I am always amazed at how much difference the humidity makes in how the temperature affects us. 80 F can be pleasant with little humidity and horrible with a lot. In San Diego it was  rare to have high humidity but now the warm humid air is arriving more and more often from Mexico. It prompted us about 10 years ago to put in central air conditioning. We really don't use it very much,  but it really makes a difference with the monsoonal.air. We are lucky in that our temperatures always cool off at night. ⛵

I HATE humidity!!! I know people who LOVE the sweat running down the back of their neck.... HATE it. Did I mention I HATE humidity??? We run our AC only when it get`s too humid as dry heat is easier to handle and breathe in, but humid air chokes me up.

We golfed in Las Vegas once and I got my DH a tee shirt that has a skeleton on it holding a golf club mid-swing and it says `But it`s a DRY heat`......

Love, love, love cooler evenings....!!! Great sleeping weather!

Lisa, San Diego is reputed to have the most ideal weather in the US.  And you're right about the humidity factor.  Humid is not comfortable.

Today it's cooler.  Our thermometer indicates it's 64 degrees outside.  The sky is overcast and it's gloomy, with chance of rain throughout the day.  But tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and mild, more perfect weather.

Today I'm off to the Laundromat with a BIG bag of quarters.  I gather up laundry every two weeks and go to a nice Laundromat in town.  I'm hoping that everyone else with laundry to do doesn't have the same idea today!

    Barbe, the house looks gorgeous!

Chrissy, feel better. That sort of stuff can throw you for a loop - even someone as resilient as you!

I want to thank everyone for your good wishes. Things are tense now and will probably continue to be, but we're managing.

Leah, hope you stay safe and that this conflict can end.

We need women running the world.  Men make such a mess of things.

Leah, I pray that you and your family continue to stay safe.  The conflict seems to have gone on forever and shows no sign of a solution, and I know we're all so concerned about  you and your family.

We kept our oldest grandchild, Logan, today for the last time since he starts kindergarten tomorrow.  I know we can keep him for teacher workdays and during vacations, etc, but this is sort of an end to the way things have been.  She who complained so much about keeping him all the time when we kept him 5 days/ week found herself getting a bit teary this afternoon.  At least I'm in better shape than DIL!  It's always hard when they first go to school.

My 65th birthday's coming up in January and I've been inundated with mail regarding medicare supplemental insurance.  It's a bit frightening to learn just how many companies have access to our personal data.

Hope all are well and had a good weekend.

I had a fun afternoon with friends Sunday. We went to The Sound of Music, being shown at a beautifully restored movie theater, the Alabama. They even had the old Wurlitzer organ come out of the floor and play before and during intermission. Of course, we have all seen this movie many times, but seeing it on the big screen with all the familiar songs, was awesome.  Such a nice afternoon!  Wilsie

Oh Leah I do hope that things can settle down and return to peaceful times.......you and your are in my thoughts and prayers.  Stay safe.

Kathy it's hard when your own children start school but when your grands do?!!!  Oh boy!!!!  I hear you shedding a tear or two, I did that when my grands, who lived with me, went to school and again when they graduated to high school.  I struggled at the beginning of this year as my eldest grandson started University.  All these occasions just reinforce that we are indeed becoming the older generation.

Barbe how is the how selling going!  I'm keeping everything crossed that it all goes to plan for you.

Wilsie I love 'The Sound Of Music'!!!!  It is such a classic movie and watchable over and over again.  That old restored theater with the Wurlitzer sounds magical and would indeed make for a wonderful outing......glad you enjoyed yourself.

I've started on the second lot of anti B's as the first was not enough.....grrrr!  I do hope that this lot does the trick and sends the infection on its way very quickly. It's still cold with the nights down to freezing but the little fire in the dinning room is doing its job masterfully and keeping the house warm enough that I can just have a long sleeve T on.  Spring is not far away as the Almond trees are beginning to blossom......lol.....it always fascinates me that they are the first trees to blossom and always in the coldest part of the year!  Hoping you are still enjoying summer.

