Silia, will be thinking of you tomorrow as well and anxiously awaiting to hear from you post surgery.

Ohhh, Stilts, I hate to think of the first freeze.  I can feel fall in the air, but we still haven't turned off our air conditioning yet here.  My DD has allergies, so we don't leave the windows open much even though I'd really like to.  My DS is in Minneapolis going to school at Univ. of Minnesota.  He loves it there, although he did complain some about the winter weather.

Hope everyone else is doing well.  Have a great night.

Silia-Thinking of you! I hope you are resting and things went well.

Lilylady-I wanted to let you know, now that my radiation burns have started to heal and are doing better, I have no scar left. It is the weirdest thing. They must have burned it off when they did the boosts. I know you were really upset about yours, but after 31 radiation sessions, I don't even have one anymore after my mastectomy and rads.

My prophylactic mastectomy is tomorrow at 730 am!  I am not nervous. I just want to get moving and get it over with. My parents flew in from out of state to get the girls off to school and to watch them while I am at the hospital. I'm hoping this is much easier just because I'll know what to expect this time.  Wish me luck! :)

Silia and Colodisneylover:  GOOD LUCK!  I will be saying extra prayers tonight for both of you.  Please keep us posted on your surgery and recovery.  We are rooting for you both.  Hugs!  And when you are feeling better....we will have to pour some cocktails!

Good luck Colodisneylover!  I hope everything surgery and recovery go very smoothly.  I am sure knowing what to expect will help.

Silia, hope you are doing well and taking it easy.  Thinking of you both.

Feel like such a slacker here lately, but I have been reading posts when I can. I had my 3-month PFC check-up today. Saw NP instead of onc, but was quite impressed with her thoroughness and knowledge. Had already received by bloodwork results, so knew that was okay, except oddly by white blood count was 3.5! Looking back to labs from pre-chemo I was either 4 or 5, so she said it was likely that I am "normally" low. Ha-go figure. Also CA 27-29 (tumor marker) was 21, down from 32 2 months ago, so glad about that. 35 or below is normal for my lab. Some are 40 or below.

Finally feeling okay about going without wig-lots of good comments from teachers and friends. no pictures yet, but no newspaper on the mirrors either!

Silia and ColoD...prayers your way. Will be nice to have one more thing over with so you can start recovery and next part of the journey.

Silia and Colodisneylover...my thoughts are with you both as you recover from surgery....hope all is going well  !!!

Kay: my oldest DD is in her last year of law school in L.A...couldn't keep her in the cold midwest !!!...she loves L.A. and is hoping to work in the entertainment law field...last summer she did an internship at a place that was working on a contract for Charlie Sheen but told us she was sworn to secrecy on the contents !!!

Rads continue on for me...#14 of 35 today...my skin is just slightly pink so far and I definitely have improved energy over the "chemo days"...just wish the hair, eyebrows, eyelashes would hurry up !!! I have an appt.with the NP at my ONC office on Monday...some kind of program on survivorship so I guess they have confidence I'll be around for a while !!!

I have not posted in a long time - was away for over 2 weeks and still have limited access to computer.  I have been reading all the posts and am glad so many of us are nearing completion.

Silla and Colodisney - Best wishes your way.

I finished my rads the second week August and now only have to get the herceptin every 3 weeks for the next 6 month.  It is great to not have to deal with daily or weekly visits as that has been my life for all this year.

Hair - It is growing rapidly - very curly and I don't know how to handle it because it is so short.  If it were straight I might even be able to go topless but I look pretty ridiculous at this point. Tried putting a wig cap on and blow drying it.  It worked for the top and front but not the back.

Hope you are enjoying these last days of summer.

    Hi Ladies-

Thanks for all of the well wishes and prayers. I got home from the hospital yesterday and I have to say I think I forgot how much these damn drains hurt! It seems more painful this time, but I hope in the next few days it passes. I told DH Lilylady's drain story in the hospital and we agreed no cheating on the drains!  I have help here for one more day and then I'm on my own so I'm going to rest tomorrow as much as I can.

Thanks and I hope every one has a great week! Silia, feel better and I hope you are doing well!

Colodisney....I agree the drains are a pain. I have had them 3 times now and will have them a fourth when the implants are put in. Ugh. The PS keeps using the same spot though so I son't have little scars all over the place! I hope they get better for you. Hope you and Silia are doing well.

Stilts...my daughter is finishing school outside LA where she also models. She plans on permanently living there if she can figure out how to afford it. I am hoping after a couple of years she will want to come bacl to the Midwest. At least Chicago! She was a double major in theatre and radio/tv/film, so once the modeling thing is out of her system, she would like to find a position as an assistant director.

What I feel like doing is going over there with a baseball bat and teaching the idiot what a bastard he is - but I guess thats not politically correct.

Penny - I can picture all of us going over there and taking care of this together.....even more incorrect I guess.

So sorry Kymn!  You dont need someone who is going to treat you like that!  Oh course cancer changed you. It changes all of us.  Keep your head held high sweetie.

Kymn- I don't even know what to say. Don't blame yourself; he is using your cancer as an excuse.  I am dumbfounded that he could treat you so badly, and my heart aches for you.
