel your frustration! For everyone else, we were having a discussion on Saturday about my intense dislike for doing crafts. I love to see them, to buy them, but I have zero desire to make any project that can't be completed in about ten minutes!
Laurie - hope you get to rest today!
0 -
Lacey Its a deal! Living in wine and grape country here they pretty much have grape everything. I hear the making of these pies is very time consuming getting all the seeds outta the grapes.
Moonflwr You got me...what is squeaky cheese?
{{{HUGS}}} to Joyce
Laurie Looks like you got everything accomplished and it all turned out fine...right? that cake is amazing. Your cold getting better?
I may just have to do a pot of chili, still pretty cold here and chili may be just the thing, got some of that bread leftover too.

Carrie- Yes I did manage to get it all done! Well...enough of it that I was pleased. Now I just have to do my sons special fruit kabobs on Wednesday for school and then we will be getting ready to head camping for 4 days! Chili sounds good, maybe I will make some at the end of the week to bring camping.
I am now enjoying a moment of silence. I just dropped DS 1 at pre school and DS 2 is psyched because now he can play with all of his brothers new toys. He had not been allowed to touch the new remote control crane, lol! I am hoping he quietly plays for awhile
I have nothing on the agenda for today. It was such a busy weekend. I am going to just hang around the house this morning and maybe take the boys for a nature walk this afternoon and look for leaves or something...
I am thinking meat loaf for dinner.

We must have been posting at the same time since I didn't see that cake until just now. THAT is a fun cake indeed! Just love those cars.

I'm looking for inspiration for dinner tonight. Last night was pork chops with braised red cabbage and fresh applesauce. DH was in the garden yesterday and noticed that some of the French bean plants had come back to life so we had a bonus of haricots verts. That was a treat because the drought took it's toll on on most of the vegetables, but especially the green beans. We hardly had any this summer.
Maybe I'll watch some cooking shows today. They always seem to inspire me!0 -
Good luck today Joyce.
Laurie, love the cake.0 -
Nancy,
What is in your fridge, freezer and/or pantry? We could pretend you have a "mystery" box.

Nancy- I agree with Susan, give us a starter for ideas- what do you have for meat?
