Actually my Grandma had flying squirrels in her attic in Western Kentucky. I know because my mom and I needed to sleep up there one time when there was a family funeral in the house. I was under five but I remember them, they sort of sailed from spot to spot. Like gliders. They have a connection from their front and back legs along the side. Sort of like verticle love handles. So the do exist but I would hate to see them in a cat fight.
I go tee shirts and bra top camisoles, and tutrtlenecks and such all sorted into 8 bins yesterday. I do need to put a label on the sides or I will never remember what is where.
Today I will do one drawer of my bedside chest.

ok, so we have a HUGE mess in our kitchen, so i'll be working in there, for awhile...
out of nowhere, coachroaches,, ugghhh!!!
starting spraying, saw them coming out of the baseboard by the refrig, smae day, saw the gutter outside was overflowing.. so, for 5 hours last night, i removed the baseboards, and found soaked drywall, on the wall the water must've seeped in.. what a job!!!
so, now, its bleach the mold, then put the borax on the walls.. haven't seen a one today.
will have to call the landlord, and the condo.. see who's responsible for the repairs.. in the mentime, lots of stuff will have to go... i'm really not feeling well, but that trumps how i feel!!!!
so, its gonna be a laborious week, but the kitchen cabinets, all of it will be gone thru and pitched...guess thats the way God said get busy in the kitchen, girl. YUCK!!!!!3jays

3jays: That is a mess! We had an ant problem last year and had to spray and go through the entire pantry to clean out anything they had gotten into. Now we keep no sugar in the house because that is what they love. They are so small I can hardly see them with my compromised eyes, but the BF has xray vision when it comes to things like that. He can see one on the floor across the room, so he's on ant brigade...hehehe!

DH said he'd be out in the garage yesterday...
I figured oh, great, he's organizing HIS mess out there!!!!
Nahhh....today everything is out on the patio table and he's building a shelter around the dove's nest that they built on top of our fence....she got drenched in the rain we had two days ago.
(I'd even gone out and tried to cover the basket (that I put there instead of their pathetic little twigs that kept falling off) with some big fake Boston ferns I had. Looked stupid, but worked.)
Oh well, gotta love a guy like that!

3 jays, Be sure to spray the refrigerator motor. We finally realized that's where they were hiding and got rid of them. Although I would think Florida would be like southern Texas--they're everywhere.

We had them in the gargae last summer. I sprinkled roach powder and haven't seen them lately.
My son was working out in our back yard last month and left his baseball cap hangin on a plant hook on the patio. I little pair of house finch took up residence in the cap and will be raising a brood soon! They are protected by the patio and a hat.

Blessings, It is so sweet that your husband and you are trying to protect the doves.
I hope the finch family does well Meece.
3Jays we had a ton of roaches in Haiti. They were as big as northern mice. I kept everything in screw top jars and in the fridge which was a good sealed cupboard due to lack of power. I feel for you with the wet wall board, what a mess. It is just like you to look on the bright side and see it as God's way of telling you to get moving.
Confession, I did not get that drawer cleaned out yesterday or today. I need a plan for tomorrow.
Hugs all, Ginger

I am going to leave the "go away box" in the kitchen so I rememebr that things need to go away. I will feel such accomplishment when I get it full.

okay: so, the cochroach problem is solved.. when i went in the back of the fridge (i did spray there, thanks gals) we found that 6" up, the drywall was wet, and crubling.. THATS whats drawing them.. so, razor nife uout, and only one missed hammer swing, i removed all the drywal.. full of mold, had a breathing tx after..
handy man came.. seems when they installed the new dishwasher 6 mos ago they "crimped" a pipe, and none even knew it..
who says God doesn't use bad (roaches) for good (getting drywall, mold and dishwasher fixed!!!
will have to wait till after passover (my landlord) and Easter (me and handyman) but he'll be in touch...
a little more work. im hand washing everything cause i used borax, then putting the heat cycle on bc of the infections i get.. tech is only as good as you can figure out how to use it!!!!
i hpe everyone had a blessed holiday for pesach, and /or a great Resurrection day!!!....3jays

