Leah, congratulations!!! two sweet babies to love!
Ducky, so glad you are safe. I was worried about you! My heart just breaks looking at all the damage on the Jersey shore and NYC.
We were "lucky" here. The beach is all changed and the sea wall by my brother's house was damaged. I lost some shingles off the roof that will need to be fixed soon, but it is still raining everyday here. Last night we had a micro burst (wicked thunder storm) So more wash outs. But nothing like the stuff that happened further south.
hugs to all

Wow! I'm so glad to hear all you east coast girls are still in one piece even if thing around you are not. Thing can be replaced or fixed, you can't replace people.
I bought myself some NYDJ a couple of years ago and even though the fitted beautifully around the butt/tumm area my problem with them was that they make them for people who have a waist line........in my case something broke in the mould and I am straight up and down.......yup, nada, no curves, indents or hints of what may be taken for a waistline. Needless to say I have looked at changing the waist band (and I still might do that) but for now I have discovered Pyjama Jeans. They are sooooo soft and they give and they have a drawstring waist which for me is oh so comfy. I have even given up wearing track pants as these jeans feel like I'm wearing track pants but with so much more comfort and a whole lot more style........lol.0 -
chrissyb I have the same shape as you.. No curves..... I buy NMDJ as I like how they fit, but do need a belt or I keep pulling them up all day.. Have gone down noe size, but still to big in the "waist" or where my waist should be

NYDJ are my favorites. They fit (usually) and I don't feel like I'm being squished, cuz they've got stretch. As I've gotten older, I've also gotten fussier about comfort. It far outweighs fashion in my life.

Okay, I guess it is time for me to look for skinny jeans. I have the boots and not my usual western boots. That is what I wear when it is too cold for flip flops! At least you gals have given me a place to start looking. Belks here I come!! They are haveing a big sale this weekend and DH says I can take whatever I need from his account when I want to get new clothes. I think he is tired of looking at my really baggy clothes. (I am always thinking the fat person will return so I don't want to get rid of the big clothes.)
Leah - congratulation on all the new little one in your family. A new grand nephew and twin granddaughters. What joy and blessings for you.
Mac - so glad you are weathering the storm. We only got a lot of wind and rain and not much else. We did not lose power and not flooding. We got lucky this year and the big strom missed us, but sorry for all those north of us that got hammered this time. If you need new batteries call the fire department! They were a big help to us when we lost power a couple of years ago for a couple of weeks. They managed to find what we needed to get us through until the power was restored.
Isabella - hope you are enjoying the lazy days. Your lazy days are more active than my busy days!
Alyson - the pictures look like Bea had a wonderful birthday. She is growing up so fast and she does look a lot like you. Such a cutie pie sleeping with her doll.
Chrissy - keep up the healthy eating and the walking and the weight will take care of itself and fall away. I can hardly wait to see you. I am having a bit of a challenge making all the traveling plans for next April, but I will get it figured out as well as how to pay for it all soon as I get all this Medicare enrollment stuff figured out. Have to have that done by Dec. 7th.
Well I am off to bed soon as I finish reading one more thread. Hope everyone is safe and happy in their world tonight. AJ

