Gorgeous hummer Lisa........I'm amazed that you can get so close!

On the subject of looking after grands I did have two of mine every school holidays  until they were of an age that they could look after themselves........eldest one 16 the younger 14.  I'm staring to feel like I could dismantle the room they used to sleep in and create a sewing room for me........not sure when I will do this, it's just a thought.  I didn't mind looking after them but as the years went on and dealing with BC and then stage IV really was a bit of a burden at times so even though I is them now I do enjoy my me time.

Carole, I'm fighting the flue at the moment so not feeling quite up to par but I have a doc appointment on Monday so I'm sure he will give me some anti B's and it will clear up quickly........got a bit of a fever today but I'm sure once I see the doc all will be well.

    Take car all!

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy

Chrissy, why did I think you already had a new sewing room set up? Who was it that did one a couple of years ago and posted pics? Hope you feel better soon. Lisa, LOVE the hummingbird!!!

Barbe that was me but that was a nook now I'm going to spread out and take the whole room........lol.  I have a huge cutting table down in the shed that I haven't had room for but if I take the twin bed and trundle out of that room I just might be able to put it in or get myself a collapsible one.........I really am over trying to cut on the dining table that is round for starters and quite often when the pegs get loose, a little wonky.  You could say I'm looking for a little stability.     Hahahahaha!

Well, I think taking over the whole room is a grand idea!! Alyson can attest to the fact that I have VERY much taken over an entire "guest room" in my home! I think she was a bit shocked at the mess, but I work best in a mess....that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Chrissy the sewing room sounds great. I use bins under my cutting board to store fabric.

I have two cupboards as well as stainless steel shelves which are loaded with craft goodies as well as fabric.  It's unfortunate that I can't actually leave it I mess because you have to Walt through that room to get to the other guest room.........Ally can tell you how tiny my rooms are.........lol........plenty big enough for two but when the kids all come together and stay there are bodies everywhere!......lol.

Barbe being in a mess sometimes seems to help with the creative juices.......lol.  I always tell DH that and so far I've managed to get away with it........lol.

Gingerbrew I like the idea of tubs under the table for fabric storage, I might just have to visit the fabric store and the storage a store one for some moe fabric and the other to put the fabric in so DH can't get his knickers  in a knot about me buying the fabric..........lol

I can't even get to my machine because I have 3 foster kittens in a corral taking up all the floor space in that room. They're getting bigger tho and will go to someone else soon.

Lisa, what a gorgeous little bird!  I love the colors in his/her (?) feathers.  I admire you for not giving up all  your free time to look after your grandkids when they're not in school.  Maybe that's why the other grandma moved?  LOL!

lisa, that is a beautiful shot of the little bird! So clear, you can see so much detail!

chrissy, I hope you are feeling better by now.

My DD just took the dog for a walk on the beach. First time since her surgery. She has graduated to just one crutch. She thinks tomorrow at PT she will be released to walk. Yahoo!!!!!!

My DS's bday was friday. So I have been helping him celebrate all weekend. He turned 29. He got to go out in his kayak and see lots of old friends. DD and I cooked up a storm and had lots of family over for dinner for a cook out. We made a yummy choc. cake from scratch with buttercream frosting. I felt like all I did was cook and eat all weekend. So needless to say I am not looking forward to my weigh in on Monday. But we had a good time.

I saw my MO on friday. She wants me to see my PCP (which I am doing tomorrow morning) to get my blood pressure meds adjusted. She thinks that the pains I am having  might be because I have lost weight and the nerves are readjusting. But the fatigue she thinks is from my other meds not the tamoxifen. I don't know what it's from, I just want to feel better. But I see her point that maybe my blood pressure has gotten better from the weight loss and I don't need the meds anymore. So I'll see what she says tomorrow. I still have throbbing in my hands and feet. And my trigger finger has come back. Oh well, It's just one day at a time. I'm not sweating the small stuff.

Chrissy,  I hope you're feeling better.  I turned our youngest daughter's room into my sewing room after she got married.  I also bought plastic bins for my fabric stash.  I could use dozens!  Lol

Wren,  You foster kittens?  How fun!  Wish my DH would allow me to have a cat or two.

    Lisa,  Gorgeous photos as always!

I'm finally forcing myself out of bed.  This weekend the SE's were worse than usual.  Can't wait for chemo to end!  Ugh.

Hi girls!  Well I'm sitting in my DD lounge just checking the boards before bed time.  DD has an early start tomorrow so has already gone to bed and believe me I am not far behind her.

Saw my GP this afternoon and he is feeling that I have myself a dose of whooping cough and has ordered what I thought was an X-ray which turns out to be a CT of my chest as he thinks he hears some aspiration in the upper right lung.  I cannot remember having a coughing fit that included contents from my stomach  or anything like that but her obviously hear something as I was instructed to have the 'X-ray' and get the report in time to take it to my specialist appointment tomorrow afternoon.  Not particularly liking the feeling I'm getting from all this..........we shall see tomorrow .......I think it's just a chest infection with a normal cold thrown in for good measure and if it's not well there's not much I can do about it.

Wow Nancy!  Sound like you have literally cooked up a storm! Getting your BP meds adjusted will make you feel a whole lot better...........it's amazing how off we can feel if the dosage isn't right.....good luck!

Wren I love looking after foster kittens.........actually they used to always find their forever home with me as I couldn't bare to give them up.......lol.

Lisa I love that little hummer!   You seem to have so many beautifully coloured ones around when you live!  It is unfortunate but we in Aus don't have hummers a all so I'm fascinated by their miniature beauty.

