So...whats for dinner?

Not my cats, although the cat I have now (was my DD's) looked like those when she was a kitten.
All I wanted from my BS is for her to reassure me that everything will be OK and she did. It makes me feel a lot better, now I can move on. I go to the Breast Care Center in Woburn right across from the Mall next to the route 38 rotary. I love the care but hate the commute. May start looking for new doctors at the Lowell General Hospital.

The thickening skin showed up on mammo and MRI and it may always be that way. So ladies, take care of your radiated tata. Try not to get any bug bites that may crawl in your bra or subconsciously scratch your tata with hands that have been cleaning dirty places or planting in your garden, that may of happened to me. Even after radiation, keep that area moisturized even if you have foobs or no recon done, keep the skin clean, soft and supple. Instructions from my BS, Dr. Kelley Cornell.

Deb...I'm happy to hear it's good news. What a relief. Don't forget to breathe!
Cute kitty. I had a cat adopt me in college and I've had a cat every since.
Sharon is/was a nuclear fuels engineer. She is the one who figured out how much and what kind of uranium pellets went into the reactor. Pillow talk can be kind of interesting. :-). She was a US Navy lieutenant and a ship's engineer too.
I'm with DD at a high school fund raiser. It's neat seeing the kids, but it does make me feel old....
And as far as the earthquake....I didn't realize they happened "up" there. I grew up in southern California. There they were fairly common. Now that I'm in Arizona, it's been awhile since I've felt one.
Apple, did you finally get some company for dinner?
Eric0 -
So, I was busy multi-tasking while getting a late dinner ready, and my phone rang with my neighbor asking, "Did you feel that?" I actually didn't notice the earthquake (we got a very far tremble since it was centered in Maine)in my moving frenzy, but DH did. I was actually disappointed since I've had the pleasure of experiencing four earthquakes while living in this house....."pleasure" because we have yet to have a "big one", and it is so fascinating to feel your house kind of "stretching" about you!
We went to the food store late this afternoon and I was disappointed that they did not have pork butt, aka Boston Butt, for my pulled pork. Said that people also use the shoulder which they carry. Hmmmmmm ......Any advice on that? I can go elsewhere to get the Boston Butt if need be.
I though that Candy Crowley did a superb job tonight moderating the debate....good for her!0 -
Boston Butt is a part of the shoulder. The shoulder is comprised of two parts: the butt and the picnic. The difference is pretty signifigant. The picnic is what is used for cured ham. If you are trying to make a pulled pork, I would call around and find yourself a boston butt.

Looking for dinner?

Lacey, I tried pulled pork with the picnic cut once, definitely an inferior result.
Deb, very happy for you!0 -
Deb- Great news!!! Yay!!
Lacey- You can also use a pork loin. I have pork I pulled out to do pulled pork tomorrow and it said it was a center cut roast? Huh- I know I have used it before and it was good. Bought it because it was on sale.

Had meatloaf for dinner last night..made with hormone free organic ground beef from Costco. It was delicious! Leftovers for lunch! Also some roasted butternut squash with onions and celery. The freezer purging is going well...lol!
Beautiful day here today...leaves in full color....going to Rascal Flats concert tomorrow evening in Greenville, so hope the weather holds!
Earthquake in the NE? Wow....the only one I was in was in Palm Springs and I thought someone was rollling a laundry cart down the sidewalk...my BF said "no...it's an earthquake".

i felt earthquakes once... so scary. I missed the big one (Northern Greece, 1979 or 8)

i am going to attempt beef short ribs for dinner.. I've done them a couple times with less than stellar results. I'll brown the meat, add liquid then vegetables on top... i think.

Hello from Kona, Hawaii. I just got a call and my mother suffered an aneurysm today and is not expected to live more than a couple of days. We are flying home tonight and will be home late tomorrow afternoon. We may not make it before she passes. My beautiful daughters are taking care of things for me until we can get back to Boston.
While this is incredibly sad, this is going to be death with more dignity than she faced from a long-term decline due to dementia, and that is a bit comforting.
I had left a letter for my mom that I had asked the nursing staff to read to her daily, telling her where I was, that I would be back and that I loved her. I hope they did what I asked.
Our plane doesn't leave until about 9 p.m. We had scheduled a luau for this evening and we're going...it's how she would want it.

Michelle,
I have my treatments in the morning, but if you need me to pick up at the airport, etc. in the afternoon, please don't hesitate to ask. Of course, your children have probably figured out all the arrangements. Really. If they are short two hands, be in touch.
I am so sorry that your mother's health has declined, and that you are shortening your dream vacation.

Thank you, Susan. It's very kind of you. My younger daughter will pick us up. That would have been the plan for Sunday and she has our car, so it will work out ok. My older daughter will keep watch at the hospital. And Joycek will look in on mom and the family - she's right there in the same hospital.
Talk about a feeling of helplessness...

Ohhh Michelle My heart just breaks for you!! And to be so far away at this news is so hard on you too. I am sure they read your letter to your mom everyday and she knows you love her, you have been such a caring loving daughter to your precious mom. Love and prayers for you and your family.

Oh Michelle!
I am very sorry about your mother... My FIL had to have emergency surgery due to a substantial blockage of his carotid artery. My poor DH was in California on business and had to get home quick. I know he felt so helpless and said that it was the longest flight of his life.
I pray that she is able to pull through long enough for you to get there. I certainly hope the nurses read your letter to her over and over and that she knows how very much you love her!
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers....0 -
Oh Michelle, I'm so so sorry. I know what a risk it is to try to leave for any length of time with elderly parents. We were called back from a month long trip when my mom was diagnosed with end stage liver cancer. Now I worry about my 86 year old dad even when we go on short trips. I'm glad you have people available to cover things for you. Wishing you all the best.

Michelle, I was posting when you posted about your Mother so just now learned the sad news. My prayers are with you, your Mother and family.

Michelle - so sorry for your news. Thoughts are with you and your family.

Michelle- So sorry about your mom. I too hope she is able to hold on until you get there. Safe travels and I hope you are able to enjoy your night despite everything. It really is an awful situation- being so far away from home and being so worried and sad and sitting in paradise:( My thoughts and prayers are with your mom, you and and your family.

Joyce- Michelle is very lucky to have you as such a dear friend. I know you feel the same about her too. You are very special to be there for her in a time like this.

Prayers for you and your family Michelle.
Even though my Dad was dx with dementia, he knew who we were till the very end. His body just had enough and the QOL was not there for a long time, he went peacefully.