O M G What will 'they' think of next ?
In todays press 'they' are saying that a ban on drying clothes in the house is needed !!!
Somehow this promotes asthma and house dust mites. Well, no way will 'they' take away my kitchen drying rack,...just couldn't live without it...always festooned in doggy blankets and doggy duvets throughout a lot of the year, very rare do we get days where I could dry outside. Always have at least 2 loads of dog washing each day, has to go somewhere....I have one of the old fashioned racks, with cast iron ends, and wooden slats...10 ft long. Kills me hoisting it up as I get older , but up it goes ! I know the only time I clear it very quickly is if someone I don't know very well decides they're going to visit me, and then I quickly strip everything off into a black bag, and hide away 'til the coast is clear, as it's not really a pretty sight, but I do love the smell of fresh laundry in the kitchen, so I overlook what it looks like ! Who on earth spouts these silly things regularly I do not know.
Weekend (almost) again, I am ready to hibernate now. The clocks have been put back to the correct time, so it is dark just after 5pm...long nights stretch ahead of me now. I do like my own company, so not bothered there, but I don't like to be cooped up in the house on an evening....I have been trying all week to get out of bed earlier, to get outside things done on a morning, but find I cannot drag myself out early ! Got a pile of sewing to be done, 2 books arrived from Amazon this morning, and I have half finished a cardigan I am attempting to knit!
I have been busy with a dog having a litter of puppies most of the last 24 hours, half way through I was ready to throw in the towel, and get the vet to do me a caesarean, but just tried another shot of Oxytocin, and things started to move, but it took her from 2.15 this morning 'til 6.30 tonight to get 5 out, 3 of which were dead.... I shall be suprised if the remaining 2 make it...they're just not looking for the milk bar. Mother is trying to sit on them, and I am sure I shall fall asleep, as I never went to bed last night, and they'll be smothered. I have them in the kitchen near the log burner, and have myself a chair set up next to the puppies...but...I am pretty sure I am wasting my time. This is a job for much younger people, I used to thrive on this, but now just want them to have a damned good drink and go to sleep safely, and let me SLEEP. I know I shall have to sit it out until the bitter end, whatever the outcome....I have just rung DD and cancelled our Saturday morning 'mothers meeting' and asked her to ring all the DGDs and DGSs that might have been intending to call...can really do without a houseful of noise and chattering.
Isabella.

Good Lord Isabella! Talk about a government trying to control what people do! Bann drying clothes in the house............ok fine do that........but it would mean no dryers in the house either so I could just see those Pollies heading for the House in their underdrawers because nothing was dry........hahahahaha! Serve them right for interfering where they dont need to.
Oh that poor little dog! Such a long time for her to be in labor, no wonder three of the puppies were born dead and the other two struggling. Im not surprised they are not nuzzling the milk bar as they will be exhausted as well. Sure hope they take their first food and survive. Take care and get some rest.
Well, both DD's will be here tomorrow and we will be having lunch at the restaurant that DD2 wants to have cater her reception. I'm standing back and only offering advice if asked.........she's almost 40 and very independent in her thoughts of what she wants. None the less, its very exciting and I'm excited that she has finally found the one she wants to spend the rest of her life with. I was beginning to think it just wasn't going to happen for her.......its so exciting that family from North Queensland have already booked there cottage so they can be here.
Have a great weekend all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Hi all
Have both grandchildren tonight and we took them up the road earlier for a fluffy( bad mistake as neither now want to eat.) Anyway half way, Miss Bea stated that she thought her legs were out of breathe, as she rode her scooter up the road!
Hope you are all having a good weekend.

LOL! Ali that miss Bea sure is a treat! I guess that's one way to say her legs were tired! Have fun and enjoy their overnight stay.

Isbella, I couldn't handle the death side you have to endure with the joy of birth. My heart would break each time. Here I am praying for two little puppies I don't even know!!

Barbe a fluffy is a kids version of a capachino. Made the same but with hot chocolate......kids just love them as they think they are drinking grown up coffee......lol.
I'm with you on the prayers for those two precious puppies.

Yummy.
So one of the bears paid a call last night on the deck outside my bedroom at 2 AM. He woke up me and the dogs at the same moment. I switched on the lights outside and saw him taking off for the tree line. I imagine the dogs loud barking is what caused him to run. I was so deeply asleep it took me a moment to realize it wasn't some burglar dressed like a ninja. Of course DH is out of town. I know I heard the bear the night before, but DH had said it was just the cats.
I THOUGHT BEARS SLEPT AT NIGHT. OOPS CAPS. I am only taking the dogs out on lead to the area right in front of the house. I am not interested in meeting the bears. Maybe I could string some bells at the entrances to the decks. There are two levelsa and three sets of stairs from the yard. It isnt very high but there are azaleas all around the perimiter. I wouldlike to make it less attractive to the bears.
Isabella, poor puppies.
Laters, bless all those people on the East Coast with all thier suffering.