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy

AND finish laying a tile floor in the basement bathroom. We put in a new low-flow toilet and decided to lay new peel and stick tiles and my DH started and now I have to finish.....feeling a bit overwhelmed here....Snooze

    chrissyb Member Posts: 11,438

Oh Barbe that is such a lot still to do and I can understand why you are feeling overwhelmed.........wish I were closer to give you a bit of a hand.......can't lay tiles anymore but I can clean and sort a sewing room......lol.  Can't wait to see the pics for the listing.  Hang in there, you will be done soon.

When the Sound of Music premiered in San Diego, I escorted around the actress that played the oldest girl. Lots of excitement. that was in 1965 I think, then a couple of years ago I sat next to one of the later Von Trapp children at my husband's college reunion at Dartmouth. I think he was class of 1963. At any rate it was fun talking with him..

    barbe1958 Member Posts: 7,605

Lisa, that would have been VERY cool! Sound of Music and Lady and the Tramp were the only two movies I saw growing up until I was old enough to go on my own!

Chrissy, I AM done. My back is done, not the rooms! Took the strongest narcotic I have and still drive to the mortgage broker. My husband is off golfing and will meet me there. Can I say I am bitter? He had an opportunity to golf $$ and no, I didn`t stop him....so I am bitter at myself!!!!

  • chrissyb
    chrissyb Member Posts: 11,438

How cool was that Lisa!  I remember watching a special that was televised some years ago on the Von Trapp children and where they were at that time.  Like all of us they have aged and a lot of them gone by now but I guess they will always be remembered by history if not the people.

Oh Barbe I do hope you can get a change to have a nice long epsom salt bath to ease your back muscles and perhaps ease your pain a little.....there is nothing worst than back pain, it can be really debilitating and if you are a bit stressed about anything it makes it feel ten times worse.  Hope all went well with the broker.

Almost ready for bed.....it is after all 2.21am so I should be ready for bed.......lol.  The problem is I slept late yesterday now and I have been on the computer almost since I got up researching cameras.  I am biting the bullet and have finally chosen the one I want.  It's the new Fuji X-E2 mirrorless DSLR.  I can't wait to get it and I think I have enough saved to get two lenses as well......I am excited!!  It will probably take a couple of weeks to get here as it is from Hong Kong and has to go through customs etc so maybe even three weeks.........customs have been known to be a bit slow sometimes but I will be patient......I think.....lol.

Hope you are all doing okay!

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy

I am retiring from real estate October 1st, one of the most stressful jobs you can imagine. So hard to keep everyone happy. I will miss it, but plan to fill my days with fun things I haven't been able to do for the past 15 years. When you are a Realtor, people think you are on duty 24/7!  Wilsie

I am so looking forward to doing things I have wanted to do for a long time, while I am still feeling good. Who knows what's ahead, but I sure don't want to spend the last days of my life working!

Wilsie you will certainly enjoy retirement!  I have never been busier......lol........and I think most retired people are the same.  I'll bet that October can't come fast enough and you are soooo right about doing things while you feel good as there is no telling when that will change.

I have SO much respect for realtors!!! Well, didn`t my DH come home from golf with a sore back. Seriously????? I still made him do some things with me to finish up the best we could before the photographer arrived. Of course the photographer was an hour late and I just wanted to lie down, but I followed him around and checked each picture he took to make sure I liked it. He humoured me and showed me all, but did mention that I was the only one that had ever done that. I told him it wasn`t HIS skill I was concerned about, but whether my house was showing well. They should be live in a couple of days and I`ll link it here. We signed the listing today as we both think the realtor already has someone in mind - she did admit that there are two people who have been asking her about new listings in our development, and a neighbour who`s sister-in-law is in real estate said she had a list of 14 people waiting for new listings. Our realtor said she wasn`t going to do an open house unless we wanted, so that`s another reason we think it will sell fast. We don`t really want our neighbours nosing around our house and the realtor said we had a lot of pretty, small items that could easily disappear....yikes!! I told her about where my narcotics are so she would know but told her I had no intention of locking them up as I need easy access at least 3 times a day. I`ll keep y àll posted....

