Happy Mother's Day to all the moms here!

I echo everyone else. Those hearts are beautiful!! And hope the surgery goes smoothly.

My DS came down for the weekend. Oh boy, what a difference between a daughter and a son. It was fun to have him around and we did get some stuff done out in the yard. The sun came out this afternoon and we got to take the dog for a walk before he got back on the boat. So a great Mother's day. Hope you all had a good day also.

Here are some pics of my vacation. I feel so much better being off the AI. I have been enjoying life again.

Mother's Day is about over so hope everyone had a happy one.  We had a combination with DH's birthday, too.

Does anyone have a recent laptop or pc with Windows 8?  Many people I've talked with don't like Windows 8 but nobody had anything left with Windows 7.  I ordered a laptop last week (locally from Office Max) and it should arrive sometime this week.  I told them to load the virus and malware programs on it but I need to learn how to transfer things I want to keep from one computer to the other.  Plus learn how to navigate Windows 8.  Things are much different from when I worked for the State and all I had to do to fix computer problems was dial the "help line" and they fixed it!

Elisimo AJ, hope you had a good Mother's Day too, and 3jays, Isabella and every one of you!

Sorry these are so big. they are coming over from FB. The resort looked just like the brochure, it had an infinity pool that looked like it joined the ocean.

Wow Nancy! What a gorgeous place to holiday!!

Kathy, my new laptop that I got a few months ago uses Windows 8. I was a little intimidated when I got it as I was using XP.......yes, I was a little behind the times......lol......but after playing for a few hours its actually very easy to use. You have the choice to use the Windows 8 touch screen look or you can use the screen that looks like the earlier versions. The search facility is so easy to use and makes looking for things way easier that the older versions.

There are a couple of ways to transfer data from one computer to another........firstly you can use a USB, download to it and then just plug into the new computer and save your files there or, you can hook up both computers with a double USB cord and transfer directly by sending your files to the new computer.

    Good luck!

Got to get my skates on and go pack for the week. I need to make sure I have all the bits I need to continue working on the hearts as well as the trimmings that I've got to show DD for her approval. Ho hum,........a mothers work is never done.........lol.

    Have a great day all!

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Nancy beautiful photos. I think I woud be afraid to zip line. You are brave!!!

Chrissy I hope your week is a good one helping DD and making up wedding decor. Of course we are all wishing your DD well for this surgery. Love Ginger

Thanks for the advice, Chrissy.  I'm sure I'll be more comfortable using the familiar desktop!  And I can't wait to "play" on it.  The main things I want to transfer are photos and music.  Thoughts and prayers are with you and your DD for this week.

Nancy, what great pictures!  Looks like a beautiful place. I admire you for doing the zipline--I sure couldn't do it.  Heights are not my friend and I don't even like going down escalators, yet I love to fly on trips.  Go figure.

It is called Windows 8 Blue...it addresses some major issues..you can probably google it..

Yes, it was so beautiful. We are planning our next trip all ready. (next year!) We are even going to take my DS and DD's BF. LOL I really did not feel scared at all. I am usually not real comfortable with heights either. But somehow I have gotten braver lately. My ankles swell every time on the plane rides now. Not sure why that is happening. Oh well.

My DD just got a window's phone, with 8 on it. But I am still using 7. I just get comfortable with using a tech program and then they want us all to update.

    Keeps us on our toes.Wink

So glad I found this thread. It feels like a good place to be. I am 64 just diagnosed with IDC. Having lumpectomy and SN bioposy 5/15. Trying to stay positive but the tears just sneak up on me at the most unexpected times. Found this darn BC early so hoping SN biopsy are good. Thank you for being here. I don't feel quite so much alone.

Hi sbab49 and welcome.  So glad you found us, we are a pretty good bunch and very happy to support you, hug you and pass on information as required.

We all know about the crying jags that just seem to sneak up on you out of the blue.........it's a scary thing being told you have cancer. Once you have your surgery you will feel like you are actively doing something to beat the beast but it does take some time to get used to the idea.

Come here often, ask any questions you need even if you think they are silly.......we are all happy to help out where we can.

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

welcome sbab, just like chrissy said, we've been there, done that. Ask any questions. You ARE NOT alone, anymore. The waiting time is really so hard.  Where are you from?

Hi SBAB,  yes this is a good place to come. A lot of really nice ladies are on here from all arounf the world.  Me I am much closer to you, Redmond Wa.  Are you coming into Seattle for treatment? I go to SCCA.

Your questions will change over time and you may want to search out the specific groups on her for those questions to get the most up to date answers. I have from friends from both types of threads.  Here it is very comfortable to me to be with women who have similar life issues to mine.

I hope your upcoming days go smoothly.

    Hugs Ginger

I will be receiving treatment at CCNW in Spokane. My son pleaded with me to go to Seattle (He lives in Port Orchard) but I just wanted to stay close to home. I have heard very good comments about CCNW and feel comfortable with the BS. Will be having lumpectomy Wed with SNL biopsy. Meet with Rad Onco tomorrow so we will see how that goes. I have read so much about oncotype test and my BS says not necessary. She does not feel that chemo will be  necessary. Don't know stage but grade is 2/3. Perhaps she will revisit that issue after she has results of SNL biopsy.

sbab - I grew up in Spokane and graduated from Eastern Washington in 1964.  Enjoyed my time in Cheny.  Went back a couple of summers for grad school.  About four years ago I stopped in Cheny on my way to Spokane and drove around the campus, my how it has changed and grown!

Hi sbab, and welcome to you.  I so love this site and am glad you found it too!  Almost three years ago I was where you are now, awaiting surgery and worrying.  We all know about the tears because we've all shed them.  This is such an emotional time and I do think that once your surgery is over and you know what you're dealing with, things will improve.  I had the same surgery you're having.

Please keep us posted, ask questions, or just talk about anything you choose.  You are not alone.

Sbab waiting for treatment to begin really is a pain.........try to keep your mind busy with doing things that you love or even better still, grab a girlfriend and go out for coffee and a bit of window shopping.......it not only helps pass the time it's also good to be thinking of things other than BC.

    Good luck for the 15th!

Just hang in there for now, sbab.  Your surgery will soon be behind you.

Lisa,  wish I'd known about the Windows 8 Blue "fix" earlier. I just looked it up.  I'd have waited to buy, but at least I have a resource in DIL.  She recently got a new laptop and is a computer whiz, and she'll help me next month when we all go to the beach for a week.

I wanted to show you what passed through my yard yesterday. The boulder is 3 feet tall, this is a big bear.

  • macatacmv
    macatacmv Member Posts: 1,200

whoo, ginger, that would give me the shivers.

At first I couldn't see the bear and I thought what does she mean, that rock passed through her yard? LOL

Haha, we have had other bears and bear families but none so large as this guy.  I hope he just keeps om traveling.   That boulder is off to the side of the mowed area and about 50 feet away from the corner of the deck. My SIL looked it up and in 2010 only 3 people in the US were killed by bears. It is far more dangerous to drive he says. Lol