Teka: Yes, the oriential rug in my family room has been bombarded with baby vomit and then yesterday, a beer that one of the grands knocked off the coffee table...oh well...since it's an oriental rug, the stains don't show. I don't want to use a heavy cleaner on it either...it might fade.
0 -
@Kaara: sorry about the rug; it sounds like a good time was had, though.lol i use oxyclean on everything, including mymil oriental.. it came out well for spots.. she has them cleaned prof.. too much trouble for me, even though they're gorgeous!!.now serious cleaning will commence.. we have to be tented !!!!!later in the month. one of our 3 neighbors in this villa has termites..
now, DH has no excuse.. it HAS to be done.. i told him God was yelling "clean up that mess" loud and clear, now..hahahaha3jays

I don't think mine is a "real" oriental rug...just a knockoff, so I don't worry too much about it when someone spills something on it. I'm busy packing for our trip to Nevada and Arizona...leaving tomorrow and gone for about 10 days. Looking forward to it. My boyfriend will play golf with his cousin, and his cousin's wife and I will do the spa. After that, we head to Scottsdale for a week at the time share that we traded for our ski week. I probably won't be on the site that much, but will catch up when I return. Stay well and happy everyone!

Sounds like fun, Kaara. Have an enjoyable trip.

We have brand-new carpeting throughout the house.
For cleaning, they gave us something called "Folex" in a spray bottle. You gently blot the stain, spray it with Folex, agitate it with your fingers, then blot with a clean towel. Works great.
Safe travels, Kaara - have a fabulous trip!!!
Teka - I understand the Easter Bunny left behind a little something extra for everyone!!!

I love Folex. It is a lifesaver. Even when DS spilled red ink on the carpet. My DIL was trying to save her Little brother-in-law's hide and bought some to try to clean up the mess. It fade it it to barely there pink on my pale tan carpet. I always keep a bottle around now.

hey ladies.. where do you find this magic folex?? with my dropping everything these days, it couldn't hurt to have a bottle here... and my little blindie has her "accidents" but those we got under control, mostly.hahaha3jays0

i have a funny story for you guys.. we were at bed bath and beyiond over a week ago, and in line, i "grabbed" a bottle for set in stains, then never looked at it, till today... you got it: its'folex!!!do you know if t comes to put in the steam cleaner?? im gonna ck it out. it did a great job, today, but there's places i have to go back and do again.. where we enter our living room, we have "ground" in dirt, from the garden, im sure.. it would be great if i could just do the whole carpet, instead of spots.. that stuffs' great!!!thanks3jays0
-
Is it the same one that goes in the steam cleaner that is used for spots? I usually buy Bissell fro mine, but would get the Folex instead. I have so many little spots between my kitchen and "the couch". How do people dribble so much?
0 -
Dribbles, I bought a stack of bar towels. I bring those with me to where ever I am carrying food. Still I have managed to slop milk over, then later turn over an open gatorade right into my lap.Glug, glug, glug.

I always take a towel with me when I eat on te couc, but DH doesn't. If he really needs it, he reaches over and gets mine.

I used to have my poor DD do that loking for dog or cat accidents. Poor sweet DD.

I used to get out the hand-held ultraviolet light (black light) when looking for kitty stains on my light-colored carpet!
Now I don't have either the kitty OR the carpet.....sure miss the kitty, but not that nasty carpet!

I don't have indoor pets which makes cleaning a lot easier. Even our most beloved pets can leave their traces in our homes. At ths point I don't know which is worse, cleanin g up after a shedding pet, or my own shedding. Grrrrrr
0 -
My 2 dogs are poodles so they don't shed at all. I used to have Golden Retrievers and I Know about shedding. My Dogs bring in twigs and sticks and leaves and especially seeds seem to stick to them.
I took my shedding into the back yard thinking the birds could use it to make their nests. White fluufy stuff.