The empty nest syndrome feeling was short lived even if it was acutely felt!  Yesterday we wound up keeping DGD and his 19 month old brother while DIL went to parent orientation (DS had to work) and also kept them both for a while tonight while DIL had a photo session.  (She has a small photography business.)  Also kept DGD Anna for a few hours yesterday too.  The boys' other grandmother lives about 4 hrs from here and Anna's other grandparents live about 45 minutes from them.  That's why we're asked to babysit so often.

Wilsie, it's good to have such fun times with friends, isn't it?  And congratulations on your coming retirement!  Everyone I know who's retired loves it and eventually wonders how they found time to work, and I imagine being a realtor has been a rather stressful occupation.  Here's to no more work stress!

Chrissy, sure hope the new antiB's do the trick!  This infection has dragged on way too long and I'm sure you're getting very weary of it.  That's exciting news about your new camera.

Oh Barbe, I'm so sorry about your back and also sorry your DH managed to play golf!  I so hope the drugs are helping.  Back pain is horrible, and I've been fortunate to experience only 1 or 2 bad episodes with it.  Hope you improve quickly.  And do post the pictures of both the old and new houses!

hey glas, as always, glad you're all here when my life is full of crappiness.

I had a bacterial infection that took over 2 mos to go; it's now in my bladder, and isn't fun!

last thurseday, we had a big bit of crappiness with the con do here, again.. the upshot is :I  got upset, and by nightime, I was having a medium size stroke. More crappiness!

the neuro said the Ms is so far in the brin stem, it will be a slide from ere, but if my "luck holds' it will be a slow one.

Tommorrow is the dreaded MRI> They are now adding oxygen to the tube, and it helps, but I'm so claustrophobic, it's still hard!

I'm counting on all of you for a "pocket party" haha

anyway, I'm just p;anning on going on with my life as usual, with little roadblocks in my way right now.

Not planning on reg PT;as I know what to do already, after so the right words don't always many,

This was a signifigant one, but , if  i'm careful, I can still type, and reach out to people! I type, therefore I  am!l I

Lily Rose, get thru chemo, and it's al; downhill.  from here. If/when you feel the need, cry. I didn't in the beginning, and paid for it later. It's the wthanks for being there It's Gods way of letting us (literally) cry out to Him without words!..

Chrissy, I hope the anti bs chase that infection outt a you!

      Hugz, 3jays

Barbe, so sorry about your back but your DH back is what I call self inflicted and requires no sympathy at all......lol.  I can relate to wanting everything to be perfect with the photography but usually the people who do it are pretty good at their job.  Checking is still a good idea as others don't always see what you do.  I am so hoping you get a quick sale for as close as possible to your asking price.  Selling houses is so nerve wracking, I guess that is why I stay so long in the same place.........I also hate the packing bit but the unpacking and setting up the new house is so fun!

Wow Kathy!!  Busy girl!!  Having little ones around is lovely but when it's a constant it's very tiring. I guess like everything in life you do get used to it and cope very well.

Lillyrose, haven't heard from you for a while, are you doing okay?  I know that later chemos are hard as it is cumulative in your system.  Sending gentle ((((hugs))))) and hoping you feel better soon.

Yay 3jays!!!!!   I just love it when you pop in!  Not so happy to hear that your MS is in the brain stem and you are having mini strokes and are still battling that infection!  Oh my! I am in awe of your tenacity!!  Glad you are still able to type so you can reach out.  Do take care and say hi to Mur for me........I still go over in my mind my time with you both.....I had such a good time.

Feeling a bit better today although not terribly active but that's okay as eventually I will get back to normal.

Hoping you are all doing well.

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy

3jays, what hell are they causing you now in the condo?? I thought it was all good once you moved to your own unit. You should tell them they caused you a stroke and maybe they will back off? Sometimes we have to use what we can to get results. We will be in your pocket tomorrow making such a racket with the MRI that you won`t even realize you are in the machine! Our machines up here always blow air on our faces in case of tickles and stuff.

Oh 3jays!  I forgot about the pocket party!   I will be there with bells on and if you here them bells ringing you know I'm dancing like crazy so I can distract you.
