oh so sorry to hear about Chevy. Glad it isn't worse. Ice is the worst!
happy I am out of the cold for a bit. Yesterday we went to beautiful garden. I'll try to post a pic later. Shopping for a nice outfit for my DS to wear tonight. Why are men such poor shoppers?

Sorry to read about Chevy, my prayers are with her.
It is warm in Dallas today and for the weekend, and I am going to take advantage of every minute of it! Yay! I hope you are all thawing out, those of you who had these terrible storms.
Happy Valentine's Day, my sweet sisters!

Men are bad shoppers because they either see the price tag, their watch, or only our naked bodies beneath the outfit. Either way, they really have no opinion!!
We walk quicker in the cold weather, but I don't use a hat, scarf and only gloves if I have to hold the steering wheel. That acclimatizes us pretty quick. If I had to stay out longer I guess I'd wear more, but I just bought a wool hat for the first time that pulls over my ears a couple of years ago and I see it on my coat closet shelf with the tags still on!!! The only advantage of being like this is we are wearing short sleeves at 60 degrees when the rest of you are bundling up!!! One year when we went to Greece at the beginning of March to be off-season (way better for photo ops!!! We were alone in the Temple of The Grand Masters on Rhodes!!), the locals were pointing and laughing at US while THEY were in leather coats and scarves...it was 70 degrees. Perfect weather and we were in t-shirts!
We really feel bad when we see non-or-new Canadians bundled up in say, like September, wondering what they'll be like by January!!! We don't even wear a coat in September and don't often zip up or button up our winter coats until December. Yesterday someone was in shorts (but with a coat on) while he was shoveling his drive - the sun WAS out, so it was warm. For us.

I went to Nome once. When the temp warmed up to 0F at noon we had our coats undone because we felt hot. In Seattle people would have on shorts and fleece at 60F.

Hey folks valentining then sleeping, up now. Didn't write total details about conversations with Chevy, cuz of posting on multiple threads. Conversations were typically interupted as conversations in hospitals are---people coming and going, trying to cram lots into a short talk, diverging, laughing.
She didn't think to call for help. The staff didn't properly explain what to do. But thankfully she wasn't injured b/c of it. She doesn't have a PCA--pain machine with the button. We were laughing so much I didn't get to pain scale. The guy was coming with her med. Felt a bit bad I didn't do my normal preop teaching, but Chevy's no shrinking violet.
Her fracture---if one has to have a fx, hers is the best. it's not part of weight bearing. Huge difference for pain now and then for recovery. It's a hairline versus like broken glass. The broken glass type fx's can have trouble healing well b/c the matrix is so disrupted. The rod will give the fx the support it needs, should heal very nicely. Doc's going to have her up tomorrow
I'm watching the clock. I'm calling at 8pm EST. will post as soon as I have info. If she still under anesthesia drug influence , I'm sure DD will be at bedside. Will keep postop note short b/c I've put the posts on several threads. XOXO sassy
Going to C&P to her other two most active threads STFU and Older

Please tell Chevey to let the hospital workers do their jobs. Her job is to heal. My mom, after a hip replacement went out into the hall and saw a wet floor sign, she decided the floor was dry, leaned over to pick up the sign, fell over and broke her other hip!!!! She refused to try to walk again although the Dr said she could,
Chevy you behave yourself and listen to Sassy!
I have the brace on my back and if I drank I would do so. Maybe I will begin.
Hugs Ginger

3jays, I will not leave this area without seeing you! I'm just busy with the wedding and family, but tomorrow is our day!
We've been having a great time. Even tho we had a flat tire on the rental car. We were in a parking lot and traveling with a former marine has it's benefits. He put on the spare in about 20 minutes and we were back on our way. Now we are in our 2nd rental car.
Ginger, sorry for the restriction, it would drive me to drink, too.

Hugs, to everyone who needs one!!!
I am trying to use my new computer with windows 8.1...I can't get used to it or find anything I need...
I am hoping for a flash of light to instill in my brain...hmmmm
We are having company coming on Tuesday and I have to get the house in order and figure out what to have for food. I don't know why this is getting harder and harder for me..oh..is this a sign of aging?? heaven forbid..

Lisa, good luck with your computer. Can relate to getting house ready and worrying about what to serve. Take a slow, deep breath. Now let it out nice and slow. Repeat as necessary. You'll do just fine.

I am not anxious about it..just know how much work I have yet to do...

Well Girls I'm home after a very late night.......lol......got to love weddings when you are just a guest! I will admit it was such a lovely relaxed atmosphere that the time went so fast and everyone had a ball! A novel idea, they had a photo booth there for the guests to put on funny hats etc, two copies of the photos were printed......one to get pasted into a memory book and one for the guest. It was such a fun and novel idea but a great way to have some wonderful memories kept.
This is the happy bride (my niece) being walked to her future husband by my brother and SIL.
and of course, the cake. This was made by her step mom.
Lisa I'm using Windows 8 and it took a while to work out how to find things but when you get used to it, it's not so bad. I will admit that it is entirely different to XP which is what my old computer used.......yes, I was a little behind the times but it still worked so I just kept using it.......lol.
Have a great weekend all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Chrissy, I'm still using XP. Can manage changes to BCO by using Google. Will stay with XP until I have to get a new computer. I am getting a tablet.0 -
Chabba that's exactly what I did.....lol.......but my old one just kept turning itself off and that got really annoying so when my mum dies last year she left a small legacy to each of my sibling and I and it was just enough to buy a new laptop which is exactly what I did. I will admit though, I did get twelve years out of the old one so not too bad I don't think.

Chrissy, I ADORED those pictures on FaceBook and thank you for posting them again!!! They were just breathtaking-ly gorgeous and everyone looked so happy! Was it a daytime wedding, so less booze, or is it just that your days are so long right now?

Barbe it was a late afternoon early evening wedding and the party went on until midnight. I posted the pics on FB because my other niece couldn't attend as she lives in Queensland with her hubby and three children and was really disappointed so when her mum told me I took the photos and posted as it was happening so she could share the day.
I'm glad everyone else got to enjoy them as well!

What a GREAT idea to post them as the event occurred!!!! I quickly picked up that they were posted in a "backwards" timeline so scrolled down until your first post and watched the event unfold. Isn't social media amazing!!!!! What a gift you gave your niece to be part of it all.

Barbe, when my DD first told me about FB I was very leary of it and still am to a degree so I'm always careful what I say and what I post but it is just the best thing for sharing great family events with those who cannot attend.

I love it for seeing my grands!! I don't normally post personal things on it like some people do.....
0 -
Lol.......I hear you on that score but I keep track of what my grands are doing as they are quite a bit older than yours. I find it interesting the sorts of things they are into.........oh, and a couple of years ago I used to monitor the eldest ones bedtime as he had a habit of staying up way after everyone else was in bed so every now and then he'd get a pm from his gran saying 'bedtime'! Funnily enough, he would turn off the computer and comply!

HAHAHAHAHAHA social media DOES transfer the "mommy voice"!!!!!!! (I know...grandma voice in your case, but he DID hear it!)
