Kymn - So sorry to hear that AH left you, and yes, that is short for a$$...You have been through so much and now this.  Hang in there, sending hugs your way.  Someone already mentioned this, but please see a counselor to help you get through this.  You are so cute and funny and you've been such a trooper, I know it is really, really hard right now, but you will survive this, too.

Silia and Colodisney - hope you girls are doing well and recovering nicely with no constipation and little pain and drainage.

Lily - that was such a good idea about the lights!  I may go get one for my night stand light, it was so hard to reach around and turn that sucker off after my surgeries.  Is that lazy?  What do these remote things cost?  That is so cool, I didn't know they had that.  Fires are not too close to Dallas and seem to be out at this point, thankfully.  We have had some rain, but need more with the terrible drought.  Supposed to get it tomorrow.

Penny - I have dreams of hair, too.  It's so weird. Mine is about an inch long, I just gel it and go - loving that.  I get the bangs thing, I always felt I needed bangs, too.  I guess I really don't, who knew?  I've learned so much through this experience.

I'm going to see my hair girl tomorrow to see what she says about color/cut/etc, maybe I need a trim?  I'm thinking I may just keep it short for awhile, a little longer on top, but still short.  I'm thinking about blonde tips ala the Diners/Drive-ins/&Dives guy, Guy Fieri.  I'm at 18 weeks PFC.  When do you start going in months from PFC? Like kids, right, when do you go to years vs months?

Anyway, take care girls, hope everyone is recovering well from treatment, feeling good, and having happy days!

    Hello Ladies-

I'm having horrible all over body sweats-to the point where my head is so sweaty it feels like I just washed my hair. Is this from the surgery and post surgery drugs? I don't remember it being so bad last time.

Silia-I hope you are recovering nicely at home and are doing well.

Kymn-Thinking of you! I hope you have a good support system around you to help you through this.

Colodisneylover - good to "see" you.  I had surgery on Aug. 17.  Told my onc's NP when I was there 3 weeks post surgery that they hot flashes (which had really gotten much milder) got much worse after surgery.  She said it was just a coincidence and it was probably just because it had been longer since I had a period.  I asked about it on the boards here, and a nurse member told me that it is the stress from surgery that caused it.  She gave me a really good medical explanation which I can't really remember.  Something about the anesthesia.  If you want, I can try to find it.  But now I am 5 weeks since surgery and they are gone again.  I think the NP was wrong about it being a coincidence.

Silia, hope you're doing well.  Take it easy.  I am going to put it on the jukebox for you, Take it Easy by the Eagles.

Kymn, still thinking of you.  Hope you're doing okay.  What a lousy thing to happen and such lousy timing too.  I agree with all the others, do not blame yourself.  Hang in there.  ((((hugs))))

Thanks, Kay. I was thinking it was the anesthesia and surgery too, but couldn't remember for sure. It seems like it all sort of runs together and I can't remember who told me what, but your explanation sounds familiar. LOL! My drains have slowed down a lot so I'm hoping at least one comes out tomorrow at my appointment.

Silia and colodisneylover - hope you are both recovering nicely.
supersally  - I am waiting till the sparse patch on top fills in a bit before going topless, at the moment the rest is about 5mm, but thats still quite bare.

Kymn - we would all like to be able to give you a big hug.  You are beautiful inside and out and he does not deserve you.

I suspect you guys are not rugby union fans, but  the Wallabies play the U.S. tomorrow evening  (rugby word cup being held in New Zealand).   I will be glued to the telly and (despite the fact that you are all lovely) I hope we win by a huge margin as we need the points to get to the next round.
You can slaughter us next time we play you at basketball.

LOL!  Penny, you're right in my case at least.  I know nothing about rugby.  You can win by the largest margin you want as long as my Phillies can win the World Series this year.  :)

Trying to catch up with the posts...Kymn...I am thinking of you....you will survive this !!!...look back at what you have already survived in your breast cancer journey....hugs to you !!!

So glad Silia and Colodisney sound like they are recovering ...

Today is 1/2 way through rads for me and 6 weeks PFC...my hair is getting thicker and I have eyelash stubble...I decided when the lashes are long enough, I am going to go out and buy the BEST mascara I can find....any suggestions ???

Having several hot flashes per day since being on Arimidex but no other bad SE so far so I guess I can't complain !!!

Hope you are all having a good week...

    lilylady Member Posts: 478

Penny-also not a rugby fan so I hope the Wallabies really slaughter the US team.

Stilts-time after time Great Lash mascara wins hands down in the magazines but.... paraben free and no other bad cancer stuff is Physicians Formula. I bought 2. WaMarts caries their whole line. They have ones that are related to your eye color. I bought the stuff for green eyes and it was a little too "young" for me. I had also bought a plain old black-makes my little stubbies look way better.

Still getting drained from the BS. I am starting to worry that the delay between surgery and Rads will be too long. Afraid the little buggers are marching all over my body. BS keeps saying don't worry-not abnormal. 90cc from one side and 40 from the other on Tuesday.

Still thinking about our surgery girls-Colodisney and Silia-seems you are doing well. My surgery thread has turned into more of a chemo thread-just hearing about it makes me feel puky. Seems so long ago we were just starting.

