Thanks all, I see him next Tuesday, so unless he calls first, I am not calling.

Stilt.....my lipo, fat grafting and nipple recon took about 3 hours last Friday. On exchange, i just got the implants and he cleaned out the pocket some. Piece of cake.

Congrats Penny...can't wait to be a grandma someday !!!...won't be in the near future , though...my ONC promised he'd keep me around long enough so we could talk about my grandchildren so I'm holding him to it !!!!

Saw the PS today instead of Tuesday due to a scheduling conflict. All is healing well. The lump was a keloid that formed where the muscle and the alloderm met. So that was a relief. Brca results from onc were negative. So now I just take it easy and wait for all the bruising from the lipo to heal up!

Hope everybody had a great Easter. Calling in for some finger and toe crossing from you guys this week. I have an onc visit tomorrow and scans later in the week. It has been 5 weeks since my last visit-the longest I have gone since diagnosis over a year ago. I am on oral meds right now so I don;t need to see him as often

Acceptable result would be stable but really hoping for regression. So keep me in your thoughts. Probably won;t know anything til next week. Scan is Thursday and it takes 2 days to get the results back. I made my doc write a paper telling them to give me the dang results-I get tired of fighting with them over papers that I paid for and have my name on them. He knows I am not a freak-out queen so he had no problem with that.

I will post when I know the results

Lily, glad to hear from you. We'll all be pocket pals for your onc visit tomorrow AND Thursday. Good for you for getting the written order for results. I like that! Too bad it takes an order, but whatever it takes. You'd think they would understand scanxiety by now. Deep breaths. You have lots of prayers from all your breast-friends Tongue out

Lily- Thinking of you and hoping for good news.

fluff- glad the exchange went well, and I hope the recovery is fast.

The slower rate of posts must mean we're all moving on, but it's great to see you all checking in now and then.

I just returned from a great trip to Europe to visit family/have a 'done-with-cancer' vacation.  We had a great time.  Ask my daughters what they loved most about our trip...not the old buildings or castles...jumping on the trampoline with their cousins!

    Hi Everyone,

Lilly you are in my prayers as well.

Quick update on my life. Horrible achy joints and a pulled tendon are making my life hard. I get up and down like an old lady. Going for liposuction and fat grafting along with nipple recon at the end of June. This is all done under local so I'm a little bit scared, but what the hell. After my MX I feel like I can face just about anything.

Hot flashes are crazy, about every two hours. I have managed to adjust to them.

    Take care all.

Lily-thinking of you too and waiting to hear some good news from you !!!

I am recovering from bilateral tubes/ovaries removal this week at Mayo....nothing compared to the BMX last year...just feels like I got kicked in the stomach !!!  I made this decision because of my mothers history of Breast AND Ovarian cancer...after having my local ONC and OBGYN tell me it wasn't necessary, I found an ONC and GYN surgeon who listened to me at Mayo so I went there. I realize I will probably never know if it was "worth it"...other than peace of mind and taking control of some of this cancer business... so far my genetic testing doesn't show anything but it still feels good to have that over with..and at 58, I certainly don't need tubes and ovaries anymore !!!

My next battle will probably be over Metformin...they do have a clinical trial going on thru my ONCs office but the timing of my diagnosis doesn't work so I am hoping at my appt. next week they will let me try Metformin anyway. I really have gotten into a good exercise routine but the weight isn't coming off as well as I 'd hoped . Can't remember those in the March 2011 lounge who have tried Metformin but I would like to hear your experience with it...

Hi Stilts - hope you have a speedy recovery.  I asked my Onc for Metformin and was told No - she says there is not enough information about how it works yet.  I am also struggling to lose more weight - coming off very slowly, but she was very firm - said go away and lose 20Kg and that has proven effect on recurrence.

Stilts..I am taking Metformin. I was supposed to do the trial but after all the basic stuff, they realized my tumor was 1 cm x.8cm and if it wasn't in my nodes, it had to be over 1 cm all around. However, I had an appointment with my PCP coming up so I took the studies with me and showed him and he had no problem prescribing it. It is free at our local grocery store, and only $4 at Marsh. The trial dosage is 1700 per day, (850 twice a day). I started with smaller doses and worked up. Really the only problem I have is loose bowel movements, but after the fissures I had from chemo issues, it was a welcome healing time. lol. It is reasonably resolved now. I try to keep them twelve hours apart as if I take one of them earlier, that is when the issues usually occur.

I had lost 30 pounds between November and January of 2010 and have kept that off. I have not lost any additional weight on the Metformin.

My doc said that they are using Metformin for a lot of other things now, and he considered it a drug that had been around for a long time and had few side effects, so he didn't really have a problem. I do not run it through my insurance, since it is free.

I have been taking the Metformin for about a month now.  No weight loss here, and I was really hoping to lose some.

No trial for me just asked my Onc if I could have it and she agreed.  It only cost's me less than $2