Oh Ginger! What a way to be woken from a deep sleep!.......scary!! I guess the bears are looking for that last feast before they hibernate so would be pretty active in all areas right now.
Well summer has definitely arrived.......yuk! Today is in the high 90's with a strong hot north wind blowing which makes it feel like its well over 100. Oh I hate summer!! Don't like the heat at all.
Have a good day all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -

Barbe, to make an even yummier fluffy sometimes chocolate syrup is drizzled around the cup first then the fluffy milk covers it - this is what our local cafe does and so the children spent time trying to get every last bit. They also get a marshmallow as well.
Winter has decided to return today - it is quite chilly.

Me want a FLUFF!!!!!!!!
Ginger, do NOT leave the dogs outside by themselves on leads. It's like a buffet line for a bear!!! I know of someone who left her rabbit outside on a lead and a coyote got it in the middle of the afternoon!! She was devastated as the poor little thing couldn't run away...

Lol Barbe I just love watching the kids try to lick the chocolate from the cup and end up sharing it with their whole face!

Ginger - YIKES! that's way too close and pretty scarey but I'm glad the dogs & lights sent the bear running... Just in case, though, you might want to get yourself a can of bear repellent spray (read the directions, don't use it inside, and watch which way the wind is blowing); and a small air horn. Most sporting goods stores, or outdoor-type stores should have both. Personal protection.
Fluffy sounds a clever way to keep the kids occupied and happy awhile.

BarbaraA, just found this thread. I noticed that you have the same DX that I have.
I was wondering if you could share your treatment with me?I have to decide about
chemo or not. My oncotype number is 17. Appreciate any info from you or anyone.
Nice to meet all of you ladies0 -
Have never seen any bears here in our area of N. Carolina. Im sure they're around close by but have never encountered any anywhere. What we do have is bunches of coyotes howling at night. Sounds like they get closer every night. Some one is clearing lumber next to our property, which I geuss is pushing them towards our property, although Ive heard they will live just about anywhere.

We had a coyote taking a sun bath on our roof

We don't have bears or coyotes. What we do have is wild boars. They are not my idea of good neighbors! They destroy lawns and gardens. Also, they're difficult to get rid of, partly because they are a protected species. These females have3 litters per year with an average of 6 piglets in each litter. So what bright and shining star decided that this species was in any danger and declared it "protected"?

Leah - Here in Texas feral hogs are a niusance and I think can be hunted year round. Certainly not "protected". Most country people detest them. Tear up landscape, farming, ranching, wetlands.

Barbe, thanks. I actually know not to leave the dogs tied put back from Illinois when we had a good sized pack of Cayotes in our neighborhood. I wish I had a fence right by the house but don't. The paddock is fenced and great big bit I wouldn't leave them out there alone now. I hope the bears go live somewhere else, a nice bear preserve or something. We are pretty close to some State parks and not too far from where you get into some mountains so I am not surprised there are bears I just never thought I would actually see them. doh
I feel so bad for the East coast people. I wonder what organizations are going to help them fix their houses. I dont think the Red Cross does anything like that. It is just so sad to see people so hurting.
DH comes home tomorrow3 night. He is at his folks house and out with siblings. They went to my favoirte hot dog stand! Lucky him.

Ginger - there are a lot of groups from civic groups to church groups that travel around to different disaster areas and help people clean up and rebuild. My dad used to take his vacation days every year and go with a group of Baptist Men to different places and build houses and he would do the electrical work that needed to be repaired or replaced. He was 78 the last time he was able to go with them. After that his Alheimers was getting to the point the family really discouraged him from going anymore.

We have lived here for almost 23 years now. Every couple of years we have a bear wonder into town but most og them hang around a couple of days and wonder back out. a few times one has discovered garbage cans and had to be traped and transported. About 7 or 8 years some cayotes took up resedence in town. Now we have them all over the place, mostly singles or pairs, rarely as a pack. The animals that always caused the most concern are the cougars. Over the years we have had one on 3 or 4 occasions. They really cause excitement when they show up near the grade school. The State comes after them right away then.

I am so pleased I live in a place with no wild animals. Not sure I would know what to do.