I have totally given up the wig-not that it came out much over the summer. I wish the top of my head would get more hair. Compared to the sides and back it is way behind. The dye is totally washed out-I won't try that again til my entire scalp is covered.

Kymn, hope we hear from you soon. I think of you often.

Happy Birthday Maria! Penny mentioned it's your birthday so can you imagine the wild and crazy party we would have if we could all get together and have fun? Lots of cocktails.

Good news-pathology report came back negative for any cancer in prophylactic mastectomy breast.  A relief.  Also, went to PS today and got one drain removed.  Healing nicely and going to start filling already next week when next drain comes out.

I'm going to a Girl Scout Daisy meeting tonight for my 5 year old. Without a HAT!! Woohoo for me.  Nope, my hair isn't long and it doesn't look good, but I am over wearing that damn thing.  I've got lots of brows and some eyelashes, so maybe they will just think I'm into super short cuts.  :)

Colodisney:  That is fabulous news about pathology!  I am happy for you.

Lily:  Is the drainage getting less?  I hope that clears up quickly so you can be done with that soon.

Stilts:  Glad you are half way done with rads...that's an accomplishment.  I hope the side effects are minimal.

Thanks ladies for the Birthday wishes...tomorrow I will be 46!  OMG!  I am officially closer to 50 than 40.....I am having a hard time accepting that.  I would love to be able to celebrate with all of my lounge lizards.  For sure...it would be a wild bash with you gals!  Tomorrow I am going to walk with Madisonsmommy from the Illinois board- met her last week.  I am going to spend time feeling greatful to have a birthday and be healthy.  Oh and I will have a huge glass of wine and something chocolate and wicked for dessert if possible!!!!

I want more hair on the top of my head too! It lays smooth on the sides and back, is probably just under an inch. Top lays back also. I tried to gel and spike it yesterday, but it just doesn't do that. The semi-permanent rinse that I used that is supposed to wash out in 6-10 washes is taking waaaay longer. It still looks yellowy on top. I will NOT be doing that again!

    Happy birthday Maria!

Colodisney and Silia-hope things continue to improve!

To the mascara request-I bought one of those that has a lengthening primer on one end and the mascara on the other. It works really well. Especially when they were real short.Loreal Double Extends. I'm sure it is loaded with parabens and bad stuff, but hoping that doesnt count on eyelashes!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARIA!!!!  ENJOY YOUR DAY!  I met with a few ladies from the boards here a couple of weeks ago for dinner, and it was a fabulous time.  Also, met with a woman in the hospital who had MX the same day as me with the same ps and bs.  I "met" her here on the boards as well.

Lilylady, hope the drainage is improving.  Coldisney and Silia, hope things are going well for you two as well.  Kymn, hope you're managing.  Take it one day at a time.  You will get through this.

I start rads on Oct. 3.  Had simulation on Monday.  Treatment is moving along.

    Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Maria - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU...AND MANY MORE :)

Colodisney good news about the path report, I know you look fabulous without the hat, glad Silia and you are recovering nicely. Hope the fill goes well next week.

Stilts - Good to hear from you. I'm still using the latisse on my lashes they are growing pretty good. My brows were filling in good but now they seem to have stopped.

Lilylady - I hope the draining is giving you some relief. Do you know how many more you have?

Kymn - I think of you all the time and wonder what kind of gdmfsob could do that to someone at a time like this.

I'm going to Nacogdoches Texas to my high school class reunion & home coming this weekend. I can't wait to see everyone. I know most will be surprised at my appearance, I've always worn my hair long, but now i'm rocking a short cut and kinda liking it.

Thinking of you all....Have a great weekend ladies.

Stilts:  Well said.....very true!  What will be will be so I can't lose sleep over it.  I am trying to adapt a new attitude as I move forward.  It has been over 9 months since I was diagnosed.  I just want to move on.

    mdg Member Posts: 1,468

Believe me...I still worry at times but it doesn't help at all.  It doesn't change anything.  I keep telling myself that....it is a process and some days are easier than others.

mdg-that is good information. I agree some days I feel invincible. Then all of a sudden reality sets in. My big goal is to get past the point of trying to make sure every I don't treat every fun experience as something that will be a good memory at some point. I know that is crazy, but I literally do that. I don't tell them that, I just think it as we are doing it. That is what I want to get past. I want to just think of a day as being just that....another normal day.

DeeDee2...thanks for the BD wishes. I am sooo behind on here...hope you won't kick me out of the lounge. I too am enjoying the uber-short hair. Was going to color it, but surprisingly mine is coming in lighter than when I lost it! Hope that stays

Maria, I am a bad friend! Happy belated birthday, September and BC sister. Hope you had a great day. I am 51. What a change from last year when I was turning 50 at my oldest daughter's wedding. It has been 8 months since my diagnosis. What a blur these months have been.

Kymn, Have been thinking of you often and hoping you are finding a way to cope. Hugs to you.

Lily, Colo and Silia...are you on the mend? Hope you all are feeling better.

Stilts, hope rads are treating you well. I actually got along pretty well with that. Hope you are too.

