Yes I've heard of her and seen some of her instructional shows. She's from NZ and yes, she sure does some beautiful work! I can only look at her embroidery and sigh with envy......lol.

Hah my typing was in the dark on my lap.
I have tried some of the handwork and it looks really nice. It is very time consuming amd used in small areas is possible. So pretty.

I love doing the fine single thread painting work but there are techniques in embroidery that I would love to learn........even at this stage of my life. The one thing I've always wanted to do was ribbon embroidery but so far have not gotten around to finding so done who can teach me..........I live in a bit of a back water when it comes to crafts.
When I was recovering after the initial go round with this disease I embroidered some squares with different things from my garden and then made those squares into a quilt. The first time I showed it at the quilting guild here they all said it was done by machine! I was both offended and pleased at the same time........lol.......pleased that they thought it too good to have been done by hand and offended that they would jump to the conclusion that it wasn't. I got my love of thread work from my grandmother and I remember her telling me that when doing embroidery you should not be able to tell the back from the front. I'm still very particular about that and if I'm not happy with a project, I have been known to unpick it and start again.........I think I'm a little pedantic in that.......lol.0 -
You can watch TV recordings of silk ribbon embroidery and follow along. I bet you would be good at it. The close ups are so good that it makes it alot easier. Look online for it and I think you will find some that are useful. The ribbon is thin but works up quickly.
Good luck,
Ginger

Thanks Ginger, after I'm done with all the wedding stuff I'll have some time to do that. Even though I'm online a lot, I use the Internet very little to find things.......I guess I need to broaden my horizons and go searching........lol
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Ginger, Chrissy - Have either of you ever seen or tried Norweigen Hardanger embroidery? It is counted thread type but with cut work, usually white on white and quite beautiful.
My grandmother was very good at it.

Oh Chabba, that is exquisite!! I've heard of it but never knew what it was nor the techniques for making it. There are so many ways of embroidery and lace making it makes my head spin!......lol. It's such a shame I didn't have the time to do all these crafts when I was younger...........just think of all the things I could have done!......oh my!!!!

Chabba - that is beautiful!! Did your grandmother make that piece?
Alyson - take care of yourself. Get well soon!!

I do have a few of Grandma's pieces but that is a picture from a site I found on Google. One of the pieces that I gave to my Brother is a tablerunner in this pattern.

I didn't realise that i knew so many swear words because I have used them today. This disease sucks.

Words are not there to adequately tell of all that Mel has been through in the last few years, but just when it seemed like she was finally getting the medical attention she needed and was building a new happier life this happens. My heart breaks for so many that were involved in this tragic event.
To join the other in the sentiment to "Fly free dear Mel"

I'm so sorry to hear of this sad news. I lost contact with SV when y'all had to switch to FB, which I don't have. But I remember her for her generous heart, joie de vivre and the love of nature around her. May God Bless her sweet soul.

Sv Melissa was one of the first to welcome me here. Like heartnsoul I don't FB, so always appreciated news of her here after she had moved there. What a beautiful spirit she had, and what talent. A big loss.
Fly with Peace and Beauty, SV. God bless.

On a happier note, I'll add that Ginger heard from Isabella. She's in the hospital with her back, and has no reliable internet service. Hopefully she'll be back soon. At least that's good news, and we so need that now.

Oh, that is good news!

That is good news indeed. I was starting to wonder if she was in prison for shooting the doctor who wasn't treating her. I hope they are able to reduce her pain.

QCA & Ginger, thanks for the update on Isabella! I hope she is getting relief from her pain, and look forward to her return. If you are able to contact her again, please send my best wishes!

I have been wanting to ask if any of you have taken Exemestane (gen. of Aromasin). I am now into my fourth month on it and am finding the side effects to be dreadful. With previous cancer I followed up with tamoxifen for almost three years and then three more years on arimidex. I will continue to take it for at least 90 more days as it is so darn expensive and I can't waste the cost but am thinking of giving it up when this bottle is finished.
Anyone else who has made this decision. In spite of metastatic disease, now in hip, I felt pretty good until I started this darn poison.

Mary, I have not taken that..sorry I am of no help..

Exmestane is what I am currently eith off of or on vacation from depending on what my ONC says next week. I went to it from Arimidex. Exmestane gave me serious pain in my knees, serious as well as hands and several other SE's including sleep issues. I hope I cam find soething to take. I understand how you could want to stop, when we say serious SE's we aren't kidding are we. I hope you can find a way through. I am thinking maybe I should have taken stronger pain relief or stronger sleep aids, I don't know.
There is an entire thread on aromasin that may be of help to you. Hugs Ginger