Awe Lillyrose, chemo does mKe you feel like crap but do take it easy and don't worry about too much other than the beast is being chased away buy the nasty medicine.Yes, we all seem to convert children's rooms into something else, (usually a sewing room......lol) when they leave home, it's just a bit of a pain when they decide they want to come home for awhile and the conversion has to be undone........yep I know all about that.......lol......all of mine weren't quite sure about being on their own to start with and came home to mum a couple f times before they got sorted.......hahahahaha!  Eventually the rooms got converted back to what I wanted but I did leave two that were always bed rooms.....just in case.  Oh, and that was the house we used to live in the one I have now fits into two of the rooms I had! It was huge!  I much prefer my little cottage now as it is easier to look after.

I got so tired las night when I started this post that I was falling asleep but now it's time to get myself organised for the day and get into the hospital where I will be having the CT.  I'll definitely let you know results but I'm not expecting anything really nasty, my GP has a tendency to panic a bit sometimes........lol.   I have been seeing him for over twenty five years so we know each other well.......lol.

    Love n hugs.     Chrissy

I saw these beauties on my way to rads every day. The last few treatments I noticed the babies. What a thrill. I finally got the chance to get back over their to take some pics. I haven't been out with my camera in a very long time. It was so fun....felt like I was actually getting some of my normal life back.

Well so much for the CT......they couldn't find a vein and the little one they did find, popped!   No contrast.....I'm so over not having any veins that I think a part of my conversation with my specialist this afternoon will be about some sort of solution...........GRRRRR!  Can you tell I'm a little peeved?  Oh well, I'm off to pick up eldest GS so we can go pick up a piece of his art work that was on show.

    BBL all!

So, Chrissy, they must have done SOME kind of scan/x-ray for you?!?!?!! Why couldn't they find a vein in your leg or something?

  • carolehalston
    carolehalston Member Posts: 8,214

Chrissy, sending very POSITIVE thoughts and hopes that you're soon on the mend.

Bandwoman, I love the photo of the swans on the water.

A thunderstorm passed through last night here in northern MN and took the humidity and mugginess with it.  This morning it's cool and comfortable again.  The last couple of days felt more like home (Louisiana) than MN.  But maybe that hot weather will bring the gardens along.  Still no veggies to speak of for sale in the farmers' mkts.

Hoping for a solution for your vein situation Chrissy.

Chrissy, I hear you about the veins. It's awful. I had bloodwork last week and it took 4 sticks before they had any luck at all. Hope they find a solution. I had a port, but that didn't help with scans. Good luck. Wilsie

Are they using butterfly needles? Those are pretty good at getting into small veins.

  • barbe1958
    barbe1958 Member Posts: 7,605

I always warn the tech about my vein so they are extra diligent. Some will warm the area with a warm towel, some use butterfly needles and some just go for it. I do find the techs in the CT and MRI area particularly good at what they do.

I always request a butterfly for a blood draw

I didn't know that they were also for infusions. I will keep that in my data bank.

I had an MRI tech stab me in the upper forearm and get the vein on the first try. I didn't even know I had a vein there. It hurt, but much can be forgiven if they get it on the first try. I always lie and say they're easy to hit because the real story would just make them nervous.

Very crafty, Wren!  Probably gives them some confidence too.

Chrissy, I hope your visit with your specialist went well and you'll soon find a solution.   Thinking of you.

Leah, I'm concerned about happenings where you are and pray that you and your family are safe.

Hi girls, I'm home and had a good sleep.  My visit with the specialist went well and after I let off about the CT story we got to look at the CT films and report.  The upshot is there is no cancer spread ( that's good) but my whole right lung is affected by an infection so that explains my shortness of breath and the sweats, fevers and crapiness.  So with a prescription for anti B's with repeat in my hand and words that he doesn't want to see me for another six months, I headed for the door, the car and headed home.

I felt okay when I got home, a little fragile but okay until I got on the boards and found that my friend Karen (Kazzie61)  died yesterday lunch time........I think I was just about ready to deck someone, the only thing that stopped me was firstly I have no strength so my decking would be like swatting a mosquito and secondly there was no one around that annoyed me enough to want to deck........problem solved so I went to bed.

I am a little more myself this morning after a good night sleep and a couple of doses of the anti Bs.  Can't say I'm ready to run a marathon or anything but the first wobbly steps have been made.  I'm calmer over Karens passing although I know I will grieve her loss for a while yet I am accepting it as we knew it has been coming for the last six months and each day for her since then has been a gift.

I will stay in touch with my GP over the infection and I need to get the results of some bloods so I will call him Monday, get those and give him a report on how I'm feeling.  It's just time so I'll be sort of good as being perfectly good is just not me......lol......but I will try my best and hope my energy begins to return soon and with the energy perhaps the knee will be a little less sore so I can begin to get back to my living!

Love n hugs girls, you do my heart good to see you here.    Chrissy

Chrissy, thank God you had a scan to show the infection or it might have been ignored! Being less mobile with  your knee surgery may have either started it or exacerbated it and the result could have been so much worse!! I'm sure you will feel much better in a couple of days - hugs to you!

Chrissy, the bigger news is wonderful!  No spread of cancer.  You'll beat the lung infection.  So sorry about your friend.

Lisa, where were you and your camera when I really needed you?  DH and I were sitting at anchor out on the lake today, when a gorgeous loon floated up REALLY close.  I could see the red eye on the side facing me.  When the loon dived down and surfaced moments later, I saw a tiny fish in the beak.

Later at a 2nd anchorage, a large eagle flew overhead quite low.  We could see his white head and white tail feathers.

When we returned to the campground, I went for an exercise walk and saw a pretty deer cross the road, stop and look at me before bounding into the woods.

It has been a great day for enjoying nature.  And I don't have any pictures!!