Other lounge sisters...have a great week! I am reading the posts but not good lately about replying or posting. Know that I think of you all fondly and often. You have gotten me through these desperate days and months!

Happy Birthday Kristy!  Hope you enjoy it and do something special.  How is little Gracie?

My bil picked up a puppy (a golden doodle) from a shelter on Saturday, a three hour drive in MD.  Got a call yesterday from the woman at the shelter saying the puppy's litter mate had some kind of a virus.  I forget the name of it.  My bil was at the vet's getting the puppy checked out and was about to leave when the call came.  He told the vet and sure enough the puppy had the virus.  Vet said that there was a 95% chance the puppy would get better if he put him in the hospital, but would cost $2500.  There was a 50% chance as an outpatient and only a 10% chance if you tried yourself at home.  The lady at the shelter said she would take the puppy back.  This is the second puppy he had to take back to a shelter.  He had another puppy (actually I think that one was about 2) a couple of months ago.  That was a stray that was found.  Cute dog.  It was very skinny and under nourished.  The dog was getting better at his house, hair was looking better, putting weight on.  Bil has two kids, 6 and 7 y.o..  His daughter had a friend over and the dog bit her and was attacking her.  So he had to bring that dog back.  They wanted to get a dog from a shelter, but I think they've decided to get a puppy from a breeder after these two instances.  Kind of a shame.

Silia, Colo, Lily and Kymn, thinking of all of you.  Hope you are all doing well.

Glad rads are going well for you Stilts.  I have a second simulation next Monday the 3rd and then start on Tuesday.  The last simulation seems to have caused my arm to swell up.  Stuck in that position too long I guess.  Probably lymphedema, swelling has gone down and is better than it was.  Will be seeing a lymphedema therapist soon.  It seems like just when I think I'm over a hump and can relax, something else happens.  Geez!

    Have a great week everyone.

Happy birthday Kristy - have a great day.

I hope those of you on RADS or recovering from surgery are going OK, - soon all be done.

I have to pick up my lynphedema sleeve tomorrow  - going to be hard to make myself wear it though!

Penny, what brought on lymphedema for you, do you know?  Was it shortly after starting rads?

Kristy-Happy Birthday to you-I hope you are doing something special. Or at least eat a big peice of cake.

. Around here they keep playing that commercial where famous people are singing Happy B-day-it is a commercial for Cancer Society and how many more birthdays we are having because of the advances in cancer care. Somedays I wonder about that. the local newspaper has had a lot of young (50-ish) people in it lately and seem most of them are some kind of cancer.

The big Susan Komen walk was here this weekend and I decided I couldn't do it. My Ford plant had over 200 walkers and the shirts had my name on it. They make a big deal over the "survivors" and I knew I wasn't up for it mentally. I have done the walk for years and have always found it to be quite emotional-I just didn't think I could do it without breaking down-and I hate doing that in public. Thw whole BC month coming up just bothers me. There are so many articles out that are so full of crap!! There is also a lot out there that is good and true and I wish people like my friends would get their heads out of their butt and realize a few simple lifestyle changes could really reduce their risk. I honestly think they think since I got it, it lessen their risk of getting it. You know what I mean? The 1 in 8 thing. Take a walk, put down the Coke, get your GD mammogram.

There is an international art exhibit coming to Cincinnati next weekend. It is called the Scar Project. It is large scale portraits of 3 young (under age 35) BC women showing their scars. I had not heard of it but a blogger I read wrote about it. I feel I have a compelling reason to go and see it but i wonder what's in peoples mind who have not had BC when they look at these pictures? I am still horrified by how my chest looks-and I see it every day. Walking into huge pictures of it when you have never seen it before??? It is to bring awareness of the 10,00 women under the age of 35 who get BC every year. Do we have anyone that young on here?

I would be interested to see what the rest of you think about the whole pink October thing. We don;t often stray out to the political side of BC-I am jjts finding myself very cynical these days...

lily lady-there are people on the boards that are that young. Someplace I ran across one that was either in college or just out. I agree with you on all fronts. I have a friend who thinks I am supposed to now be a poster child and get out there and help others with their bc diagnosis...meeting with them...praying with them (she is very, very religious), etc.

While I will do some of those things, I am not there yet. I am having enough trouble trying to move on with my own stuff that I am not sure I would be alot of help. I had people do the Komen walk in my honor when it was here in April. Like you, I couldn't do it. I don't want to be the "breast cancer person" for the rest of my life.

I love the color pink and look good in it, and now every time I wear it, I feel like everyone looking at me wonders if I have breast cancer. It is just stupid, I know, but that's where I am.

Big article in our local paper about new breast and ovarian cancer vaccine trials starting at Mayo Clinic-Rochester, MN. (south of the Twin Cities area where I live) so I called them to see if I would qualify...should hear back later this week as they have been FLOODED with calls. If anyone else is interested, the # is 507-538-7623...seems like this is definitely the way a alot of research is going...they just need more financial support to get things going faster...will keep you all posted.

Stilts, I just called and submitted my self for the HEr2 one. I should hear from the study people within a week and will let you know what the next steps are.
